| Quote ="sogspurs"There's a story on code13 saying it's one of 4 places next year: Stoop, brentford, Orient, Gillingham.
The more this discussion goes on, the more
I appreciate the stoop, it's a great ground and easy to get to, it's not perfect but no where is at the moment.
I couldn't deal with Gillingham, the cost of getting down there on the train every week adds up as well to make it impractical for many of our current fans'"
The Stoop is the best by a country Mile. However until we get a winning team on the Park we will never have the chance of getting a decent crowd.
Maybe the rational is if we cant get bigger crowds lets live on less money. DH cant keep putting the same money in as he has been as he retires soon

| It's been suggested elsewhere that Brisbane Road isn't up to SL standard, capacity and pitch size being issues, which would tend to rule that ground out unless we get a promise that there will be some major fudging of the categories next time licenses come up.
Gillingham is effecitively a different part of the country, even if it's still in the south east, so having the "London" club playing out of a small town down in Kent would be Union-esque in its styling.
I don't know if Griffin Park meets current SL standards, I would seriously doubt it unless it has had a massive overhaul in the last 5 years. To move from one of the better grounds in SL to a hole we'd need a pretty big plan for getting out again, unless of course we buy some wasteland and offer up an imaginary stadium like certain clubs.

Well at least Brentford are being mentioned 'officially' now. As far as the fan base is concerned Brentford has to be the best choice for retaining what we have - assuming we leave the Stoop. Never liked the ground but enjoyed the Griffin pre match.

Then your conclusion is then DH told Stevo in confidence, we will be moving to one of the on the road grounds, so is he trying to throw everyone?

| What makes me chuckle is that some time back I posted that Jim Dymock might be an idea for our new coach and the media blow it up out of all proportion. Journalism must be a nice little earner - all you have to do is trawl the forums and make up a story from any garbage (like my posts) that happens to be lying around

We could certainly build our fan base up a bit before the move - if its really going to happen.

| Well I hope we stay at the Stoop out of those, unless there's an option for Wimbledon.
Leyton Orient - it's closer to me, but all our community/schools work is on the other side of London and constantly moving back and forth across London holds no merit.
Brentford - don't like the stadium if I'm honest, plus it's much harder to get to than the Stoop is.
Gillingham - certainly hope not, otherwise I'm not supporting the club anymore.
AFC Wimbledon - I'd love that if we moved in the new stadium, though there's no proof to the rumours. Maybe play at the Stoop or Brentford until it's built if we can sort something out.

I started the thread with Gillingham in the title not because i'm ''wrong'' but because the Sun, correctly or incorrectly, stated that the Broncos will be moving to Gillingham next year. sorry for the misunderstanding

| As for Gillingham - HELL NO, I WON'T GO. Too far, too expensive to get to and IT'S NOT FRIGGING LONDON. If it is for only one season, I will do the occasional game and if I take the fast train it is not too long to get there.
A tie-up with the Dons would be excellent as would the Bees. We have far more affinity with football fans than the twickers types. Still if the Broncos move out of town, it will leave London open for the Skolars when they win Championship One next season!

Sky at 10.26am this morning say this morning we are to move 45 miles to play in Kent! - I hope this is wrong as we are supposed to be London! I think the Club need to come out and make a clear statement as soon as possible to stop all this speculation.

| If it is true, after 25 years as a season ticket holder, the game against HKA will be my last (as I suspect it will be for 90% of the present support).
I cannot begin to imagine what the logic for such a move would be: a one off crowd of less than 4000 hardly points to sustainable interest, particularly if the club continues its usual policies of put on a game and see how many turn up and in the meantime let's dream up ways to hack off our support (an absolute constant over those 25 years).
Our one saving grace is that we have given the game a presence at top level in the capital and it appears the RFL won't even have that. I wonder what they make of it all.
if the worst happens, I will just stick with Skolars and Hemel (assuming the RFL don't schedule their matches on the same day)

| So when DH departs or his money runs out what happens to the future of SL club in the South? Staying put in one place would be more sensible and the Stoop is a good ground, but economic pressure and possible alternative sources of funding may be playing a big part in the decision to move. It will be interesting to see what the club has to say on the matter and finally confirm or squash the rumour of Kent or anywhere else that has been identified.

| I am so angry...I cannot believe that even our club can be so stupid!
What on earth suggests to them that we are going to get anywhere near sustainable gates at Gillingham? We'll lose at least half our current fanbase (probably more).
Can they not realise that our fans that are in London will find it too expensive to get to games in Gillingham (who will want to pay at least £20 to get to a game?)
What a kick in the teeth for those Londoners like my other half who have followed this club around London for 32 years? Completely barmy.

| If some sort of official announcement is made before the HKR game, then that will be our last chance to stage a protest of our disapproval of any such move and aim it directly at DH and Gus.
Its now time to vote with your feet. Going to any football ground is a backward step - stay at the stoop.

| If it was a short-term thing then a lot of us could live with it, but one has to doubt that that's the case.
Moving away from the Stoop is one thing, moving so far out of London is completely idiotic!

My thoughts entirely, after 32 years this year will be the last, as 'London' will not exist.
Will put my efforts in supporting our only remaining side - THE SKOLARS!
