| Cowgirl, that's your decision which is fine, going to ask a question though, why do you bother going to any game in that case? In our history as a club we have made 1 cc final. In recent history we have never been even close to the grand final, so actually playing for errr nothing. So why is the fact the rfl have changed the format made any difference. I go to games because I love rugby league, yep would be nice to be challenging for honours, fact rfl have made it so the winners of the has beens 8s gets a trophy makes no difference to me.

| The point of trophies is that you reward excellence.
Handing out medals rewarding mediocrity is complete & utter bollox.
& most Broncos fans seem to think so too by the looks of it.

| Interestingly in his report on that Premiership Final Dave Hadfield said "In the last five minutes, London, [iwho begin a new and unpredictable future as the London Broncos next season[/i, earned respectability with a try from Logan Campbell and the completion of Johnson's hat-trick." (my emphasis) [urlhttp://www.independent.co.uk/sport/rugby-league-workingtons-blitz-overwhelms-london-crusaders-too-generous-1437896.html[/url Dave is a great journalist and an even better Rugby League guy but even he would be surprised that he could sum up twenty years of history in 13 words!

Mark Johnson .... Good finisher.
Anyone remember who was in that side... Mark Riley. Dynevor? Think Riley got injured early it is 20 odd years ago. Memory hazy !!

Dynevor was later after the Broncos takeover. Mark Riley did play and was injured early. So was the hooker Carter, who had been in great form. We never really recovered from that.
Team was Stoop; Gallagher, Roskell, Campbell, Johnson: McIvor, Riley; Whiteley, Carter, Rotherham, Rosolen, Stewart (c), Ramsey. subs: Luxon, Smith. Coach: the late great Tony Tank Gordon
Have to say Workington had some good players in their team that day such as Des Drummond, Ged Byrne, Brad Hepi, the Aussie hooker Mackenzie who had been at Widnes, James Pickering, Dean Marwood and Buck Armstrong.
The Crusaders team that year still remains the one which I hold in greatest affection of all the sides I have seen.

Cutting your nose off to spite your face is taking a team from Super League to a park pitch.
If you want to celebrate possible consolation prizes go right ahead but I'm not interested in the slightest.

I think Dynevor had a month or two over here with Crusaders that season but went back to Brisbane for the start of their season. Hooker and Scrum Half injured in the first 10 minutes at Old Trafford, and watching that game on Sky was the first time I even knew there was a RL team in London. I went to the very next home game: Broncos v Keighley at Hendon FC at the start of the following season. Gary Greinke in charge and that team listed above almost completely dismantled.

I thought Dynevor first played in that bizarre winter season just before Super League 1 before returning for a summer season late. I may well be wrong though.
He now coaches the Port Stephens Sharks with Peter Walsh. Not the Peter Walsh who coached Workington at Old Trafford however.
I recall once the Broncos took over Tank and his players were unceremoniously removed to be replaced by Grienke and a team who thought they were rather better than they actually were.

| Leo Dynevor signed on 4 August 1995 playing 16 games during the 95/96 season (the short winter one before SL started) and then another 21 games in the 1996 Super League season.

I'd also thought that Leo had a short spell with the Crusaders as the first part of Brisbane's interest, along with Victor "Turboprop" Timms. The old memory plays some tricks!

I thought it was pretty bad form by the Broncos that Tony's passing was marked with a couple of sentences in the programme, while later that year we had a minute's silence for Graham Murray. No disrespect of course to Mr Murray and family but Tony coached this club and created a wonderful side in the most trying of circumstances.

I've checked and your both correct, he did play for Crusaders in 93/94. He played 13 games that season.

| Frank Napoli? Remember Bobby Goulding destroying Frank at The Valley. Kicks down his throat for two tries then as we all expected him to do the same kicked to the other wing for the game winner.

Yes it was appalling and just showed the lack of class that the club has displayed for some time.

For all his many faults, Frankie still continues to get as many mentions on here as any number of the club's true playing legends. He really is/was memorable (in a Frank Spencer-ish sort of way).

| Quote ="mickyb1234"Perry, the season has run from end of Feb to end of sep for a couple of years, so we always knew we had a game last weekend just didn't know home or away, so poor excuse really, would rather folk say they just don't want to rather than looking for reasons.'"
Seriously micky? You think everyone is able to book out every Saturday and Sunday for seven months of the year? And that not doing so is 'a poor excuse'? Has it not occurred to you that because we play our games on Sunday, people might arrange other things for a Saturday? Does no-one in your world have a job, a family, other interests, a life to lead?
Let me give you some scenarios.
You've arranged to do something with your kids on the Saturday, are you supposed to let them down because a fixture's been announced?
You've booked the family holiday (and this year you couldn't fit it around the fixtures because you didn't know when they were), are you supposed to cancel the holiday because a fixture's been announced?
You've agreed to go into work on a Saturday, are you supposed to let down your employer because a fixture's been announced?
We had 10 days notice that we were playing on that Saturday, I nearly didn't make it because I'd agreed to things and hurriedly had to juggle stuff around, not everyone can do that so easily. The RFL expecting fans to do so is treating them with contempt. Treat your paying customers with contempt and they walk away. Maybe that's why attendances are struggling across the board. And maybe our missing 3500 fans are in part due to the contempt that the club have shown us in the past.
People don't have poor excuses micky, they have jobs/families/responsibilities/lives, and not everyone can trash them at short notice to accomodate the RFL's latest scheme.
