Marsh is playing for Widnes today, Charnley played for Hull KR yesterday, both are elsewhere gaining better experience than they would in the under 20s and they would be the likely options other than Thornley. Despite the fact that Thornley is going to RU playing him in the under 20s means that we don't have to recall someone that will be here next year and prevent them getting first team action at another club. Playing Thornley in the under 20s will benefit Marsh and Charnley and so is useful to the club.
