Halifax are apparently looking at signing Joe Keyes, who's out of contract at Bradford. He's definitely a player I'd like to see back in a Broncos shirt.

Especially as we could be a bit lacking in the HB dept.

The fact that Halifax are rumoured to be sniffing round doesn't make Joe Keyes any more desirable in my eyes. He had his moments for us, which were few and far between, in fact, a better version of Oscar T. Great lad, but no thanks, we should be looking higher up the food chain.

As I understand it most of Saturdays team have not been spoken to by club and are already well into negotiations with other clubs. Eddie Battye has not signed. A huge effort from players v Toulouse considering they know that they are moving on next season.

A couple of months back you posted that the players had all been told they could leave. It then emerged that RFL rules state all clubs have to inform out of contract players when the date for open negotiations begins. Since then a few of those players have been announced as re-signing.

Well, we've spent the season playing with one half back, Sammut. Api is regularly injured, and often plays at centre anyway. Meadows isn't ready for this level of rugby, and is behind where Keyes was at the same age. Cunningham fills in very well at 7 but it weakens us at hooker. So we badly need another half.

As for Keyes, you're thinking about the player he was when much younger. It's difficult for any Londoner to come through at this level, even more so for a half back. He's a little older, certainly more experienced, and been working under an excellent coach at Bradford. Richard Marshall seems like a hell of a good coach as well, so if Fax are interested I'd be taking a look myself.

I thought Battye had resigned??? And in the announcement for Davis leaving it was mentioned the club offered him a new deal.

With a potential £500,000 + short fall in the budget for next season is it any surprise that there maybe delays in awarding new contracts?

What a bizarre speculative / uninformed thread. Players signing 2 / 3 year contracts = the club wont exist next year. Other players sign in due course, others move on, new players come in, its the world of professional sports teams.

Its not a case of not existing, more a case of what will the state of the squad be!!!. We might have a shortfall but if we are putting a squad together on the cheap, there goes any chance of promotion (out of interest, does anyone know when they are going to announce the details re promotion next season. I know its one up/down, but how do we decide the one up?? Is it straight, league winner or will there be a play off between top 2/4 in the championship).

I know Hughes is supposed to be pulling back his funding but that just leaves the club even further behind on the field.

Don’t think anyone has suggested the club will not exist next year, not on this thread anyhow. They funding next year could be less if we don’t make the top 4 which could be influencing contract negotiations.
As for promotion demotion, 1 up 1 down, not sure that has actually been ratified by the RFL yet has it? So who knows what will happen.
But let’s be honest currently with the funding we have, london broncos are a championship club, not super league.
If we are to get SL status again we need to have a big financial inject and go from there. Tbh I cannot see that coming anytime soon.

I thought it was common knowledge that Hughes was cutting back and the club were trying to be more self sustainable (in as much as it can). I didn't say he was cutting all ties, just that we were trying to not rely as much on him.

With an average crowd of around the 800 mark (apparently) the club is nowhere near being able to stand on its own merits, certainly not full time
