Having now played them 3 times in Semis and won the lot, I wondered if fans had a particular favourite semi-final against them?

My favourite was the 1989 semi at Maine Road when Joe Lydon broke their expectant hearts with his 60 odd yard drop goal.

On the basis that every cloud has a silver lining, I suppose Wire fans can probably console themselves that this was better than their inept performance at Wembley the following year when they were embarrassed in front of an audience of millions.

That seems a long time ago now, though. I feel Wire have had the Indian sign on us in recent years. This weekend's game really could go EITHER way.

You know, I fear Warrington games more than St Helens games. When I first started watching Wigan in the mid-80s, Warrington were our bogey side. We could beat literally everyone except this lot and even as a 10 year old I developed a particular hatred for players like Bishop, Boyd and even Cullen, who was a cocky sod.

Once again, nearly 25 years later, Warrington seem to be our bogey side again, and whilst I'd like to feel confident about the semi, I just don't.
