Why would the club not want to keep one of the precious few good players we have. I had assumed if Ellis went it would be becuase he had been snapped up by a top club and understandably preferred to develop his talents there. To think he is going to Wakefield without us even offering him a new deal is remarkable.

Says a lot about our current state of affairs. At the moment the future looks bleak very bleak.

What a bunch of . Do we have any ambition left? When Hughes came out on the pitch last year to declare the club was saved, I thought it was the turning point. Right now, i'm half wondering if we'd all be better off (financially) if we just did a Crusaders.
Not sure it can get much worse. Where is the incentive to get a season ticket next year?

CapitalRL It was difficult not to respond knowing the way the club had treated him and the announcement of the signing of Randall, in my view, was the catalyst (Not for nothing is he known as Director of Rugby). There is only room for one hooker at this club! And you would think that he should be the one who virtually tops all the opta stats this season, in spite of having to play second row when DOR decides he wants to play hooker.

At the end of the day I would say that opting for Wakefield is a step up on were we are at the moment especially if the new owners there are able to put more money in. I really have not seen us in such dire straights player wise since the advent of SL (bring back Frankie Napoli).

I heard he had doubled his wage when he came to Quins from Wakey, so it could be true!

That was my first time in ages listening to the BBC London Radio show and I had to laugh at the 'everything's fine' attitude generated despite the departure of Ellis. My text was fobbed off with the general air of 'well he wanted to go back up north anyway'. That may well be the case, but why haven't we made more of an effort to keep him? Who on earth thinks Chad Randall is worth a contract more than Andy Ellis?

I just had a peek at Andy's Twitter page....and I quote ".Gutted to be leaving and not my choice " ....Very depressed over this.....The last few years as a Quins fan as been a struggle to keep up enthusiasm (and to be honest I think its been more about the friendships and cameraderie that has my wife and I attending week in week out) but how much more does the club think we can take???

Why was he not offered a contract, and Randall was? Some one should explain, but I am not holding my breath!

By the sounds of it resigning Randall is a catalyst for a few things, losing Ellis is gutting especially if we didn't even try to keep him. Would rather him than rinaldi. Wouldn't rush to sign the worrinceys back unless they were extra squad members but I know we don't have the luxury of thy type of thing. Let's hope we use all the salary cap up next year and start a completely fresh page ( the team sheets will be very different next year, a good number of our team are loanees or on trial and I'm not sure which of them I'd want to keep on) because after all we have complained so much this year about bad performances and they aren't all down to coaching a new look team could be what we need

That would be true if Wakefield were not the superior club in almost every respect. Soon to be every respect when Newmarket arrives. Ellis knows this, he' needs to be where RL matters at a club that can only go forward.

You must be delusional if you think otherwise, Quins is a backwater. Your arrogance is stunning for the worst supported team in SL.

Thanks! I had missed that, really disappointed with the Club, what a summer, between the way we seem to be going and Big Fat Sam at my footie club all ex Bolton players and no time it seems for West Ham youngsters, life is not easy LOL

I can only hope that the club has got players of such calibre coming in for next season, that Andy Ellis & Oliver Wilkes could not see themselves as guaranteed first choice players so have decided to go elsewhere to get their First Team rugby.
Will be really sorry to see these two go but will have to wait & see what the future brings !!

Well if the club has not even offered Ellis a contract there has to be serious questions asked. This is not a good sign for how we sit off the field as an organisation, the only worse situation is if we didn't offer him anything because we knew there was no money in the pot for him.
