| Quote ="Cowgirl Nostalgist"Saracens would also be happy with crowds of 6,000.
That figure will include the 55,000 who turned up to the London Double Header at Twickenham and the thousands of free tickets they gave away to season ticket holders for the Biarritz Heineken Cup game.'"
Having just found some info on Saracens attendances last year, their highest attendance at Watford was 7,555 and their lowest was 5,799. Everyone involved with London RL would bite your arm off for those figures for the Broncos in 2013.

For the 12 home (at Watford) European cup and league games, their average was 6,667. If the three LV Cup games are factored in that will fall as it is effectively not far off a second team competition. If the three games at Wembley and Twickenham are included the average almost triples to 17,351!

To his credit GF didn't include the massed ranks of McFly fans in his attendance figures.
& given the fact Saffercens have scaled down their ambitions to a 10,000 capacity stadium neither do they.

jd......don't often see you in these parts. Interesting assumptions on how sarries will fill their ground.....did Quins RU go from 3k to 14k in 5 years doing the same thing?....the anti-union slant in this thread is shining through.....let's larf at the bigger and more successful code to hide our own games failings
Fact remains that Saracens, through whatever means, have an average attendance twice (or more) that, or more, of the London Broncos RL team....are building their own 10,000 seater stadium and have just recouped 40% of the cost for that is sponsorship.
As for the McFly event.....how anyone can rubbish the achievement and the associated publicity is beyond me....how a supporter of our club can dismiss it, points to insanity.
Nostalgic......you comment on the claims in 2009 that 15,000 fans per game was mentioned.....
2009/10 = 24,030 =#FF00003,380
2010/11 = 10,607 =#FF00003,124
2011/12 = 22,675 =#FF00003,020
33 home games over 3 seasons.......about 18k a game average.... =#FF00003,166
The above Sarries attendance stats include double header events as well as a couple of Wembley events....feel free to claim free tickets if you must. The figures in red are.......well.......you know what they are and they too include DOUBLE HEADERS AND FREE TICKETS

Nope.
They built from the bottom up which is why they attract genuinely good crowds all of the time.
Whereas Saffercens rely on OTR games to pad their attendance and look good to sponsors.
Apparently they're even contemplating a game in Belgium.

C'mon gf, we've done the 'something special happening at saffacens' before....In 2009, Edward Griffiths stated the Saffacens could no longer "flatline" on an 8,500K average attendance...After 3 yrs and milions of *ponds lost on the Wembley game there new stadium has a 10 k cap...money well spent in your opinion?

Simply put then, you're happier being a fan of a club with 3k fans in a rented ground that holds close to 5 times that amount, that is 100% reliant on the generosity of 1 bloke to survive, that has no back office staff other than a CEO who has presided over the last 12 months fiasco, and which will in all probability cease to exist as a SL/Professional entity past 2014......
.................rather than being a fan of a club that has a base of 6k to build on, a new ground that will require only 4k more to fill it, that regularly attracts more than a Broncos entire seasons attendance to 1 event game and that's just signed an 8 million pound sponsorship deal?
I get the impression you are just yanking my chain here.....otherwise, it's time to have a word with your carer about upping your meds

Let's see....why would they want to look good?
Could it be:
To attract Potential Investors?
To attract sponsors?
To give the impression of success to attract the 3,100 or so fans they will need to fill their new stadium?
or could it be that the guy footing the bill at the moment KNOWS that without the investors, sponsors and extra fans, he and his club really will be buggered........
........switch to clip of the HMS London Broncos RL sailing blissfully towards an iceberg with Captain Hughes and his lightweight crew of misguided supporters gllefully waving and waithing for the HMS RFL to come to their rescue......because for the last 17 years they decided against sorting out any lifeboats.
BTW......do you really reckon that a german company have just thrown money at Sarries based on a McFly concert and a double header at Twickenham?

What other reason is there?
I suppose it's possible Saracens spun them a line about about global brand recognition in South Africa.
Cos circa 5,000 people ensconsed in the nether regions of Barnet certainly don't amount to a hill of beans.

Obviously in terms of mugging off Allianz it's a success.
In relative terms Saracens are still a failure in my book.
Umpteen games at Wembley and silverware in the trophy cabinet and they've got about 4,000 more fans than a club that is being run into the ground.

| Cowgirl has made quite a few statements that many in Union would agree with regarding Sarries financial future.
If Quins RU stated that the breakeven for a Union club is 12,000 paying punters at 10,000 seater stadium seems rather stupid.
I believe, and can confirm when I get home that Sarries made a loss of circa £6m last year.
This is from the Times in 2010
Quote
01 April 2010
Nigel Wray today revealed Saracens will lose nearly £3million this season, with the other 11 Guinness Premiership clubs on course for a total deficit of more than £20m.
Sarries' decision to hire Wembley for four matches this term at £200,000 per time, plus the heavy impact the credit crunch has had on corporate hospitality revenues, has left the club with yet another disturbing balance sheet.
While Saracens' future is safe thanks to their South African investors, Wray is calling on the Rugby Football Union to increase the funding to clubs to stop the sport from suffering the kind of problems that have hit football with Portsmouth and Crystal Palace going into administration this term.
The chairman, who has spent more than £15m bankrolling Saracens since 1995, is alarmed by the situation, estimating Premiership losses this term will be more than £20m with only two clubs making a profit.'"
Since then, I think that Quins has joined Leicester and Northampton in making a profit.
The truth is that few sports clubs make any money and in both codes of Rugby are hugely relliant on their Owners.
Are Sarries a success compared to us? Financially, no, we're about the same (if my memory is correct).
Will they be able to build and become financially viable, possibly. Will Broncos, not a chance.
