But it's fairly obvious Hughes can't come out and state publicly anything other than what he has. Some positive signings, all done in good time and keeping the club full-time would suggest he's at least going to give it a chance, which is more than anyone else out there, with the required fincancial muscle is prepared to do!

I would expect us to hammer both these teams, so the answer is no, I'd much rather wins against SL oppostion rather than processions against part-timers and amateurs.

The thought process that "at least we might see a win" now we are in the 2nd division is an odd one. I would much rather we were still in the top tier myself. As for Franchising/Licencing.......it didn't work because as usual with the RFL, they gave it 4 years before starting to plan for change.....I suspect if the million pound game is an utter hammmering for the championship contender, this new system will get even less time.

Please list the people on here who wouldn't want that to be the case? Given your constant posturing I expect it should be a lengthy list.

I answered a question put to me and gave a raison d'être as to why I gave my answer. I have no doubt that the vast majority of fans of the club would prefer us to be in SL, but it is not to them I am addressing my response. It is to Michael B 1234, who is most assuredly one of those who is delighted with his weekly emails and twitter alerts, a shirt launch in a public park and bluster from a failing owner and an untested coach.

This thread is about what David Hughes has said he believes will happen.

I would point out that pretty much everything he has claimed to have desired for the club hasn't happened....in fact, I'd go as far as to say that in most cases, the exact opposite has happened. He claimed "victory" at the last game of 2008 (could have been 2007) in his "dealings" with the RFL and that we would be given marketing assistance. He then ignored every suggestion made by the guy the RFL sent down......he claimed we had crap crowds because people though Harlequins RL was Harlequins Rugby Lessons......then bought as a new website, Londonbroncos RL.....

He looked at his 2 mill+ a year spend and decided that the 225k we were paying the stoop was the problem. The reality was that we were paying 750,000 in admin costs......excluding any marketing wages or spend.....so AFAIK that was Gus, his PA and a couple of other backroom staff. It didn't include any team costs.....THREE QUARTERS OF A MILLION POUNDS


So he has moved us to another new ground where we give the takings...all of them.....to the landlord and in return we now have some office space, gymnasium, training pitch and main stadium access. All costs associated with the team and the club are met by the SKY money (which will drop considerably next year) and from Hughes. We are spending to the cap, so Hughes is already 200k down before he's booked a coach, hotel, paid insurance, booked a flight, paid a non-playing salary, a coach, an academy player......and whilst negotiations around 2015's ticket prices have apparently been sorted, 2016 onwards is still under discussion.

So yep.....Hughes and Joey G will of course claim we will return to SL at the first time of asking and say all the right things. It doesn't mean I or anyone else has to accept it and it certainly doesn't mean I can't comment on it.

Gotnofax, not sure if you have missed it, despite what you wish we are no longer in super league so we are not going to be playing them week in week out its happened live with it, it's sport it happens nothing can be done to change it this year.

50 Minutes by car or over an hour by public transport from the Hive, absolutely 0 chance of attracting 1 fan to a game and held in front of puzzled tourists and the RL press. The "good reports" were from a handful of RL aficionados who happily watch RL at any level.....was there a DPS in Metro? Was the event covered by even the local paper? We've been down this route before Michael.....new stadium, so no need to market to our neighbours as they'll already know we are here.......it's a David Hughes signature move. Do I need to draw you a diagram as to how that's worked for us in the past? Only ground where we ever leaflet dropped the neighbours was the only ground we left with MORE fans than when we arrived......
I'd have had it locally......at a school visit to present the school with 2k's worth of sports equipment....nothing like a bit of good news to get you noticed by the local rag.
We play at the Hive........why launch anything 14 miles away in a city that didn't care about us in SL.....????

Great, and no problem with that. Pity you can't outline what replaces David Hughes. You might hate him but if he walked away tomorrow, will you be dancing on the club's grave, will you be funding the solution, or just spouting I told you so.

The solution is no longer available, because whilst you had a chance of flogging London v Wigan to the public, London v Whitehaven is of no interest to anyone other than the 700 or so that will show up......and in being generous with that figure.
When the rfl revert to one up/one down, Hughes will buy us back into sl, but i suspect with a core of maybe 400 hard core fans left, we will be straight back down........hughes leaving us now is preferable to the long slow death he is inflicting on the club.
I did tell you and everyone else so.......13 years ago and I was spot on. I take no pleasure in it, but I wont have it held against me either.

And the point about what do we do without Hughes? He's made sure that we are 100% reliant on him now......in 2008 we had something going for us.....attached to a popular brand and playing to 4k......isnt it great what 15 million buys you?

Without Hughes the club would learn to live within its means and be forced to generate its own revenue.......with him too many people are happy to take a wage with no consequence for failure......hows that panned out of late?

Micky, the fact we are not in SL has relatively little to with "sport" and rather a lot to do with inept management.

The club and its chairman/owner have gone on record.
Am I not allowed to question their claims?
Should I sit by and watch the club make the same mistakes again?
Should we not consider the past record of those who make decisions?

You can sit there and swallow all the bull you like, but Hughes has form here. Why should I, a customer and supporter be prevented from questioning the Chairman's ability to get things done properly?

2015 season....5 weeks away and to date we have had no shirts to buy, no ticketing information, no fans forum

....nothing......other than twitter and facebook feeds with a few emails thrown in. Nothing has changed.....other than the division we play in. We've had a pre-season....but we had one of those every other year until last years "wobble".....we have a team of journeymen (1 retired player who was mining in Western Aussie......good mate of the coach though) a coach who is unproven (but at least is a straight talker) and we are even more reliant on 1 man for our finance than we have ever been before.

I get it.....the few hard core that are left are looking forward to 2nd tier RL and are in a positive mood, but the reality is the MAJORITY of our fans are gone....and gone for good.

The trouble is, who are you questioning ? No one on here has the answers so if the above are your stated aims, then you are wasting your time on here. You need to contact the club or better still David Hughes himself.
