According to today's WEP, the bulldozers moved in immediately after last night's match to relay 3000 square metres of turf - the job should be completed by this Saturday evening.
After seeing recent pictures of the pitch, this can only be good for us....................plus it'll stop Latics from getting a bolloxing from Fergie next weekend!

Good news. Was at last nights match and it was poor. Didn't really hamper the players though IMO.
Good news though. It would only get worse with time!
If only Whelan hasn't of been a tight so and so when he built it he may have actually saved some money in the long run!

Is there no way they could install underfloor heating to stop it getting in that state before they put the new pitch down? I don't know how long that stuff takes but it needs doing because the pitch is being relayed every year it seems.

Apparently, the problem is down to the metal sewerage tanks under the pitch that were not removed during the building of the stadium, plus the alleged last-minute scrapping of an underpitch filtration system, similar to the one at Arsenal.
We are, therefore, stuck with these annual pitch problems - a great, balanced, article (previously linked-to from this forum) is on the Cockney Latic website:

Martinez blamed it for Latics going out of the FA Cup last night, claiming they werent able to play "their football". Having seen plenty of Wigan & Bolton this season, Id suggest the pitch would have helped Latics last night against a better footballing side in Bolton.
By relaying the pitch for Utd, they are setting themselves up for another 5 goal pasting.
