Quote ="Rascal Bongo Stork"Gillingham FC have passed on some complimentary tickets to their fans for this Sunday's game against Dewsbury. I have a copy of the enclosed letter from the club and it looks like they're really pushing the Broncos game they're hosting.
Some excerpts:
"although this is not by any means compulsory,we would really appreciate some form of testimonial from you after the game.Be it a photo, some words or even just telling friends,we'd love you to spreak the word of the London Broncos experience"
"any words or photos that you could send to media@priestfield.com would be much appreciated and could be used in our matchday magazine for the Swindon Town game on Saturday April 21 or on our official website"
"of course, please dont forget that we here at Gillingham FC are hosting a Stobart Super League game between the Broncos and Hull FC on Sunday May 20 at 2pm"
"tickets for that game are available from the club, either by calling 01634 300000,visiting the ticket office or online at ..."
My money's on a higher crowd at Gillingham than at Orient. I just hope the Broncos dont relocate to Gillingham! Are the Medway Dragons still an option for one of the two remaining Championship 1 slots next season?'"
Well done Gillingham FC

How ironic then that at the moment the Swindon game it to be attended by approximately 0 people due to Paul Scally adopting the Dave Whelan approach of expecting the local Police to cover their own costs for their services.

I remember when I first joined the BB someone chimed in at a comment of mine that London shouldn't 'rely' on away supporters to bolster the crowd - I can't remember the topic - I agreed to a certain extent but I did think the comment a little shortsighted due to the cost of travel in these inflated times especially at the tiny amount of away supporters at some of our home games.
Some of my work involves me taking trips up north or even Scotland & believe me, the difference in rail fares when 'VIA London terminals' is taken out of the ticket price can be substantial with short notice tickets especially when compared to if I drive to and park then take the train from my nearest large mainline station (MK or Stevenage). Something north of Kings Cross/Euston would help away fans immensely IMO - and me too!! .

When fans up North make comparisons with us to justify their place in SL over us they never deduct the away support from their own attendances when doing it because it doesnt suit their argument. In previous seasons Salfords home support has often been no better than ours when the away support has been discounted. Imagine how many Wire fans go to Widnes and Leeds to Cas or Wakey compared to coming to us. Mind you i don't think this season the argument works too well.
I think the 'quote' is one of our good friend Homers amongst others.

Getting your "C's" and your "W's" mixed up Snoopy?
The old Catford Greyhound stadium would be a perfect location for the Broncos (and the loyal fans from SE London could get there so easily) ...actually, forget the rugby, just re-build the greyhound track

Happened before there in January I believe. The game went ahead after the costs were split....
If they do play it behind closed doors, I would expect a few swindon "fans" will make the trip anyway.......if they want trouble, the soccer match is secondary anyway

| My favourite memory of attending a game at Priestfield was when I was 16 and I paid £1 to get in to watch them against Chesterfield, me, 3 mates and about 15 others were in the Away section, as we all hate Gillingham and one of our mates had a vague connection to the Spireites.
Anyone who knows Gillingham knows that the away section consists of half, maybed a third, of the temporary stand behind the goal, the Brian Moore Stand I think, and as it was a quid to get in, the home section of the stand was full of Medways finest on their summer day out. Spent 90 minutes winding them up, including 1 youth who had the misfortune of having a massive nose. He got ejected after 60 minutes, the abuse became too much for him and he attempted to clamber over the divide. There was a waiting party of about 20 lads outside absolutely spewing. Would love to say we had a ruck and came out on top but realistically we ducked down an alleyway and got chased off.
This Hull match is almost full circle for me as I expect their supporters to be up to a similar standard to the Gillingham regulars. They will be right at home that's for sure.

well come to think of it maybe not every door in Leyton but two separate posters here -
www.totalrl.com/forums/index.php ... e__st__220
have had them through their doors so unless it's a massive coincidence they dropped them through the doors of the two internet message boarding RL fans in Leyton and nobody else they must have covered a fair area
WARNING - dont bother reading the whole thread on totalrl - it's basically
person A "bah gum lad,a team from that there London in Super League? No bloody way. When I were a lad..."
person B "well London is a vital part of RL's strategic plan and....."
person A "I'm not listening to you. They're all shandy drinking poofs down there"
person B "well London is a vital part of.......and they're producing a lot of players down there"
person A "What about Swinton,eh?eh?What about them"
etc etc etc etc etc!

Speaking of the O`s fixture I see the Super Broncos season ticket holders are being advised to return there
West Stand tickets to the Club by post or on matchday in order that they can be given the correct tickets
for The Gallery Stand. Thats if I have read todays e mail from the club correctly.
