| I think a lot is down to what we could offer as a contract for a new coach and one of the established names
I feel a bit sorry for Rob, i dont think the team performances, or lack of can be totally down to him, basics!!!! coaches should not be teaching basics!!

| I think the only realistic ones out of those are Kear and Morgan and I think they'd both be an improvement on Powell.
Do not, under any circumstances, appoint McRae.

| So much speculation! Noble was being seen as the one for Hull as he knows the new owner, Morgan to Castleford? Harris to be assistant at Wigan? only time will tell.

| Both coaches were on BBC at weekend and when asked about coaching both said they want to get back into it and Morgan said he wasn't going home to Aus both he and his family want to stay in UK.
So like most here i would go for Noble as a DoR with Powell as head coach, and move Dave Howells brother (sorry cant remember his name) up to assistant to Powell. Only say that as read here from people who have been impressed with the way the U20's have played under him.
And if London is not want Noble looking for then i would be more then happy to have Morgan as head coach with same setup of Powell and Howell under him.

Sounds good to me, both Noble and Morgan have the experience that we need as a coach. If neither of them are interested then its time to find an assistant at an Aussie club who wants to make a name for himself and who maybe has got a 'bit of the mongrel' about him.

| Sorry but these calls to have Powell as a Head Coach effectively being advised by Noble are ridiculous, but typical of London RL supporters who are overly sympathetic to "good blokes". Not that I can ever see Noble coming down South, but he would HAVE to be installed as Head Coach and not in some other farical Rugby Union-esque role. Powell has acheived nothing with us and doesn't warrant being Head Coach while there are so many established coaches looking for work.

| Powell needed assistance earlier this year and didn't get any, so he will either be demoted or we will stick by him. The time for DOR was when we still had a shot at play-off football and Powell's career was in its infancy. It could have helped then, now it is new head coach or continue to back the coach like we are with proper signings.

No, but he didn't do much at Auckland (or less surprisingly, France). He apparently reviewed Cronulla's coaching in 2006 and they've hardly been on fire since then.
The point is that simply that because someone has been head coach in Super League, or the NRL, it doen't mean they will do a great job at every club they go to.
There is no reason for me to suspect that Brian Noble would do anything good at Quins RL.
If I were to go for a Director Of Rugby type, it would be Shaun McRae, and he hardly set the world alight with Salford or South Sydney. For a coach, John Kear would appeal as he has won the Challenge Cup with two clubs and helped Wakefield avoid relegation.

What he did at Wigan is keep them in the SL and started to rebuild the team that you see today.

| I doubt Noble would ever come to London, in the past he has commuted home, his family seem to like being in Yorkshire, now Australia may be a different attraction!
If we could have got an established coach in when the wheels well and truly come off this season, there would have been no harm in having Powell as assistant, it is not about being a good guy.

| I'd like to see Powell given a go with a stronger side, he inherited a very weak side, one that had gone backwards under BMcD, and nobody really expected much although we were given false hope with some early wins, before reality set back in. We look like we've got a reasonable halfback situation for next season, okay we need another 6 decent signings but Gower, Witt and Bryant are better than what we had lined up this time last season, and if we get Kaufusi we'll be on a roll (although I'm not over the moon about rumours of Rinaldi and Worrincy coming back).

| On paper, Wakefield and Crusaders are stronger than Quins. In fact, it's not difficult to argue that Quins have the weakest squad in the competition. They've won 5, drawn 1 and lost 17. Crusaders have won 5, lost 18. Wakey have won 6, lost 17. Crusaders are coached by Harris, and Wakey by Kear. On any objective view of coaching added value, you'd have to say that in the battle of the wooden spoon teams, Kear and Harris have achieved no more, and probably less, than Powell.
Of course it seems perverse to argue that a coach has done well with a 5/1/17 record, especially with some of the dismal performances this year. But what Powell, Kear, Harris, and to a lesser extent Potter at Bradford, show is that ultimately, what determines the majority of your results is the quality of your players.
I think those people calling for Harris or Kear to replace Powell are blindly looking for a scapegoat for our failings, when the table clearly shows that they offer no better results from slightly better resources.
Give Powell a decent squad next year (and it looks like there's some quality coming with Witt and Gower), and then we'll see how he does compared to the coaches of the mid-table sides like Hull KR, Salford and Castleford. But as far as I'm concerned, while some results have been disappointing, occasionally agonising, Powell's got the team to produce about as good a set of results as any reasonable comparison of squads would predict at the start of the season.

I'd agree with this, however there's that nagging fear in the back of my mind - if results are no better next season, then we've wasted a big opportunity and we'll know someone else could have done a much better job. How many more seasons of moving sideways can the club afford?

I'd have more faith in Gower doing a better job himself.
