Agreed. We have 8 games left until the play-offs start and I believe we will win 6 of them (at least 4) which will get us into the play-offs.

| Quote ="gutterfax"Huddersfield at Home: Can't see us beating them. Twice this year they have controlled the game from the forwards and then used the ball efficiently in the backs.......Only way we can get the points here is if Hudds have a mare
Nil Points
White flag waving surrender Monkeys away. This will be a high scoring game and as usual, close. We need to get on top quick and shut the crowd up, but I think the 2 points will be ours.
St Helens at home.
Nil Points
Bulls away: The next 2 are season defining games IMO. 4 points from this and we will make the 8.....but even 1 loss and it will be a real battle to stay in touch. The seem to be getting a bot of confidence back, but losing to Cas in a 78 point thriller might just work against them. Alas, they will have played Celtic the week before us and unless the welsh can do the double over them, they will be on their uppers.
Bulls at home. See above. 4 points
Salford at Home. We should have too much for them, but after beating Saints, they will be looking for consistancy. They have fixtures against teams they will think they can beat in the run up to the game at TW2, but if they only get 2 points from the possible 10, then their season will be over and they will be there for the taking. 2 points
FC away. Like Salford, the result of this one will be determined in some way to their results running up to this. I can see them only getting 2 points from 12 before this one and therefore, their season will be over and we should have too much for them. 2 points
Castleford at TW2: Tough one to call as I believe they will still be in the mix for the play offs and this game may well the tie of the round (ie...on SLYTV). I think we will need to win 1 of our last 2 to be sure of a home tie in the play-offs and that will be enough for us. 2 points
Wire away: Sad to say, I can see a certain amount of revenge being dished out to us in this. They are a diferent team to the one we hammered earlier in the season and will have too much all over the park for us. Nil Points
So there you have. Gutters Guide to the run in. 12 points from the 18 0n offer leaving us in either 5th or 6th place with a home play off game against either Wakey or Castleford IMO.'"
Oh dear.........we are in trouble now. We will get nothing from Saints and looking at the other fixtures, I can see us dropping out of the 8, possibly as low as 10th place.
As I said above, Bradford home and away will decide if we make the 8 at all now. If we have some walking wounded, I would throw the kids in against Saints and try to have a fit squad when we face the Bulls. Points difference, whilst important, is worth taking a hit on if we can get 4 points from these 2 games.

| In spite of another defeat and if Brain Mc doesn't experiment again with playing people out of position, I feel more optimistic this week about our staying in the 8. If we can get a few more bodies back for Bradford and the mistakes can be reduced I think (hope) we can still do it.

| Quote ="Dave Lister"What makes you feel more optimistic?'" Maybe a few of the following -
Level of commitment, few of the young 'uns getting a game (they might be needed again before the season ends and at least have an idea of what to expect) , got to be a few returnees soon (at least the expectant fathers). Optimism isn't not a feeling I'm often given to (God's sake West Ham are my football team!) but a decent show against an injury affected Saints and 4 points from the Bradford games could give us the shot in the arm we need for the last few weeks.

| On, closer inspection of the run in for those teams I believe are in with the best shout, the French have the easiest run in and should finish 5th. Then it's a foot race between Wire, Castleford, Wakey, us and the goons. No disrespect to Bradford or Hull, I just can't see them getting the run of results they need. Looking at the run ins, if we can get the wounded back and fully fit, then I think we still stand a chance of nicking 6th spot and believe that the Wire game will be a straight play-off for home advantage. So, I may well be looking at flights to Perpignan on the weekend of the 18/19/20 september.
Bristol to Perp, leave Friday, back monday, £10 including taxes
Stanstead perp, same dates £63 all in.......

Looked a lot more committed than in the first half against Wigan, can't speak for Hudds game.
Maybe the youngsters haven't shown they are up to SL thus far but surely they will have learnt more in one first team game than 6 months in the reserves . To be honest I think you might be harsh on Gale and O'Callaghan who i think show signs of promise. The problem with us is the se guys don't get the chance of a run out from the bench when things are going well, they have to be chucked in at the deep end when we have our usual injury crisis. I'm sure someone will prove me wrong but didn't the likes of LMS, TC , Will Sharp, Lamont Bryan and O'Callaghan all make their debuts in these circumstances ie when key players were missing? Perhaps you didn't rate LMS or TC at first but they've become 1st team fixtures and Englnad internationals?
As I said, I'm finding it strange not usually being given to optimism but with the injury list showing most first choice guys should be fit in 1-2 weeks time and some of the young 'uns being blooded, Howell's suspension up in a week as well I'm feeling more optimistic than I would have thought given we've just lost 5 on the spin.

Okay......the season now gets serious. We need nothing less than 6 points from the next 3 games or we can kiss any hopes of the play-offs goodbye. Bradford aren't as bad as their position in the league and have lost a few games by the odd try, so the lads need to be fully focused on this........and Salford are no mugs either. Anything less than 3 wins and that's the season over and done with.

| Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but on the Quins site, when McDermott was asked if he was confident about making the play-offs, he answered
"100%"
Again, not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not.

We will have a full squad to pick from apart from Purdham and Clubby (who would have been on the bench IMO).
In the forwards, Bradford a a shadow of their former selves and we should be able to handle them. In the backs, we are far superior if we do the basic right and stop trying to play harlem globtrotter type stuff.
I predict a 20 point win this week and a 10 point win at the stoop the following week.

It says something when Bradford are happy to have avoided being "doubled" by the cellar dwellars
As much as I think your squad is stronger than it's current position, your team seem to have trouble turning up to games. It may well be that beating the welsh has given them a shot in the arm, but I would expect Quins to have too much for you.

Oh dear.........2 points dropped. We now need 3 wins minimum and our home form seems to be non existant.
Salford is now everything. Lose and that's it, but win, carry some form up to the KC and who knows?
Castleford (if we can manage 4 points prior to their visit) have 2 tough games prior to visiting us and if they don't get any points from Leeds or Wigan, I can see this being on SLY TV as it will be a play-off decider.
Wire? Let's hope we don't have to win to be sure of a play-off place. Keeping the faith, but the players have to step up now. We have 3, possibly 4 cup finals over the next 4 weeks!
