Quote ="alanw"I cant read French and cant seem to find a translator on my computer. But in that same article in the link it mentions another player called Mark Taufua. Now until someone can translate it for us, I will sound like an idiot (
),but is it possible that he has signed for us well.
He is a big prop from Cronulla as well, who once had the nickname of the" The Samoan stealth bomber ". Only other thing I have find is that he also retried at the end of last season. so until someone can work it out maybe I have it wrong and that's what the link is saying that's he retired and not coming to us.'"
Well he's certainly a good experienced prop who would do a good job for us on the face of it if he really wants to come.
As you say though he has retired though seemingly nothing to do with injuries. If he's a Samoan does that mean we don't have a visa problem?

| This is my poor french translation:
"Half French international Avignon (eg Catalans Dragons club for which he played 25 games in 2010 and 2011, and Cronulla Sharks in 2013), Tony Gigot, 23, and Samoan international prop Cronulla, Mark Taufua , 32, 88 NRL games under the colors of Newcastle and Sharks between 2007 and 2013, will be developed with the London Broncos, who are still looking to expand their squad for the whole hour inexperienced contacts."
Hope the Taufua news is true

| Demi in this case means either scrum half or stand off (demi de melee or demi d'ouvre). Otherwise a fair stab at translating.

| Quote ="Erogenous Jones"Not the reason he left. Odd how you could chat to him in English and that a basic command of the language was one of the conditions of him being able to spend time with Quins. As you're not Phil Jones, Tony Gigot, Jeff Jouffret or the other person who set up his time with Quins then you can only speculate.
'"
I certainly remember it being said on these boards that that was the reason. Iv'e never met him myself. I saw him then as a decent prospect and was disappoited when he left. As he's French he's more likely to settle better in London for various reasons than up north. Im hoping we can get the best out of him and with Longy to teach him there is no one better The lad has plenty of experience now so you have to be optimistic/ Maybe Jimmy the Cuckoo cane enlighten us more

Don't believe everything you read on these boards. There were 4 people (3 named above as they were/are employed in RL, the other acted as a go between but is not employed by any RL club so remains anonymous) involved in setting up his time at Quins and a basic knowledge of English was one of the conditions (after the experience with a previous French player). The reason he was let go is similar to what the then coach at the club said when offered Julien Rinaldi as a player.

| OK, I think we have a starting team and some options now:
1 Nesiasi Mataitonga - FB
2 Kieran Dixon – WG Saeed Agboke, James Duckworth
3 Will Lovell – CE Thomas Minns, Mason Caton-Brown
4 Jordan Atkins – CE Illiess Macani, Joel Wicks, Sean Morris
5 Denny Solomona – WG Harvey Burnett
6 Tony Gigot – SO James Woodburn-Hall
7 Mike Bishay – SH
8 George Griffin – PR Olsi Krasniki, James Greenwood
9 Scott Moore – HK James Cunningham
10 Nick Slyney – PR Erjon Dollapi
11 Mike McMeeken – SR Toby Everett
12 Matt Cook (c) - SR
13 Alex Foster – LF Jonathan Wallace
Don't think we can judge how well they can play together until week 4-8. Can only try and cheer them on, they have a steep learning curve!

you and I are going to look very silly if the Broncos start winning in front of 5,000 fans and Vodafone enquire about naming rights in a new 5 year deal starting in 2015 at 7 figures a year........but I suspect you'd get better odds on a unicorn winning this years Grand National

Steep learning curve is about right.
I genuinely felt optimistic when we started the season with signings like Gower, Robertson, Rodney, Kafusi and had SL standard players like Colbon, Cook et al to replace not-quites like Olsi and Jamie O'C. Even kidded myself that 'names' Mark Calderwood and Karl Pryce might show something like form when they were down here.
Struggling to get excited about this team though. Given Salford's on-paper improvement (teams with Adrian Morley in don't finish last), and Cas, Wakey and HKRs squads we're looking down the barrels of a solid, and probably record-breaking, last place.
After losing all the players, all the staff and moving grounds I'm even struggling to think of it as my club anymore.
How's that for pessimistic.

| I wonder if Tony Gigot has learnt how to tackle since leaving the Catalan Dragons.
I can already feel Joe Grima's workload increasing by the day.

The fact that he has left the Shire and our Cronulla Cousins don't seem to upset would indicate maybe not!

| Was nice to hear Clarky on Boots n All praising his playmaking and passing tonight. I can't recall him as a player so he obviously has something good to offer for Sean to work with. If he had/s a problem defending just have to hope the coaches can improve him
