| As I said on VT, it's an idea to generate extra support because a game against Harelquins is unappealing, unexciting and boring. Plus, you bring no away support.

Proper supporters will go mainly to watch their own team. Perhaps it's your own team that's unappealing?

No, it's Harelquins. Hence why the event has been organized way over a month in advance.
We had to do something similar when we played you last year too.
The 10,000 ''proper supporter'' season ticket holders will be there, it's aimed at non-season ticket holders and those who select certain games through out the year who don't find fixtures v Harlequins appealing or exciting enough to depart money for, plus an opportunity to give free tickets to people and businesses who may have not sampled Rugby League to maybe start watching and maybe purchase tickets/corporate boxes/sponsorship in the future.
Pretty smart really.

You can't honestly be surprised that no Quins fans turn up. It's on a bloody Friday!

And how many would turn up on a Saturday or Sunday?
50 maximum, even that's being generous. It doesn't make a difference.

Absolutely genius idea, invite those who haven't sampled Rugby League to a game that you say is "unappealing, unexciting and boring".

Yeah, with a free ticket.
Like last year against you, they'd understand Wigan are playing a small, low-key club with little support and poor form in the League but would see potential in bigger games and through out the season in general. You might even play well or have better form than us at that point in the season which would be a bonus.
Quite funny how the idea is being ridiculed considering the great success of our marketing team and abysmal efforts of yours. Take note.

I see you are still struggling to grasp that the idea of inviting people to a game which a hardened Wigan regular such as yourself believes is "unappealing, unexciting and boring" is a bad one. Although I suppose the majority of Wigan bandwagoners are fairly ignorant so won't even notice as long as the mighty Wigan RL win.
Have a word with yourself and return to your own backslapping forum. Were you at Bradford last week? I was in hysterics

| Once at the game the groups will enjoy a St George’s Day themed build up to the kick off at 8.00pm. (Warriors Website)
At kick off with the emphasis on non-english players for the pieaters all the : hard work destroys the credibility of St Georges Day

The games v Harlequins are generally how I described it but people will turn up regardless if a ticket is for free just to watch the ''mighty Wigan RL''. Hopefully they'd appreciate be encouraged to pay should a bigger & more appealing fixture crop up.

| If the wigan lad would stop having a pop he might get more apreciation. Yet again a club, when faced with the prospect of few visiting fans, decided to do something about it. Last year was Heinz (IIRC) and this year they are again trying to ensure that they use the space in the stands to showcase their matchday experience......
Good idea and good luck to them......IIRC last years game v Quins was their second biggest gte of the season. Shows what can be done when you PLAN AHEAD

It depends who they offer tickets to and how many.
If they go all out and offer a big amount to a number of largish companies in the North West then why not? It is achievable, but unlikely.

split hairs all you like......my point was valid! Clubs that see the fixture list and act to do something to get more fans in v Quins/Cats/Welsh??? are the ones who gain in the end. Those that don't, simply point the finger come licence time and moan about London....
Wigan are to be applauded for their foresight....ie...Looking at the problem EARLY and finding a solution.....hardly rocket surgery is it

| Having a pop at the Pies is always popular on here for historic reasons but I agree with Gutters, it sounds like good marketing and if it works it is to be applauded. However, I think I could get people to watch a winning Wigan team that are top of the table, in London it is a completely different matter. We could win SL and WCC and the Standard would still ignore us.

| Of course Wigan are going to promote the hell out of a Quins visit. IL knows us better than any other owner and even though it is away, a big crowd (as written earlier the third biggest of the season) makes us look more appealing to anyone looking to by cheaply into a sports team and gets IL a better chance of getting rid of us.
I do wonder why other teams don't do what Wigan are doing when we roll into town.
