I wouldnt say totally out played us but played great tactics and won the arm wrestle!
That Randall 40/20 was brilliant and Chad more then made up for the Wigan game.

I thought Hull looked very impressive for the first half, although perhaps lacking real penetration when close to the tryline with Quins also defending well.
For once Quins really stepped it up in the second half, coming out looking alert and getting an early try after the break. A compelling game to watch on a chilly evening in difficult slippery conditions; I thought the visitors' heads perhaps dropped a bit (or maybe they just ran out of ideas) once Quins were two scores in front. They were however far superior in one aspect, that of kicking for field position. Apart from Randall's 40/20 and Dorn's brilliant narrow failure to score from his own kick off the back of a scrum around thirty metres out, all our kicks seemed to go straight down defenders' throats or out of play, whereas Hull consistently probed the vacant areas around the ten metre line or beyond, putting us under pressure as we had to retrieve the bouncing ball from near our own tryline.
Excellent win though. That's the best team we've beaten this season and I'm feeling a lot more confident for the cup tie than I was after the final hooter last Sunday!

Quins did everything right at the right times better than us through the full game. We maybe won the arm wrestle first 20 but that was us done.

| I was another watching at home. Thought that without our back three forwards plus Sharp and then Gafa we just couldn't win it. How wrong I was - hero Purdo somehow played, the last Chad standing was superb (Manly. why did you ever release him?) - excellent tactical victory.
Hull started with the idea of kicking to young O'C at every opportunity. It didn't work for them then they had no plan B.
Well done lads.

Purdham kick off the back of the scrum, unless I'm mistaken. Genuinely brilliant move, the same one that sent the equally eletric McGuire in during the world cup. Almost impossible to defend against as long as we don't telegraph it......I expect more tries this season from the move.

You're probably right. It was so unexpected I wasn't paying full attention until Dorn surged forward with the ball in flight. It was a bit like Haggerty's fifty metre interception try at Warrington last year in that I couldn't quite comprehend how it happened!

| Good second half performance i what was a tough, attritional game. We look a lot more disciplined this season in that we give away much fewer penalties, and we seem (at least to me) very fit. Standouts for me were Gale, Randall and Howell. The conditions meant it wasn't going to be an expansive, exciting game but this is the kind of match where we turn up as greater than the sum of our parts - unlike Hull who I think were below par. A large part of that was keeping Berrigan quiet.
A special mention to the very passionate Hull fans I was sat amongst - very noisy and enthusiastic. Its a shame therefore that all the noise they were making was about a referee from Dewsbury being a 'Biased cheat'. I can count about two occasions where Silverwood got things wrong. I mean I know we have a go at refs on this forum from time to time but what is it with some people?

| Good, gritty performance last night. Danny Orr was really weaving magic, Chad Randall has stepped up big time since the misplaced pass against Wigan - he was fantastic, and a superb 40/20. Jon Wells had another solid game and great to see Haggy back! Purdo's kick from the scrum - superb stuff - if not for the bounce it would've been genius.
After the reaction that Richard Silverwood got from Quins supporters last night, I'm surprised that no-one's mentioned his performance on here. He did appear to be somewhat Ganson-esque. But last word must go to Quins - great response to the Huddersfield reversal.

| Superb performance, I don't really remember even being that worried about Hull scoring. Dominated in the midfield and never allowed them to get close really. Thought our tactics of kicking it dead every time was spot on.
The number of Luke Dorn apologists in my block is hilarious

A few of Silverwood's decisions did appear to be little more than random guesses because he didn't really have a clue, which is always problematic for fans, but that's as much the fault of the touch judges for not paying attention or simply bottling it.
A telling moment for me in the first half was the touch judge spotting a blatant forward pass from Hull (he was stood right in front of where I sit), he started to lift his flag and then changed his mind, and all I could think was what a spineless cretin he was, he'd clearly seen it, but he'd bottled flagging it.

You've got to admit, he was very quick, he was just to quick, if he was running abit slower, he might of got it at the right time for that awkward bounce.

| Good all round team effort in such heavy conditions. We played it just right and Mac had the right game plan.
Got to give a big wrap to Karl T for a full 80 minute performance, he must have been dead by the end of that game. .
Only problem is like what others have said is our in field kicking game, we really have to get it between Wing and FB.
and again another great tackle towards the end from Clubb, he sure does like to hit them hard

| Regarding the field kicking there were a bunch of idiots behind me who kept whining everytime Chad or Danny deliberately kicked the ball dead to get a Hull restart on the 20. They were under the delusion that it was a bad kick, as opposed to a very good, deliberate tactic to make Hull play their way out of their own half on a night not suited to free running rugby.

I thought Silverwood (himself) had a decent game, I think most of the quesionable decisions were really the failure of the touch judges.
A really good Quins performance, especially the second-half, to grind out a deserved win.
Area I'd like to see improved - kicks from penalties. Quins most of the time seem to get about 15 metres. Other teams seem to get nearer 30.

| The kick from the base of the scrum by Purds for the try was a move that England used and scored from In Aus during the world cup, funy old thing, was Purds at the base of the scrum, if it had come off that would have been in line for try of the season and we are only what? a third in?
Kelvin! the linesman can only signal the ref, they cannot actually make the decision, the ref will look to the TJ for guidance and then make his own decision, he does not have to blow for a fwd pass even if the TJ signals it if he thinks it was not actually forward.
Field kicking from us was a bit poor, will be interestin g to hear the sky view on it when i watch again, as for kicking dead for the 20 mtr restart, happened far too often for it not to be a tactic, its something we used to do a couple of years ago, kick dead and set the defence at the 20. I did think the new ruling meant that the ref should have ensured the defence was set before the ball was played, and the quick restart from the 20 was only allowed from a kick diffused in goal

Then why not signal it? He saw it was clearly forward, he went to signal and then stopped. If the ref then over rules the touch judge despite having the lesser view of the pass, then we know the ref is a cheat, but as long as the touch judge turns a blind eye then it's he who is cheating.

| Great win, although not particularly entertaining it was just what was needed in the conditions and with the injuries weve got. A bit concerned by our halves kicking game, poor at best. Was always a worry with Orr and Dorn in the halves but i think we'll pay for it a few times this season. Randall can't kick from dummy half every set....or can he?!?
