Thoughts on the game Sat??

I suspect our pack will need to step up to handle Hill, Sims etc

Some of our defence at KR and at Catalans was pretty good. With the right mindset they can match the biggest fellas.
I think the important thing is that we play our own game, we got sucked in up at hull, then showed when we threw the ball about that we could open up the defence and post points.

Inside game we lose...outside we stand our ground. Don't get dictated to by Wire and play our own expansive game......I can see an upset here.

Hoping wire come down thinking they are going to stroll it.
Remember that game where the bloke from Warrington took his shirt off in disgust and tried to burn it while shouting abuse at his team

Subs: Daniel HECKENBERG, Jason GOLDEN, Luke GALE, Louie McCARTHY-SCARSBROOK. Tries from Gale (2), Dorn, Gafa, Howell, Melling, Orr, Randall, Temata and Ward. Danny Orr kicked 10 goals and there were 3,206 witnessing it!

Didn't they have Lowes in charge at the time? I think we nearly ended up with him as our coach.

Yes Lowes was head coach then - but not for long! He was shall we say volatile at that time; I had a run in with him on the touchline that resulted in disciplinary action! Have to say though when he was coach at Bradford I remember a really amusing episode at the Hive when he was slowly inching down through the Stand to get to speak to players in a position he shouldn't have been, chased by Connolly the Match Commissioner in a Benny Hill stylie. All with a smile on his face - great rapport with us in the crowd that day.

They went on to win 3 challenge cups out 4 whilst we went on to employ a dodgy fielding specialist.....

That was the one, give him his due Matt king was pretty poor the whole season but yep on that day he was the target of some less than complimentary comments.
Wonder how many wire will bring down, fact it's on telly gonna affect the the numbers that travel but sat night will help.

So dog genuine question, if you were a wire fan would the fact this weekends game is available to watch on sky effect your decision on travelling to see them play? 350 miles round trip plus or watch it on tv? Simple fact if it was not on sky more would travel. Why is that such a subject of delight?

3 of us heading down and staying over. Any decent pubs nearby? Thanks in advance

Not that many pubs close by mate, Ealing itself has a few and town is pretty decent but it's then a bus rude or 20 min walk to the ground

In fact Lowes had been sacked and Tony Smith was in charge, but it was only his second or third game. He was quoted afterwards as saying something like ' Sometimes you have to reach rock bottom before you can improve'. I was at the match and Wire were poor that day but it was also one of those rare games where simply everything worked for London, the bounce of some of the kicks, some eight or nine man passing movements, in most games half don't come off, but on the day they all did. That season we finished 10th but no complaints from Wire fans as we won the Challenge Cup for first time in 35 years.

20 minutes? Bloody hell you're fitter than me! I'd probably take 20 mins after the game DOWNHILL to Ealing!

It would still be a problem even if it was not on Sky. Only 3 options for attending are go on club coach,drive down if you have that option or stay over, a fair few would of used the train, get there and back quicker but that is not an option as last train back is 20.31.

3,205.....that's how many saw that fat bloke try to set fire to his shirt...attendance was 3,206 but he wasn't watching himself. Clubb absolutely hammered King in a one on one tackle and Curtis scored under the stiks from the loose ball.......Melling ran the length of the park to celebrate his try with Clubb....so, no, I take no delight in the clubs demise but I doubt that it being a TV game will bother those fans who would have traveled......we're a pub side now and we'll attract pub sized gates regardless of who we play....

I think in real terms we were a pub side then with a few decent players and nice ground to play on. Coaching structure was poor, training facilities; a field just off the A3, back room staffing, well ........

Welcome to our world. As London away supporters we have these travel issues every other week throughout the season.
There have been too many occasions when playing times, venues or even the day of the game have been changed for us, at very short notice.
The thought of the powers that be is that our numbers are few, so we do not matter.
For me. If I want to attend I will find a way.

The club have an opportunity for a very special night. Wire have little to play for (they will surely be safe). We have nothing to lose, if we get beat let's go down all guns blazing. You never know, they have had a fortnight off and maybe, just maybe, we can catch them cold in what for them is a strange environment.

Can I have a case of what you're on.....lol!!

Close to the ground there is one pub - Duke of Kent, Scotch Common, Fullers pub with a large beer garden. If you are really lucky the Pimms Bar will be open. A little further away on Pitshanger Lane is the Village Inn. Both are good pubs. And as said there are a lot of establishments at Ealing Broadway.
