Why appoint an interim coach for the off season? Surely we should be appointing a Head Coach ASAP to be involved in player recruitment before pre-season starts? If they think Rob is the man for the job - give him it!!

I guess the only reason for an interim coach is to acccelerate the process of actually assembling a team. There is no way that Rob Powell should be be a permanent coach.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to give it to Latham Tawhai as wasn't Powell going to the Lebanon?

IMO, if we can't get Kear, Noble or a top Aussie we should stick with Powell and Tawhai. They have brought the youngsters through, they know the London scene and can develop more. We should try and get Dave Rotheram to help out.

We should also appoint Welsi, as media man, he would be well worth it and we have a vacancy.

I normally agree with most of your posts as you speak a lot of sense, and I even notice you agreeing with me on frequent occasions - but you are well wide of the mark here, IMO.

We do not need someone with knowledge of the London scene - we need someone with the knowledge of the Rugby League world in order to assemble a proper side and move onwards and upwards. Powell in particular is vastly underqualified - I'd sooner see one of our players coach the side.

I see after week 1 of the play offs the only British coach involved at the business end of the season is, um, Tony Smith.

No, but to end the search there and to plump for Powell would be an abysmal decision.

If St David Hughes can afford and can tempt a top Aussie coach, that's the way to go. But I'm not going to tell DH what to do until I'm in the position to put a few million quid into the club.

I recall that Lenegan said when replacing Noble with Maguire that he wasn't just buying Maguire's own skills but also his knowledge of coaching systems, tools, etc. as used so successfully (albeit subsequently under something of a cloud) at Melbourne. I suppose he may have been trying to sugar the pill a bit for Noble's benefit, but the proof of the pudding has been in the Pies performances this season.

Unfortunately no, It's mentioned in Stevo's column on page 4 of this weeks League Express no names given, Paul Blanchard and David Hughes were supposedly sitting down on Monday just gone to compile the short list of 4.

No doubt someone subscribing to the online version may be able to provide a link

After being encouraged to buy RL World by paddock to read the ground breaking interview with the marketing bod at quins I can recommend just waiting until PB/DH decide on who they want.......The RL press are at best, lazy and at worst, full of letters from disgruntled northerners upset because their grat club is being overlooked for SL after they had 4 port-a-loos installed and changed the chip oil in the caravan
