Don't be coy, I seem to recall it was 8,000 wasn't it?
I'm with you Rupe, I too long for the day when this club can go back to the glory Bronco days when we had Mitchell Stringer and Andy Brocklehurst as starting forwards. Ah yes, the glamour...

| Whilst I do agree with rupe on some things, PTB is right. If Quins had won 4 on the bounce this post wouldn't have even happened. The fact we're in a bit of a free fall isn't because we're playing under the Quins name. I've watched the Broncos lose 4,5,6 heck we had one season we finished second bottom. It's just we've lost Chad and Purdo- if you took away Sinfield and Senior from Leeds they'd be half the team they are.

| Quote ="rupe1"Haven't posted on here for a while and many on here am sure are very happy about that. I hated the way London Broncos turned from an exciting club into the disgustingly named Harlequins and became a ploddingly dull outfit with less characters and excitement than even the likes of Wakefield.
I no longer wish to watch a club I dont feel part of. I am not a disloyal person - I have watched Watford for 25 years through mostly thin but that is because that club has an identity and I feel part of it. We need to go back to London Broncos, get rid of the filthy Union shirt, sign some really exciting players instead of nothings like Williamson et al and get some excitment back.
Abuse me all you like, but I represent the thousands of people who used to go and have no interest in going anymore but could and want to come back.'"
seriously? 'thousands'? come on. Our crowds are down what? 500? I have some sympathy with your views, but the chances are you're a soccer fan first not an RL fan so it was easy for you to walk away and you justify it to yourself with all the bs above.

| Quote ="Dave Lister"You are ignorant as to the situation the club is in. You are pathetic - it is still a professional rugby league side who represent the South of England in a national sport. You consider yourself loyal
We can all tell you have a problem because of your archaic attitude where a rugby league club should never associate with rugby union, which is quite frankly laughable.
I love it "sign some really exciting players"
How old are you, 5? With the intelligence of a sheep? Its that easy it is, just "sign some exciting players"? Who would you suggest then? Bear in mind the quota rules have completely changed since we were London Broncos.
And for the record, your cluelessness is further highlighted by your bagging of Williamson who IMO is shaping up to be a player as good as Steele Retchless, one of your precious "characters" I imagine.'"
Dave, whether you agree with the post or not is not the issue here. I like you do not agree with much of what was said but surely the purpose of this forum is a place where people can come and share their opinions without being subjected to personal abuse simply because they hold a different view
If the fans cannot have their view without abuse if it does not tow the party line then this forum is rendered useless
Disagree with somebodys opinion but do they really have to be described as pathetic ?
Everyone is entitled to an oponion even if perish the thought it differs from yours
At the end of the day there are problems and whether the shirt or the name are the ones worth bothering about (I do not think they are) we have to allow people to hold an opinion don't we ?

| I never saw the Broncos, I've only ever cheered for Harlequins. Not because I was drawn by the Union connection - though I played Union as a kid, I've only seen QRU once. I just tried it and liked it. I have also read The Forbidden Game, but I don't think our relations with the Union club should be coloured by the actions of a group of people who are all now dead.
Incidentally, I tend to agree that we play duller, safety-first football than we did in the last two seasons and we haven't had any rousing come-from-behind home victories this season either, but then we don't have creative game-breakers like Scott Hill and Mark McLinden. And we're pretty skint. Still, I don't understand how anyone who's watched Watford for 20 years can find any other game boring.

That's a fair point. Again there are problems at the club but the playing perforance is the least of the problems. There is lots of encouraging things to take out of the side from what I can see and there is without doubt progress being made. Any expectation that Quins are suddenly going to be SL challengers is way off the mark (despite what the coach may have said)
The off field issues are miles bigger and would NOT in my opinion simply be solved by a winning team, helped yes but nothing like solved
Things are a million miles away from being where they need to be off the field
To give an example, albeit a small one. I wrote to the club twice for clarification of the policy on booking tickets through the web. Neither was ever answered. OK, I could have called to follow it up but why should I, the onus is on the club to communicate with people who take time to ask for information........twice
A small example but you cannot treat customers like that, especially when the numbers are nowhere near where they need to be

Although the club do not always get it right, I would just like to counter that last statement CB. During this week some complications arose with regard to tickets required by our group as a result of the Catalan debacle, rather than write a long winded email I called the club, got straight through and the issue was resolved in 5 minutes and arrangements for tickets agreed. We all encounter issues from time to time, but I have to say that my experience of dealing with the club is normally good and I have always found them helpful........if you have an issue that needs be resolved pick up the phone..... `It`s good to talk`(taken from an old BT add for those too young to remember )

| Would agree with under the sticks.
I went to Catalan and also wanted to arrange my "compensation" tickests for 4 Nations, challenge cup etc. It was complicated because i had arranged foe a geroup of us, 5 in total, 2 from North and 3 from London, Petra at the club could not have been more helpful.
I loved the Broncos, i loved that glorious start to the season with Luealuia, Dorn (remember Mr Lister), McLinden et al but forget the name/shirt the Stoop is a fantastic rugby ground. If we can build our crowds to 5000+ it will be an amazing experience and completely different from the KC, Halliwell and all those football stadiums
This forum is getting depressing. Yes we have lost 5 on the trot, though should have been 4, we have lots of injuries and we have a small squad. But this is a team i support, i support them win or lose. I can crticise them but i still support them, no team wins every game - lets get behind them.
Better Quins than no RL, i still believe.

Without the opinions there would be no forum. Listy and Rupe-y, although different add the other side of the coin which provokes debate.
Interestingly even Listy didnt agree with Rupe. Does that mean we have a 3 sided coin!!

come in 56....your time is up!
I fail to see, apart from the name of the club and the association ith the dark side what rupes problem is. Rusty was good crack, a go forward player and Liked a few VB's post match in stripes. LMS is a laugh, a go forward player and an England international and likes a drink after the game and a natter. Is it because LMS is English and doesn't drink VB that is the problem? Dennis Moran was always up for a chat after the games at GP.....but so is Danny Orr?
Could Rupe be anti-english?

Williamson is getting better as the season goes on, but imo isn't anywhere near Steele's performances for us.

| The player who is going to take over Retchless's mantle is Robinson. Im always happy when both of them are out there though.
However, we need someone to score the tries as well and that is our current problem with Randall, Howell, Purdo and Dorn especially out

Also good to see that there are times when clubs get it right as well. I am absolutely sure that there are a minority of times when it gets it wrong and if you are minded to pick up the phone then fine.
It fundementally does change the pointg that if you have a feedback form on the website and say you will respond then you should do exactly that

But maybe for one reason or another there isn't the motivation and dedication to go, it can't be because I dont like the team, rugby league etc because I still watch a lot of it on the box. It's just not the same atmosphere etc imo

| I can understand where these people are coming from.
After all the years of abuse and bigotry by the Rugby Football Union, we go crawling to them for help and take on their name and colours. It was a dark day when it happened in my (and a few others) eyes.
I can't see many benefits on gameday of being Quins rather then the Broncos. For example:
* Griffin Park was a typical Rugby League stadium with its terracing and closeness to the pitch whereas playing in a relatively big ground quite a distance from the pitch is a huge atmosphere drainer.
* Griffin Park had a pub on each corner of the ground whereas you have to make a good 10-15 minute walk to a pub - called the William Webb Ellis, a RU pub.
* We had our own identity unlike now where we use someone elses. If you ask many Londoners they will say Harlequins is a RU team and not have a clue that there is also a RL team. The London Broncos didn't have a decent marketing team and thats why they struggled.
I've always been a believer that the best stadium I've seen RL played in London is Loftus Rd aka Queens Park Rangers home ground. Yes, the seats are a little uncomfortable and cramped but its a tidy ground, close to the pitch and now has the benefit of having the Westfield Centre nearby so the Wife & Daughter could go for a shop while Father & Son watch there team at QPR.
But I don't want to get into all this arguing, this is just my opinion, have a go at me if you must.
I love RL and am glad we have RL in London.
