How poor was the number 5 last night. That bloke couldn't catch a cold. Thank christ he went of with a bad leg. It makes you wonder just how players like him and Atkins even get considered to play at this level when they dont have the basic natural ability to comfortably catch a ball. I wont even touch on No5's defence.

I guessed. People use it as a reason/excuse for losing sometimes. Invariably it's simply a load of old and as wire quin once pointed out more to do with the amount of D we have to endure. Whether that be through our own silly mistakes, penalties, cheap turnovers, or being simply outweighed, outmuscled or outclassed.

He didnt play Solomona if Im not mistaken. He came on as a replacement for 5. (or at this stage had I given up and was hoping)

Duckworth, what can you say ..... it comes to something when you think O'C would be a better option.

Bottom line, its a championship standard side making school boy errors in the big boys league. Errors at critical times, two McMeeken knock ons to gimme passes stick in my mind, the first leading to a Cats try and the second relieving Cats of some serious pressure. We played blindside moves 3 or 4 times and were forced into touch, so frustrating. We were totally disorganised throughout and Drinkwater and Farrar laid down no structure, I recall Vea being forced to kick on the 6th at one point .... then again it was a better kick than Drinky produced all night. Duckworth letting the ball bounce, being forced in goal, knocking on and unforgiveably allowing the winger to score when he should have been sent to row C of the stand. Three other tries were a joke, one where the defence parted and no one laid a finger on the bloke, one from dummy half on the line and another from (yet another) cross field chip.

On the positives, MCB is growing in stature by the week.

Drinkwater and Farrar seem to be low on ideas and quality. There was some quite dismal passing at times.

Is there a way back for Bishay?
How far off is Dixon?

Solomona definitely started in the centres and looked pretty decent, certainly got the size to play there. Drinkwater I thought was fairly decent, Farrar didn't offer anything though.

Looks as if Bishay didn't play for Skolars yesterday so maybe he'll play on Monday fresh

Dixon is end of June, beginning of July.

Yes. Interesting high ball catching technique - arms extended. Not seen that since first form.

If he can score 20 odd times for our shower of s@#$e last season, he can be as poor as he wants in defence.

The return of Dixon will be a massive boost to the team. Whatever his defensive failings maybe they are far outweighed by his ability to score tries and entertain.
The return of a young player from serious injury is cause to celebrate.
To wallow in abject negativity all the time is quite pathetic.

They are all a liability in defence! The tackling technique is pathetic. Seems to consist of flapping your arms at the opponents chest and hoping it stops them.

Dixon would be a huge improvement on all our potential wingers apart from Solomona. Minns looked pretty solid there on Thurs but no real attacking threat.

As I said earlier a back 3 of Mataitonga, Solomona and Dixon would be good in my eyes. Just got to get them the ball!

Apols for the lateness of the post, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Hive Thurs.

Whilst some may snootily point to the number of fans you have, I prefer to be positive and focus on the passion and atmosphere created.
