Last season in the first couple of months we did play some expansive rugby and won plenty of games. For some reason and it was against Hull or Wakey at home he change the way we played and introduced a 5 drives and kick it dead through the in goal. I suspect he was saying if you want to score you must come 80 metres.



What it did to the team was remove the ability to move the ball around and we fell apart. Towards the end of the season when we were desperate, after recognising conservative rugby was failing he reintroduced throwing the ball around this time with gay abandon and it went terribly wrong-The tanker couldn't be turned.



If you look at Saints and Leeds stats they make more handling errors that any other clubs but in negative % terms its not that great because they move the ball a lot and therefore great lots of chances.



Nathan Brown and McGuire at Wigan have tightened both their defences up without major staff changes but what they have also done is kept/improved attacking options. Mac seems to want to build around defence whilst forgetting we need to score-If any team gets 20 points against us they win-simple. We are not comfortable with ball in hand- Just look at the tries we have scored

I think it was a case of playing the conditions that day. It was Hull and I thought he got the tactics spot on that day....problem was, he thought he had found the new masterplan and everything else was forgotten.

As for Sykes kicking out on the full........I would suggest that better coaching would be the answer....not giving up yards.
