I would think the club would have some contacts that could get them a bus there for £20 each?

There are some games that don't bear too much analysis. Playing in a monsoon on the side of a hill which resembles Paschendale, against a team who see the game as their cup final worthy of a once-in-a-season effort, in front of 1,000 shivering speccies who are all wishing they'd stayed at home, is probably one of those games. I understand hypothermia was a significant risk for the players !
A win's a win, and after the Featherstone win over Castleford, it could have been a real banana skin.
Much more important game next week. Bradford at home (sort of) should be a winnable game. Bradford aren't as bad as they were last year, but they're still not great. A win against them could be a turning point for the season.

| Roy,
Fully agree with you, to Batley this was there cup final, as was cas and wigan for fev
They were playing on a pitch that they knew and were used too, why do you think fev were able to run Wigan so close!!
A win is a win, lets just see if we get a decent draw in the next round
More importantly, lets win our next away game against Bradfurt, yep in my eyes its an away game

You must be a happy man Quinny (still think you should now be calling yourself Broncy) if you can get a laugh by coming onto page 9 of a thread without reading anything that went before.
My journey home was fast and effortless, all thanks to modern technology. Great isn't it? I did my fair whack of standing on open terraces in wind, rain and snow half a century ago. Hope you enjoyed the game.

| As I said on Facebook and Twitter - if you give Batley a 10 point start for home and the slope (I couldn't believe how much of a slope it is), 10 points for the absolutely horrendous conditions and 10 points for Kears coaching ability over RP then it was a good win!
March to the Arch part 3 to come!

| That's encouraging PP (sounded like we did dig in).
Any punch-ups of note? Sounded like CG was targetted (had a couple of massive hits and just got up and on with it). The Wittgod was very harshly dealt with by the oppo...not so much because of his attacking threat, but more likely they are insanely jealous of his handsome good looks.

Roy, I remember watching quite a few Challenge Cup games played at Knowsley Road were Pilkington Recs used
to give teams a tough game, what have teams to lose in this type of situation, I respect Batley for the determination and tough aggression unlike Dewsbury in the last round.
Read some comments on facebook knocking us, I wonder if they even went, most likely Armchair Radio Critics?? nice and warm and Dry!

| went to this match yesterday as a neutral.
Ref battered Poor Batley. London bust have knocked on 5 times early in the second half and every time the ref said it went back, Then every time Batley had them under pressure in their own half, ref game a penalty.
London were forever offside and actually stood in front of the ref. I really felt for them because their efforts deserved much more. I know the conditions were bad but London were terrible and lucky they got some points early on.
Good thinking from London for the drop out though if not a bit risky when under a bit of pressure, It came off.
Wish we had drawn you in the cup instead of Wigan.
Anyway good luck in the next round

Batley battered us at times and got rightly penalised, some put it about! as I said yesterday at least John Kear in his after match Press Conference was truthful, praised both sides, but admitted graciously that Broncos were much more organised in defence and in the kicking game!
If I could have 1 pence for every "Get Em on side" at northern grounds I would be a millionaire, Batley did their fair share as well! LOL
Thanks for the good luck!

In my former life I was in the Army-I had a Sgt who worked for me who was married to a junior rank. His arguments always had a junior ranks perspective on them (Rather than a middle managers) very similar to your championship perspectives on the match summary yesterday.
5 knock ons not given, forever off side, every time Batley applied pressure Ref penalised them- are you getting a feel for how your post may be perceived? Just a thought.

I went to the game as a neutral because we played on the Friday night and thought it would be a good game. I couldn't have cared less who won and I told it how I saw it. Obviously the conditions helped Batley and made for a much closer game, bet that doesn't deflect from the fact that the ref was all London
Fact is I am not even a Batley fan but i was at the game, were You??? I saw it first hand without listening to the radio. Its a joke the way you talk derogatory about championship teams, (not just in this thread).
Rugby league didn't start with the Superleague mate and Featherstone have been in the top flight of rugby for many many more years than your made up team, and will be around for much longer too.
Without RL handouts you wouldn't even be around.
Tell me what will you be called next week and where will you be playing

| I’m not sure if you have managed to watch the Sky recording of the Fev v Wigan game yet. You will note that the commentary, that included ex Wigan players, were bigging Fev up throughout the game
It’s a British instinct to back the underdog!
Your neutrality doesn’t seem to come through as maybe you would like us to believe particularly in your last 3 paragraphs.

| its also the job as sky presenters. To be a fair to them on sky (not eddie and stevo) they have been bigging us for 2 years with the championship coverage
True its British instinct to back the underdog, and maybe I would have been happy to see Batley win, but I have no reason to a come away from the game moaning about the Ref, I certainly last no sleep over the result. But honestly the Ref was terrible
Your initial reply prompted those last 3 paragraphs, talking down on us championship lot as if we know nowt. When infact we probably know a hell of a lot more. My view was an honest assessment from someone has watched played Rugby for over 30 years.
@jaybs
"""If I could have 1 pence for every "Get Em on side" at northern grounds I would be a millionaire, Batley did their fair share as well! LOL"""
Maybe us Northerners understand the game more and know what were looking at.

| I do find it mad, when Northerners say they have a better view on the game, shame about all the great players then, not from North, like lets say, Stacey Jones, Andrew Johns, Steve Menzies, Leulai family players, oh, plus Any other clueless Ozzie/Kiwi player etc, Mel Meniga, Brad F, and who was that great player just retired from footie, whats his name, Darren lockyer, shall we stop now....
I was at the game, me, a clueless Southerner, travelled all over the world watching RL, have watched over 600 games, yes six hundred games, the conditions were a leveller on Sunday, rain, slope and really pride did a good thing to Batley, Broncos, were horrified by the day out, they just got on with it and won, Batley were not cheated out of the game, they just lost a close game, simple.
Even, if you lament the poor French ref, Mr Alibert, did he really deserve the abuse, he took at the end of the game, some really shameful batley folk, took more pride in ref baiting, than actually clapping off the there team.
WITHOUT THE REF'S, THERE WILL BE NO GAME LEFT TO WATCH, WHO WOULD WANT TO DO IT..????
Batley deserve real credit for the performance they put in, but they could not just go the extra mile to win game, they did themselves proud, its never gonna be a case of northern/southern bashing etc, reality check, game comes first, WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER

| We were there, we froze, we got soaked, we were told by one fan we were London scum but still came away laughing as the rest of the fans were such a great bunch.
Pitch was horrendous and how either team managed to catch anything was amazing! The sloping pitch was awesome, tv does not do it justice maybe Batley are part mountain goat? Once question though... how come Dorn was on the bench and not used?
