In fairness he’s given his reasons now, I think there’s consensus on here that it looks like the wrong approach but we’ll have a much better idea as to the lay of the land once the Widnes game is over both in terms of on and off field performance. I’m hoping to go along with my son and see for myself - others might want to give it one last throw of the dice as well and then we’ll know.

Are those the real reasons though ? Maybe he thinks the move to Wimbledon stands us in better stead for any SL restructure and he can get away with minimal spend on the squad in the meantime. The flaw in that plan is that to build the fan base he will need people to come more than once.

Nope, can't always buy success but a season of being competitive will be great. Looking forward to a few good games - Fev, York, Newcastle but more than anything singing the lads on.

Yes he did. I take Dex at face value and welcome him. We’ve accused the club of having poor communication with fans let’s set a higher standard. The forum benefits from differing views - it’s more lively.
In any event whilst I welcome Dex’s positive intervention I’m not sure in in total agreement especially in respect of the merits of the Fev Rovers game. I’m not certain at all that will have much entertainment value (for us). Our performance in 2020 was revolting and our side looks on paper weaker and theirs stronger.

I genuinely think we will be in a dog fight to avoid the drop come august. It is thoroughly depressing to think that the penny still hasn't dropped that a competitive side combined with a structured marcomms plan is key to making this move worthwhile.

What's great about this is not the fact that there is a lot of negativity on here but the fact that you are all still interested and probably will be even if stood on the terraces watching them get beaten a fair bit. I can't say that I'm a fan of expansionism but you are established and with motivation (most seasons) are bound to remain.

I would not assume that most folks posting here are likely to buy ST's to PL or attend most games until we see substantial changes to how the club is run. For instance for the three of us, we are not paying around 120GBP (ticket costs + travel) to see the squad get tonked by 60 by Fev. Same for games vs Fax, Leigh, Batley, Bradford, Newcastle, York etc, unless we see a clear plan on how the club decide to strengthen the squad so we are competitive.

So we will be very targetted on which games we attend, and its likely only to be a handful at most this season. We won't be going to Widnes, and we will take the decision on Haven based on how the team do in the games prior to that.

And before we get accused of being fair weather fans, we have been ST holders (gold ST holders) since 2000, and we attended every game in that span pretty much until Covid hit. Not to mention buying tops every year plus other goodies etc... So we have put money into this club over the years, but we are not funding the rent for PL, until we see we have a squad which can compete
