| Sounds an even contest at Salford (6 all at h-t).
Would like to see Leeds knocked out, for obvious reasons (having said that, I'm not sure we've got a better record against Salford).

| I know this may sound odd and quite prepared to be shot down and told i'm crazy.
But in way as scappy as it sounded and not counting dropped ball and knock ons (dare any SL team to go there and play in them conditions and not do the same)..But with way we had to defend and play and try to come up with other ideas to score. could it have done us the world of good, yes it was Batley and not taking anything away from them as they throw everything at us and we all said before the game they would give us a run for our money if not beat us.
So in away im glad it wasnt a run away score to us, they gave us a workout in defence that in my opinion is something we neeeded. they made us think in attack and try and come up with something diffrent.
I was at the Dewbury game and didnt feel we got anything out of that game, but listening to this game i felt we did.

| Agree, alanw. Todays game was a arm wrestle, a world apart from the tonking we gave Dewbury. I've never been a fan of one-sided contests.

| This is a poor result for London. Super League club should beat a Championship club by at least 15-20 points. 12-32 would have been a good result. How could London let Batley score 3 tries?
Your coach is not good enough for Super League. Powell is of the quality of Kevin Walters, and Kevin Walters was a big failure at Catalans.

| Yes Jean and how could the mighty Wigan "let" Featherstone score 3 tries? These things can happen in Cup games (and particularly when vile weather evens things out).

Not a poor result because all you need in a cup match is a win. But I'd have liked us to win more convincingly. 3 tries? Last one was probably because we switched off after Randall's try, as predicted.
Won't argue with you about the coaches though.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Definitely a character-building game for us, much more effective than a pre-season boot camp in a forest somewhere.
There seemed to be quite a lot of "bother" in the game. Hope we don't get any bans from the disciplinary committee.

| Maybe some other London fans agree with me about the result?
London has some very good players, who are of the high NRL quality, like Gower, Robertson, Kaufusi and Rodney. So I think we can agree about the coach being not good enough, yes?

laughable post mate "London must have switched off" .....how about they were clinging on for dear life and benefitted some very dubious Alibert decisions. I read some of the stupid posts about putting 50 on them.....batley switched of to let randall score and up until that point it looked like a batley win for me.......anyway you got home quick

| About the coldest afternoon I have ever spent! some of our players must have had a shock with the state of the ground of a past age and the way it slopes!
I would always rather see a more equal game and the conditions were more what kept the game so close. I did not hear the attendance but there were not as many Batley fans as many of their trolls here predicted! and at least we seemed more than a bus!
We are not the first or the last team that will have a close run game, but in the conditions I can't knock anyone, we are in the next round that is what is important. Next week is going to be completely different. Need something hot to eat now. Finally anyone who gloats about how I got home, I live currently in the North and I travel more miles watching games in a month then you most likely do in a season!
Just read the after match quotes from John Kear and he is the gentleman that he is and accepted his players give there best but our defence was good and kicking game was better! if only supporters could only be a little more open minded! and gracious.

| Maybe RP should get our guys some Oyster cards and go to Wembley for a tour. You never know, a lucky draw (again) and a fluke win and we could be ................
no, I know it is a dream, gawd knows how the club would market it! Let's see Mr Lister and Gutters get their teeth into that one. And what would they charge for a coach to Wembley?

| Can anyone who attended tell me how Channing and Bolger went. I didn't glean much from the radio - dont remember Bolger even being mentioned? The comentators only seemed to be able to identify a few high profile Bronco players I've heard Channing is one for the future so im particullary curious to see how he played.

If Keer was our coach, do you think we would have won more convincingly?

| It pi$$ed down all the way up, it pi$$ed down all through the game and it pi$$ed down all the way back. The pitch was a quagmire. Batley's effort was tremendous and they should be proud. Broncos performance was committed but error strewn. Same old supsects I am afraid. A win is a win but I think we made it more hard work than it needed to be.

I would think the club would have some contacts that could get them a bus there for £20 each?

There are some games that don't bear too much analysis. Playing in a monsoon on the side of a hill which resembles Paschendale, against a team who see the game as their cup final worthy of a once-in-a-season effort, in front of 1,000 shivering speccies who are all wishing they'd stayed at home, is probably one of those games. I understand hypothermia was a significant risk for the players !
A win's a win, and after the Featherstone win over Castleford, it could have been a real banana skin.
Much more important game next week. Bradford at home (sort of) should be a winnable game. Bradford aren't as bad as they were last year, but they're still not great. A win against them could be a turning point for the season.

| Roy,
Fully agree with you, to Batley this was there cup final, as was cas and wigan for fev
They were playing on a pitch that they knew and were used too, why do you think fev were able to run Wigan so close!!
A win is a win, lets just see if we get a decent draw in the next round
More importantly, lets win our next away game against Bradfurt, yep in my eyes its an away game

You must be a happy man Quinny (still think you should now be calling yourself Broncy) if you can get a laugh by coming onto page 9 of a thread without reading anything that went before.
My journey home was fast and effortless, all thanks to modern technology. Great isn't it? I did my fair whack of standing on open terraces in wind, rain and snow half a century ago. Hope you enjoyed the game.

| As I said on Facebook and Twitter - if you give Batley a 10 point start for home and the slope (I couldn't believe how much of a slope it is), 10 points for the absolutely horrendous conditions and 10 points for Kears coaching ability over RP then it was a good win!
March to the Arch part 3 to come!
