Why is it only my "doom and gloom" comments are picked up on, and not others? There are a select band of people on here, including myself, who know what we are talking about, and don't just have blind faith. You think the pre-season campaign has been good enough? Do you think our recruitment has been good enough? My "doom and gloom" began before the season started last year and look what happened there?

Your the one that seems to have blind faith, what to you expect a club like ours to acheive then? Its not the clubs fault that the Celtic game was called off, hardly any clubs have had a proper pre-season.
I think the signings are the best we can do atm. Ben Jones-Bishop has the potential to be a star this season, and Oliver Wilkes has always impressed me.
If we could afford to sign someone like Greg Inglis im sure we would but its not possible

I have no faith in our club whatsoever at the moment. I expect our club to be competitive like it has been in previous years and not be a joke like they were in the second half of last season. Is that too much to expect? It isn't the clubs fault no, but the fact remains that the club's planned pre-season was a shambles right from the start.

I agree with regards to Ben Jones-Bishop, but the weaknesses in the team from last season have not been addressed, a point which has been made by many on here, and not just me. Oliver Wilkes is average at best, pretty much a direct replacement for Chad Robinson, and questions must be asked what happened there as a quota spot and a huge chunk of salary is just floating about doing nothing.

I think the Robinson salary will be used and I for one think a lot quicker than was envisaged due to Purdo's injury.

Just got back from the game.

Not a bad hit out from both teams who were playing mixed sides. Skolars even playing some non squad players.

Skolars came close a few times to scoring but some errors on a very wet day put pay to that.

Barry Mc after the game said who knows how quins will play next week given that this is the first run out and the lack of pre season training due to the weather.

A good crowd in attendance. At a guess more than last year.

As for match updates

I thought Skolars went OK-Had a lot more ball than last year-tended to bottle it 10 yards out

As for us- Introduced a few moves such as ball going through the back of the first runner then going through the back of the second runner offering the option of hitting the runners- Full back chimed into the line a few times

Used a quick inside ball(flick) a few times-Im not sure that works at SL level

A lot of spilled ball due to the rain.

Gale went well at first receiver and Wilkes looked strong at 8
