He has major weaknesses in defence, I think taking him out of the firing line for a while and getting him decent coaching is the best thing for him.

Whether or not he's getting that coaching is another matter...

Its those darting runs that I want to see Ainscough given a chance for. When he takes the ball in with some venom, hes always ready to step and keeps his legs driving, thats why he made so many breaks, rather than giving up as the man gets to him. aswell he has that bravery to go down the line and try to hold players off with a fend.

For me I didn't think Ainscough's defence was a major problem until Mick Potter said they would pepper him in Edinburgh and Noble refused to back him despite him scoring 4 the previous week at Wakefield. That just shattered his confidence and he hasn't been the same player since in either Reserve or First team. It told him and everyone else that he has a problem that I didn't at the time think was a major issue. Bad coaching for me.

If your going to drop players for poor defence why is Tim Smith still playing? His defence has been ten times worse than Ainscough's with 17 times worse return in attack!

Before Murrayfield very little was made about Ainscough's defence but when Potter pointed it out it was blown way out of proportion IMO

Saying that I still don't think he's ready to play full time in the first team just yet.
