I am quite positive about the season as it happens but primarily because we will hopefully see some competitive games which have been sadly lacking in recent seasons.

| gotnofax likes the sparring we all know he is Gus's love child really. Its called having a bit of fun sometimes, and quite nice that we have not had to resort to emergency swearing think it was suggested it was banter a while back.
The daft thing is we all know its been poop, and its rubbish that we are where we are, but you have to get on with it don't you and look to the future.
I actually think this season will be quite fun until we get to the stressfull end of the season, I still think their will be a surprise or two at the end of the season, but that's my opinion, other folk think different, I just hope I am the one proven right in Sept.

Billy calls people moonies. I on the other hand below each to their own and regardless of your preference, the mind numbing stats put me in the majority. As usual, because it doesn't sit with your agenda, you deride me......and you wonder why the greater public have a stereotypical view of shoulder chipped flat cap wearing, whippet racing northern rl fans.

I have always supported most of the points you make in your posts. I also find your stats a telling and sad indictment of how the club has been run. No-one on this site would argue about your views about Gus. As to David Hughes, whilst many would agree he has made some appalling decisions your attacks are way over the top. Even if the club was achieving 4-5k attendances a week, they would need financial support and you cannot criticise David's support of the club.
HOWEVER, I am getting fed up of every thread turning into the same rant? And I use the word carefully - every thread is exactly the same. I think you and Micky etc should take your personal insults off line, it's boring. Also as someone born in Hull, and a season ticket holder at FC for 20 years I resent being called a flat cap, flat earth, whippet loving...... I dislike the North for its weather and some of the people are narrow minded, but I suspect no more than in the south! Many are broad minded and want London to succeed.
I am looking forward to next season, because we should/ will win a few games. After the last 3 years that's a bonus. If that makes me a stooopid moron, then I accept the charge. I realise we are playing at a lower level, realise that the wins will not be as valuable as beatin SL teams - but hey ho my expectations have lowered.
So why not give the Gus, David H, we're doomed, the past 3/5 years, a rest - it's boring

| I took a 3 month voluntary break from this forum Las year and other than one initial thread about everyone's favourite game (an off season topic mid season) there was more action on the skolars forum on here.
I accept I am repetitive, but as I have already asked, is it wrong to question the clubs stated aim when that is the thread topic
Hughes is in charge still and very little has changed.......thats all I am saying.
As for flat caps......it wasn't directed at you, but if it fits.

| Brian, i accept the point gutters likes reacting to my posts and I do like baiting him a little bit. I do try my best to stay away from insulting anyone, being a born and bred northerner myself am pretty impressed with your dedication to the FC cause I FWIW am a York fan through and through so used to supporting lower league teams. In my view the wins will be just as valuable as its the only way we will get back into SL. I actually think the hard thing is staying back up there when and if we get there.

I left the North in 1985, I go back because my parents are still alive and live there. If they were not I would never go north of Watford. I was a Hull season ticket holder 1963 -1986' have supported London from 1999.
I enjoy rugby, wam interested in other people's views, but frankly have now no time for you.

Sorry...the cap fitting comment was meant as humour. It would seem you're a tad touchy about your northern roots, so I'll steer clear from now on, but no offence was meant.
As for the thread and it's title, the fact that the club has declared a return to the SL is what it wants and expects leaves it open to question. It's not repetitive to ask "what has changed to make this stated aim a real possibility"?
What has changed?
A few Tweets and a couple of FB posts and some people here are acting like we're Barcelona FC David Hughes has said he'll back us for a few years.....I could have sworn he said he'd back us for 3 years in 2011 yet "wobbled" after 2 years.....do we trust him now more than we did in 2011? Yes.....it's in the past, but if a dog bites you once he should never be give the opportunity to do it again!
Our Coach has very little in the way of a track record that is quantifiable. He has assisted at 3 NRL clubs but never looked like stepping up and has coached Malta, who I have no doubt the defunct Hammersmith Hills Hoists would beat with ease. He has a 16 game record with 1 win against a 2nd tier Leeds pre challenge Cup final...his side shipped 47 points per game, so no better than Rea had performed in the first 11 games...although we scored 1 more try per game under Grima.
The squad he has assembled, no matter what way you spin it, is made up of journeymen and a scattering of young talent. They have been together for 8 weeks and include a player coming out of retirement after 2 years.
Until a competitive PTB takes place, all we have is and wind, with smoke and mirrors.........I want us to be as competitive as possible and will be delighted if we make the middle 8.....but the reality is, until they KO the season, little of any substance has changed at the club.
By all means be excited. By all means look forward to seeing us win some games, but never lose sight of the fact we are winning against Doncaster, a part time outfit of Plumbers, brickies and bakers. Hardly friggin Wigan, is it and it's Wigan that the fans will come to see....and without the fans....well, ask St David of Swinton how that's worked out for him so far!

Accept everything you say re coach, team, opposition etc. but why should I be miserable and doom laden? As for the stated aim - what's the alternative? We aim to finish above last place?
I understand realism and I know how difficult it will be to get promotion, but I would rather go into the season optimistic (deluded?) than with your attitude, which seems to be that you want them to fail so you can post "I told you so......."

| I have never gone to any game to watch Wigan!
I have gone to London games to watch London.
I still think the club can achieve the aim, and still reckon the super 8 will provide a shock or 2.
London has always tended to be made up of journeyman sadly it's down to the fact the majority of quality English rl players live in the area where rl is played, trying to get them to move or commute to London is always gonna be a struggle.
How much coaching experience had mac had before he came to us?

I spent nearly 10 years posting solutions.........now the reality is whilst the club are making positive noises, they are again misguided. By all means aim for the stars, but the reality is if we miss, we are buggered and that what's the biggest worry. If we don't go up and fail again in 2016 with considerably less funding from central, where do we look to? SL? I for one think our best chance of getting back up rests on the Million Quid game being a hammering in 2015 and 16 where the worst team in SL mullers the best in the championship.......then the championship chairmen will realise they've been had and we'll be back to 1 up 1 down....then Hughes can buy us back into SL.
Happy to be proven wrong, but I am not in the minority who think that anyone being promoted this year will have more to do with a sl side imploding than anything else.

I hope not, with Jarrod Sammut and a couple of Super League players in the side, including one Jon Wallace - although no longer Matt Gafa.

Brian, let me give you a guide to the gutterfax publicity vehicle that is the Broncos forum. It goes a bit like this.
1) a poster puts something up vaguely positive (because lets face it, we like watching rugby and continue to turn up to games despite all the shenanigins off the pitch)
2) gutterfax flames them for being positive, and bangs on about people who've long since left the club (I call it 'Gustalgia', the longing for the days when he had an easy target for all that pent up ire)
3) the poster says "I know it's not perfect, but we can't change the past"
4) gutterfax writes a small essay with a blizzard of statistics (or more likely just copies and pastes it, because it never varies much)
5) the poster tries to continue being vaguely positive because they have no power to change stuff off the pitch and just want to watch rugby
6) gutterfax writes a spleen filled rant filled with thinly disguised swearing and highly personal insults
Repeat. Ad infinitum. Until the poster no longer comes on the forum.

| Well, I've finally been tempted to come out of Winter Hibernation & contribute to this discussion.
I think the reason a lot of people don't bother to post during the off season is that news depends on rumours, speculation & the occasional announcement of any relevance from the club.
I'd like to throw my hat into the ring with those who are positive about our upcoming season & say that I can't wait for the friendly against The Skolars. It will be great to catch up with other deluded friends (who still turn up after 5 or 6 years of mediocre rugby) & share my hopes for the new season.
Yes we are in the Championship this year but at least we will compete & it will make a nice change to turn up to a game knowing we have a chance of winning instead of how many we will lose by.
I feel Joe Grima will be good for us, as player after player who have signed for the club have stated they were convinced to sign, by his enthusiasm & aims for rugby in London. So his "Man Management" skills are obviously a cut above what we have seen with our previous two managers.
Add your names to the few who have posted hope for the future on here & let's turn this into a positive thread instead of a "Doom & Gloom" one.
