Why didn't they just shut up shop instead of recruiting so many L1 [players and losing better players to other championship teams. PL seems an absolutely stupid decision Trailfinders is where they should be. Stupidity at its finest moving this team to a new area and hoping to build in another nomadic place. Play in a stadium like PL with the lowest quality players LB have ever had. Its not so much PL, its paying 200K a year for the privilege of playing there, and the fact of ticket costs to watch what is effectivtly a League 1 PT team. Also I'd rather be watching a good team in a small stadium with a plan to move if the squad made it to the next level, rather than getting rid of 90% of your fans, gutting the squad, and paying any remaining money coming from the <300 fans to the huge cost of the rent instead of Squad improvements

Plus the club now has to use Rosslyn Park and Richmond Athletic Ground as well. That won't come for free.

David Hughes is heading for the door (if he hasn't already left) and this is the final throw of the dice. 300 fans (and that's 50 above my predicted average for the year) won't generate enough revenue to cover 40% of the Wimbledon rent......there's no or little central funding, training grounds, transport, accommodation and countless other expenses as well as lobby and monkeys wages, the coaches wages......even part time it's going to cost 1 million to run the club for 2022....unless Hughes is bunging in 900k I can't see us making it to October.

I think as soon as we went PT it was all about survival and avoiding relegation.

The problems at Broncos are known and have been discussed on here. If we a kid relegation, that is a good season (when I say good, it isnt, but in the context of where we are you get my drift).

In terms of how Wimbledon fans will take that, tbh, that's the clubs problem. I've been saying for ages that people wont flock to see a crap squad, proved that last year. Add to the fact marketing is non existent.

I'm starting to wonder if there is a cunning plan for all of this

1) Decision to split to 2x10 teams for SL1 and SL2 is delayed unitl 2023
2) This means that 2022 is not the key season, 2023 will be
3) In 2023, if they decide to split for the 2024 season, they might allow the 2023 L1 winners a spot in SL2, as a promotion reward. (or have a playoff vs 8th in Champ)
4) Winning L1 in 2023 would be easier than finishing top 8 in Championship.

So are we planning to get relegated in 2022, and then push for a 2023 winning L1 to get us into 2024 SL2. As this can be the only reason for us filling the squad with L1 players, and letting our better championship players go.
