| I have just looked back at the results and I make it:
Last 27 SL games; won 2, drawn 1, lost 24 Didn't realise it was that bad!

| Seem to remember reading that Powell was appointed against the advice of the RFL. As far as a replacement's concerned, the rumour is that Brian Noble's not interested in a job involving a house move and I can't see John Kear swapping a nice, relatively low profile job at Batley with trying to sort out the mess that's us at the moment.

| Just a thought but anyone thought that maybe the big senior players and the respective personalities are now a big part of the problem.
They wouldn't be the first players at the end of there career to get the coach the sack, and one step into the breach, How many times in sport have coaches/managers bought players to a club and ended up in affect adding to the problems and appointing there own successor.
RP was in a very awkward situation in this close season, in having to bring in players with a lot of experience and mould a new team. In effect he was also bringing people he really knew nothing about, and most importantly he was just hoping these players would get on, gel and really work along his ideas and game plan.
The new players have clearly not progressed the coach or clubs position, merely exposed him for what he was a rookie coach trying to make his way in the game in arguably the worst position in superleague.
I do feel sad for the bloke, ive said it before appears to be a decent bloke who got the job too early, at a really difficult time in the clubs history, a good coach on paper, but as shown, lacks Superleague experience and his own experienced coaching team. My guess the new players have now sussed this, the respect for the coach is not there.
Time to move on and a lot to learn for the club both on and off the field, A great deal of thought is needed, its massive appointment, it needs to be credible and workable this time.
John Kear seemed very happy two weeks ago at Batley, welcomed every Skolars player into the clubhouse before the game, after the game drove down to Sky Super league review on Sunday night at Isleworth, maybe thats the link.

| Agree with DL about Gower, so many doubted he would be able to rise to the challenge but I feel he has and is leading by example but he can't do it all on his own!
Over bringing in a new coach or Director of Rugby to work with Rob, Doubt Noble would relocate to London, not sure if three days a week would work? Kear has got it easy but he may go for the challenge! he is never one to hide away for too long & have an easy life. Whatever option it needs to be done sooner than later!!!

Very nearly spot on. One big senior player is part of the problem not players. Rob has been handed a poisoned chalice.
We can't have two people running the team so either Rob or the player needs to go. (Frankly if Rob goes and the player doesn't step up to coach then he still needs to go to avoid a repeat of the problem with a new coach.)

| There was no point investing in some of the talent that arrived at the stoop this year while leaving RP in charge, the guy is in way over his head. Watching some of the basic tactics and game plans he has installed over the past 14 months have left the guys I go to games with bewildered (between us there is many years of playing knowledge, most of them played at far higher level then I ever did).
As for RP and senior players having no respect for him, maybe this is deserved? This is where placing a very inexperienced coach with no real apprenticeship or decent mentor in his career to try and coach a squad that contains players who have been lead by some of the games finest minds comes undone.
I'm sorry RP should have only been a temporary solution while the club tread water last season and fallen back into an assistant role this year.

| In the real world of business how many people can work week on week for a manager who knows far less than his/her staff? I would think it would be very little and it can be very difficult and detrimental to the work force knowing what he/she is trying to put in place will not work. This could set back a team by months. It's probably easier to ignore the problem and blame other issues when your staff are on contract and cannot walk away than it is in a business world where staff can walk away to another position in another company. It is not only no good for the fans when they are utterly dejected by what is happening but a number of players could be having their career ruined when zest and talent are coached out of them. People say RP is a nice bloke, no-one is disputing he very well could be but he is not a coach and should not be in the position he is in.

If it's only one player and he's not supported by any of the others, drop him. Problem solved and we'd all know who it was, we can all guess but may be getting it wrong.
BTW is "big senior player" a clue or do you not necessarily mean physically big?

| These players are not going to play for the coach and whilst i think this shows a lack of professionalism I think DH has to act and bring a new coach in asap. With so many high profile aussies in the team who seem to have issues we have to bring someone in from Oz hopefully they respect and WILL play for.
How you can identify a good assistant from there who can do this not having coached before i do not know. Would Justin Morgan be a good option. Where is he now? Knows the game here well and was a good player in his day wasnt he?

| London coach Rob Powell, whose side have not won a match since last August, admits his side need a big improvement on their first-half showings in games.
He said:"We need to dig a bit deeper.
"That's three away games this year we have been poor in the first half and need to do much better.
"I'm not just blaming the players, I need to do better too.
"We can't continue to bash our heads against the wall. We are training hard but need to have a look at why the boys are not getting energy in the first half.
"When it was 20-0 at half-time the match was pretty much gone. Our start has to be better.
"Our dressing room after the match was the quietest I have ever seen."

| John Stankevitch. Want someone young and hungry who won't take any **it, that has also played top level RL. Morgan would be ok.
Wouldn't mind Darryl Powell but he seems to have bought into the whole Fev for SL thing.

| We seem to be very close to the position that Wire were in with Jimmy Lowes coaching when we thrashed them at The Stoop a few years ago (Oh happy day ).
So its time for DH to "Think on lad, think on", to quote Mr Shadrach in Billy Liar, and act accordingly.

John S has never coached at SL level so i think would have the same problems as the current coach. DP has been out of SL for far too long to take a gamble with and may have issues of credibility as well.
Morgan is OK with me as would Matterson.

Played yes - coached no!
Get him in as an assistant to the new guy from Oz and build up his knowledge more and get him ready to take over next time round. I think he has it in him but the players we have have to believe that not me or you.

Exactly, RP seems weak. I didn't like the reference at the fans forum to the players not liking presentations being made in the bar after they has lost. He should have just told them to suck it up and win a few games.

I don't know maybe they have grown to like losing recently, they are very good at it. I hear the club have booked the sixties group The Easybeats for the bar after the game. They could play "He's got to go" !

Nit picking but Smith was in charge then. I think it was about his 2nd or3rd game.
Last night was pitiful. I very nearly walked out after 10 minutes of the second half. Probably only stopped by some stupid sense of loyalty and the fact that the new stadium (very nice it is) is in the ar5e end of nowhere.

I was appalled by that too.
Firstly it is mentally weak and perhaps proves why they are losers. It's fine to hang around with family, friends and sycophants, but not fine to face up to the fans who travel for hours each week to watch them.
Secondly I did not notice a large number of players actually still around when the screen was drawn back between the two bars. After the Saints game I only saw Chris Bailey and it was a handful after the Giants game, few of whom seemed to wish to come out from behind the roped off area to socialise with any fans left.
It all seems completely against the spirit of rugby league to me and I doubt it would be acceptable at a northern club (or according to a friend of mine who is a dual season ticket holder at Quins RU). It doesn't show much of a feeling for the club from the players either imo.
