| I think Lewis is right, we are important. The "Harlequins" brand may not last but a RL team in London will survive.
We see these northerners saying that after 30 years we can't attract a crowd but what about the teams up north who have been around a hundred years and only attract a few hundred fans? Looking at the Championship only Widnes (IMO) would have crowds better then ours if they were allowed in Super League, Leigh and Halifax may get similar crowds but there really is no sense in dropping Quins from Super League.
I've voiced this from day one, the name "Harlequins" was never going to work. The name "Harlequins" is a Union brand and Southerners and in fact all UK people with a slight interest in sport is going to say Harlequins is a RU team and the vast majority aren't going to understand about the RL team. The name "London Quins" would have given us our own seperate identity but kept a part of Harlequins' identity.
Another thing is the shirt, up until last year a Harlequins RL shirt wasn't identifiable until you got really close to it and saw the "RL" bit stitched in underneath the badge. At least now we have our own seperate badge but I think a all black shirt with the pastel colours as trims on the arms and down the side of the shirt would provide us with a seperate identity from the typical Harlequins colours.

| Was'nt this the original London Broncos shirt, I've got one?
Not too pretty, but that is probably due to the poor design/material.
My favourites were the original Fulham shirt and the cool Crusaders shirt of the glorious 1993-4 season. Both primarily black.

LONDON HARLEQUINS? (i am sure there are people out there who know how to use other programmes other than paint)....how would something like this work? Keeps the colours and the ground.....but creates a different ID? I bet a black shirt with the club coulours would shift to both codes fans.....no mention of Harlequins, League or Union, just our legless jester.

| Surely our agreement to wear the brand is part of the agreement. Mind you I thought that was why we stayed rent free (or as near)) But I am baffled as to where these big losses have come from so I can only assume we don't have that close relationship now and are paying a full rent.

I think the initial agreement was for 3 years. If we are now paying full rent then we are buggered........with 3,500 people paying an average of £10 we only generate £455K on the gate and if Evans is taking a chunk of that we may as well have moved to a ground nearer London....

| We may still well get to keep match day revenue. Something we may not get at another ground. We also get to play on the pitch all season (without 3 month "resurfacing" and on the road games). Finally we get to play at one of the few purpose built Rugby grounds in London.
So all in all I don't think it's a bad deal. The Stoop (both it's size and facilities) got us a franchise point.

| There's a case to be made for holding the Magic weekend in London. Why try to generate new interest in Edinburgh when we haven't even got London sorted, when the Magic weekend has been and gone there's at least a Superleague team that new fans can go and watch in London. All weekend people should be trying to flog tickets for the next Quins match and sell the brand. If it were done consistently for five years it would surely provide a boost to the crowds.

It would devalue the Challenge Cup Final if everyone in SL got to play at Wembley as a matter of course, but apart from that it would make more sense than Murrayfield (for which I personally don't have much enthisiasm for a repeat visit) and I like the idea in theory.
Wembley is clearly for hire to just about anyone in order to recoup its massive construction costs (e.g tarmacadam race tracks laid for a couple of days then ripped up again) but it could be a problem to find a suitable date. Seven matches on a wet Bank Holiday weekend just before the FA Cup Final wouldn't be too popular with the FA, and on the last May Bank Holiday it hosts the Football league play off finals. Maybe Easter weekend could be a possibility; this would also help satisfy the wishes of many people to have just one fixture over Easter instead of a punishing two in four days. (I've probably overlooked some other fixture that takes place there at Easter now.)
I think Arsenal FC would be an even better location for a Magic weekend: not so huge but still big enough and closer to Central London, but that would probably be a non-starter as I believe they're adamant it won't be used for anything other than football.

| Liverpool Street born and bred, but no longer a Red! I'm hoping they are strong this season as they will prop the Quins up as they will finish bottom after last nights performance. I'd rather not discuss my missionary position, I'm under cover. London would be fine if you could get Hollands pies. I'm not brave enough for Salford anymore!
