No I am sure I read it in the new edition of the 40/20 Magazine which also talked about us looking towards a 15,000 seater stadium of our own which the RFL agreed with but the area has to be right.

This is an RL forum so I won't get started on matters roundball, but Barnet council are a filthy, horrible, repugnant bunch of self-important f**ktards. I've lived in some pretty ropey districts of London council-wise, but I've never heard of a council actively seeking to destroy the one professional sports team that operates within their boundaries - one of the few institutions that generates wealth for the area and gets kids playing sport in the borough.
Though it would make my journey to the games nice and easy I do hope London Broncos (or whatever we now find ourselves called) never make the decision to move back to the borough of Barnet. Stay where you are, I'll come to you!

Promise? or Business Plan to develop & secure Rugby League in London.
Have a pitch similar to the one Widnes Vikings are installing (if it works, though it seems to from last week's demonstration) and use the ground 7 days a week for school rugby and all Academy and Under 23 matches, making everyone feel part of the club as a community and the area based in.

Well Dave that is why you glass is always half empty and others like myself it is Half Full! we are making progress with youth rugby & The Academy that was never felt possible at long last, it does not happen over night but with hard work it can and does happen! I have been in many business positions what many have said it can't be done, it won't succeed, but you have to try if you Believe and show those who doubted they are wrong.
No way as a club can we just sit still and never think of progressing and developing, if we do we may as well pack up shop now & forget London with rugby league once and for all, gladly there are many who still say NO! we will not just give in, clubs in the North have been going 100 years plus and still need to grow and develop we are still young as a club so we have to fight on and succeed.

| Given that stadia take several years from the identification of a site, and we haven't even looked at which area would want us, or even take us. This business plan should look at this, being 'realistic, sustainable and achieveable' but it seems like it is more Field of Dreams than it is fiscal thinking.
It is good to have a long-term vision, but it shouldn't be a major focus for the club as we should focus of the current licensing period and allow the RFL and someone at the club to look at possible areas. An all-year round and all-community pitch would sell the idea better to a council.

I don't disagree, your glass could be overflowing and the idea of a 15,000 seater stadium of our own within the next 20 years would still be barmy.

I'd be inclined if you said ten years, purely on how long a stadium takes to complete with the planning side of things, but 20 years and barmy seems to be not a case of glass half full or half empty. They say their glasses are half-full are considered optimists. Yeah, but shouldn't we be more specific about the contents of the glass? If it's a glass of sh't, I'm going half-empty. I don't like sh't as an optimist. "Yeah, we gotta half-empty sh't glass right here."
It would be barmy to think that we could not achieve the aim of having our own stadium inside 20 years. Just depends what's in your cup I guess.

So your saying it is not possible for the London club to build a 15,000 seater stadium within a 20 period time frame and have it come from a sound business plan. Surely it is possible for the club to be marketed to the people and for the people to buy into the concept of a rugby league club in London, if the club are willing to put in the groundwork now, on the make the public aware angle, not actual digging up the earth.

| Again, the powers that be have ruined the clubs chances of an increased gate and we're still 3 months away from 2012!! When it was announced the club had plans to change their name, it should have been done within a month, it would have then been in place for the club to try and make some sort of marketing plan at the back end of the 2011 season. Look at Huddersfield Giants, for example, they had plans out in June/July for 2012 where it was £95 for a Season Ticket for the first 2,000 who bought them (iirc), how could Quins do that? "Yeah, come and watch a team with no name, no team colours and no badge" in 2012. It just wouldn't have worked.

Season tickets should have been available towards the end of the season when those on freebies were flocking through the gates. Fine, they won't have bought them there and then, but at least they would see that getting into RL is an affordable past-time and consider it in the future. Now, they have just cleared off, and soon the club that they went to see will no longer exist. Its laughable.

| Also, there's two big games in a couple of months between England, Wales, Australia and NZ, the RFL will be hoping for 50,000+ in Wembley, ok, not all of those will reside in the South East but I can bet my life that the Quins marketing team have done absolutely nothing.

You do know that Gus reads the forums and according to the flatcappers in the North we are the devil incarnate so I would watch what you say, although it maybe a fairly safe bet tbh.

| What Gus should do is ensure that everything is up and running for the game at Wembley on the 5th November. A promotional leaflet on every seat and a page in the programme and the details of everyone who bought a ticket south of Brum. That would be a good start. Invite them all to a fans day to meet the players and select their seats. I think I am turning into the new Gutterfax! Help.................

So, you think it is entirely plausable for the club to go from the stumbling mess it has been recently to a stadium of their own.
Before you try to build a stadium for 15,000 fans....why not try and find the fans first? Just a thought........
1. The name change should have been complete by September 1st. If the club are waiting for a sponsor, then they should have still gone a head with the Broncos.....and the shirt design...and the ST prices......
2. Marketing at Wembley would be a waste of time and money.....we are not looking to attract fans from anywhere other than west London (or shouldn't be IMO)
3. Any marketing Plan should have been put together during the decision to change names.....it should have been a key element/reason for the name change.
I am 100% behind the club and the management in their campaign to attract more fans and attention to the club......I just dispair at times at the niavety displayed over and over again. Let's hope the massive marketing push isn't to take place a week before the season starts.......or worse still, even later than that.

There will probably be 10,000 Southern RL fans at Wembley it would be crazy not to inform them of our new existence, where else would you get that number in one place other than at a CC final? I guess the majority of our fans currently do not live in West London, I would love to see a core West London fan base but that will take time. These people exist already. It should be fish in a barrel time, if we can't get some of these along to the new venture we should give up. IMO
ps I hope you are enjoying the Union World Cup, I am, it reminds me how good league is!

BTW.....the in the other thread was more likely to catch you something......
Seriously...10,000 SE Based RL fans at the International? If they are RL fans then guess what? They already know we exist. I reckon there are between 1,000 and 1,500 SE RL fans that come to 1 or 2 games a year at the stoop already...they are Wigan or Saints fans. They are the ones we need to get back regularly.
To spend, what will be a lot of money, on a page in a programme or flyers on seats to attract people who already know we exist is stupidity on the scale not seen since we handed out Oyster covers in East London.

The shirt design is with the RFL to be signed off on according to Stevo on Boots n All yesterday, so if that is true then the club is at least taking baby steps forwards rather than the strides backwards over recent years. Hopefully more baby steps are made over the next week, but steps in the right direction would be welcome too.
