Agree with your sentiments Micky....but 1,800 and another tonking make it hard for anyone to be positive.
Curry night seems to have attracted zilch.....the wakey win was more down to them being than us being good and after a 2 month break from ESL at home, do you think another curr offer will see any more than 2,500 at the stoop when Widnes come to town?

| If Witt wasn't fit to play don't pick him, he gave over the kicking duties during the previous match, and we had Dorn on the bench to cover, why? Who else is going in the direction of having a hooker and a full-back on the bench unless they are down to the bare-bones. Who else in SL spells their full-backs or stand-off apart from us.
Put 3 forwards and someone who can operate at dummy-half. Many teams are returning to the 80 mins hooker and a utility on the bench, our hookers look like they've both been through the ringer doing just 20 a half, so I can understand why they are there, but if you want Dorn in the 17 put him on the pitch or leave him in the stands outside the matchday squad as we can't afford luxuries with 10 interchanges. Don't know where RP and his coaching team that are dumber than a bag of hammers got the idea, but it just doesn't work.
Relatively easy fix; if we can convince the likes of Robertson, Gower, Rodney and Kaufusi to join the club, surely we can bring in a coach that befits the obvious quality of the onfield talent. You can either throw the Towel away or move him back to the U20s, U18s or to an asst role and decide whether he is worthy of any of those roles.

To be fair the curry sold out, the room ain't that big truth be told, and it did attract at least one new person. Realistically though nearly everyone there was, by definition, a Broncos fan so rather than attracting new fans it brought in extra money from existing fans. Frankly all money is welcome so no complaints but it was never likely to bring in lots of new fans.

Dorn would have been regarded as the utility player on the bench as he can play 1, 6 ,7, 9. Happens in the NRL a lot. It's a luxury.

| Our former coach Bill Goodwin always hated the term 'utility player', as in his playing days it just meant 'no bloody use anywhere'.

| Ah but the curry is all down to the "match day experience" which was mentioned in another thread
If you want more than 1800 in we need better curry and a band apparently! or maybe decent rugby on the green stuff might do it
Both blokes that have come on here and said they brought a couple of new faces down both mentioned the rugby! "match day experience" did not come in to it.
Think its quite funny a few folk complaining about getting to the game as well, apparently transport across London on a Thus night not good enough. Funny thing daft dad from Medway was there
We complain about poor connections at a weekend as well bet thats Powells fault as well!
The only way we are going to increase crowds! Start winning a game or two, and then back to the old thing of promote the game! The club dont seem to be able to get there heads around what the catchment area is and how to promote the game.
WE ARE NOT A TWICKENHAM TEAM we are London AND the SOUTH!!! The club need to get that in to there heads! Bracknel/Reading/Maidenhead/St Albans/Watford/Leathrhead/Croydon/Oxford/even as far out as Swindon, get some stuff in there local papers etc letting people know when RL is being played at the Stoop, or if there is a curry night with a bit of sport added.
We have a massive catchment area, with lots of fans who have an interest in RL but are not hardcore fans, so they look at scores and games etc but go "ooh did not realise London were playing" but then say to me ah thats a shame i would have come to that if i had known
Medway council seem to think its worth a punt

| You had to feel that no one knew the game was on - on Thursday. Why would they, why should they? We still have a good product but they won't come unless you sell it.

Love it. Great quote.
But I guess he didn't have the luxury of a Kurt Gidley or a Craig Wing for London back then.

| Bitterly disappointed with the lack of performance from the team. What is so frustrating is that we showed some real positive signs in our first game against Saints and I thought that considering it was the first game with 11 new blokes, it was a good effort and plenty to be optimistic about.
Sadly, the team don't look like a top 8 side at the moment and 10 games in, you would have to say that the prospects are bleak (and now injuries are kicking in too).
Brian Mac said it's hard for players to lift themselves to play in front of such small crowds but whilst you can understand that we don't have the intensity that you'd get at a derby game, it is the same for both teams and the oppo's never seem to have a problem winning here.
I liked the band in the bar and those I know that "curried" thought it was very good so that's about the only positive I can come up with (oh, and nice to see Dave get his first try.)

If you're Wests Tigers you can afford to have Beau Ryan on the bench and throw him on for 12 minutes, and use two hookers throughout the game. We are not Wests, nor close to any other NRL team, we need to be in games to have that sparky player to come on a break the game open, not turn to him when we are 30-6 down and then come on and grab the consolation try.
Another example of the Towel's delusion of grandeur. Good players don't make a good coach.

If enough interest is shown I will create it, unless someone gets there first.
Maybe we could all where one on our heads at the next home game. Tea towels would be best.

| Rugby League is the greatest sport i have seen live when 2 competitive teams take to the field. when you get blow outs, i find it a tiresome chore unless your team giving out the drubbing which dont often happen for Bronocs. Thursday night became chore in my opinion after first 10 mins of 2nd half. in fairness you always felt Dragons had so much more in their locker even during the first half and felt we were merely hanging on to their shirt tails.
the home games up to Thursday that we had lost we have always been in and about till last 10 mins or so, so for the most part competitive. although i always felt we were never going to get the better of them, saints, giants so not massive shame although these teams didnt play well at stoop. away games we are being destroyed which is disastrous and an embarassment. every team must think we are a 2 point banker when we come to town, their fans probably stay away as they know it wont even be a match..
i myself am a season ticket holder. brought a friend along who was casual supporter. he enjoyed the match, loved the way catalan played and asked why Broncos dont apply the same pressure, why dont they pass as Dragons do, or even attempt to play more attractive rugby.. hmmmmmmm, lack of confidence in what they are doing / being told to do has to be main thing IMO. you can see there are individually good attacking players there, but they are not being gelled into a unit and dont believe they practice defense if we letting so many points in week in week out, wildcats the exemption. on attack we need more set plays to confuse opposition defences... and why do we rarely offload, when we do get chance no one is there to accept it, so that must be down to game plan they are being told to employ and that comes from coaching staff. sticking it up your jumper will not win games.
im not one to shout for peoples heads, but Mr Powell as manager comes across in interviews as very dour, never shows emotions when doing well or bad. not being funny, how can he motivate anyone. as manager he needs to smarten up in appearance (unshaven, scruffy is not acceptable as ambassador for club) and smarten up our play. cant play the same play so many times, variation, kicks, dummy runners etc.. and motivate players.
hopefully win over Dewsbury might get some confidence back and see where that leads us, although thats not a given. taking another friend advising guaranteed win, uh oh !!!!! if we lose to Dewsbury, no disrespect to the Rams, then people should be looking for another vocation sooner rather than later.
all so disappointing after the furore of players we signed and the rebranding and things turning out worse than last year and i thought we would not get any lower...
i see mention of kit manufacturers, what kit manufacturer is going to want to make our kit, be no money in it as so few kits probably sold, hence MKK bespoke kit manufacturer probably the solution, even though they probably got in the door as CEO cricket buddies i hazard a guess. i think stuff produced is of a good standard although sizes seem a bit curve balled when purchasing replica kit. they did say at beginning of season they would not be over stocking, which does make sense when you consider all the puma stuff they had left. i would love ISC to make our kit, not going to happen is it.
well lets get monday over with and get some respect back and then hopefully look forward to a good cup run

It was planned for this to happen when SL started but IIRC one club (Wigan I think) refused to take part in it so the idea fell away.
