| Here's an amazing thought...
Perhaps Mr Evans doesnt want to make QRL an RU club - Why have two near identical products competing for the same market?
Perhaps he will want to emphasise the distinctiveness and go looking for new audiences in those bits of west london where the estate agents don't drive BMWs

| Our family played union for years. We won tickets to watch RL in the first season of super league, came along and watched a game and were totally and utterly hooked on League. We have season tickets for league but now only go to the occassional union game. I appreciate both codes, each has it's merits. Each is important to their fan. My preference is League and I expect to be respected for freedom of choice but we should also welcome new members and let them see the 'error of their ways' (only joking) we have a great product and if we can spread the word then we should be doing so. Does it matter who is in charge, what their bacground is, where they come from as long as they carry out their work in a professional manner and build our club.

| baffled by the age old bigotry and attitudes emanating from some on here; some of whom aren't even old enough to remember the days of shamateurism.
RU is a sport - like any other, has its pros and cons and its history. I personally think it's losing its way as a spectacle at the moment with the ELV's, but it's still great to watch. It's just not as good as league IMO.
But this is 2009. Come on; who even remembers who threw the first punch. Just because some RU fans are xenophobic (look it up Lister) to us, does that mean we retaliate in return. Let's be bigger than that. I repeat, this is 2009, hell I hear some people even marry interracially in this day and age! Whowouldathoughtit....

I watch both games and as I can understand the rules of both, as well as the tactics used, I can enjoy both.
I freely admit that Union is becoming very very very tedious at the moment and their constant tinkering with the rules is making the game a kickathon, but I will still watch and appreciate some of the finer things about it.'"
Wow! you can? Union offside and rucking rules? I'm impressed indeed (no sarcasm intended).
tbf there is a lot to enjoy in an attacking flowing game of Union, pity is it doesnt happen too often

I think in all honesty my knowledge of what happened to rugby league in France to the benefit of rugby union informs alot of my judgement when it comes to RU.
Well, that and the fact its dull.

I can actually emjoy watching the All Blacks who play a passing game. Its when they start kicking back and forwards without getting any real advantage that I start to fall asleep. Each to their own i guess.

The rules are quite simple really. It's just that those players who are considered brilliant (richie Mcaw(sic)) manage to play right on the edge and sometimes over it and that makes the rules look confusing.

| Great move if true.. let us all take the blinkers off and stop hating another code/sport because of history. In this day and age people will obviously still hold grudges and have reservations, thats understandable, however Quins RU have gone from 1st division to play-off positions in 1/2 years under Mark Evans. Admittedly the team is run by a different and very well disciplined respected man - Dean Richards...who is a mirror image of a certain Brian Mc.
I think this has the potential to rocket us forward, with "one club" running two codes...they are not competing with eachother, there can be "one structure" in place so both teams can work to meet targets, train together, gain advice/experience from eachother... Oh and its clearly better than us worrying about Ian L leaving and us being broke.
I guess I'm one of those rare breeds of rugby fan, I can enjoy and understand the strengths and weaknesses in both codes. I'm sure we'll get the very anti on both sides - those on this board and RL in general who can't stand the thought of us having a nice stadium, future stability and a more than strong financial base to keep us in Superleague past the 3 year licence renewal period. With also those Quins RU fans that I must admit can be very blinkered and closed to the thought of a league outfit even being allowed to warm up on the Stoop pitch!
Lets rid ourselves of this boring hatred for Union and I'd say the exact same to them....League should be given every chance and is an awesome sport itself.
Anyway, enough rambling....I hope this comes to fruition and Quins Rugby can be a great success in both codes/tournaments.
OPEN YOUR EYES AND LIFE CAN BE FUN!!

So because Penguin doesn't like Union, their fans won't bother coming to watch RL? Have a laugh.
I can also understand the rules of both as well as the tactics used, I have even played Rugby Union, but I cannot enjoy Rugby Union as a sport and I cannot enjoy the RFU. Tough. Get over it and stop bleating about how we should all be sympathetic towards RU and get into it. I'm not going to go and speak to staunch RU supporters and tell them how their sport is sh*t and they should start watching RL, its their opinion, they are welcome to their crummy, inferior sport, and its highly unlikely they will ever change their mind. And neither will I.
Rugby Union can collapse and disappear for ever for all I care. Heres to hoping!

| Is this the same announcement that David Hughes hinted at at the season launch. He said then " in a few weeks..........."
During the Spanish Civil war in the 1930s the republicans had a song with the line -
" one day soon all Spain will be a republic".
They are still waiting............

| Great news - seems to have all the right credentials. I wonder what the HKR fans think, why did he leave them?
You would think that the club could spell Surrey on its website though!

Just out of interest, where do you think the majority of London based Academy & younger Reserve players learnt to play rugby?
At least 3 of the current fringe first team squad are ex-union players - do they disgust you?

| As far as I'm concerned they could have appointed Clive Woodward provided he did a good job for us. I get more than a little cheesed off with this bizarre inferiority complex that a number of League supporters have about RU, which (it might pain them to realise) isn't bothered one way or the other about us.
