| Why don't we ask the residents of the borough who know we exist what they would like to call us....I am sure that between all 5 of them they'll come up with something
London RL for me.......I seem to recall that's what we were actually called after the Brisbane Broncos jumped ship, but I am sure the 'olds" on here will set me straight

| technically the Yawnion team are called the "harlequins of london"
I for one do think we need to get LONDON in the team name, if its as simple os makign us the London Harlequins RL then fine, if it wakes up 5 more fans in london to the fact that the harlequins rl play in london then bugger me why not
I still have not bought in to the Harlequins brand and never yet shouted it from the terraces and i do enough shouting
COME ON LONDON

I'm pretty sure they are actually Harlequin F.C. They are known as Harlequins, but legally they are Harlequin F.C. Don't know why they don't have the R in RFC, but what's in a name.
We at least put an s in our official name

It is because they predate the forming of the RFU and therefore the creation of Rugby Football.

| london rl is a good name and gives the quins a better indentity then the current name, erm just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the current location of the quins? its clear to see that london is now starting to produce london born super league standard players and we hear that london has so many kids playing the game now which is fantastic but from what i gather the quins play nowhere near were all these kids are playing the game so to attract them is hard as there so many miles away. i know it might not be popular with you lot but woudnt the ideal Solution to be to relocate were these kids are playign the game? anyway hope you can turn things around and attract some good crowds that london rugby league deserves, whats the current situation on any transfer rumours and whos the fravioute to take charge as coach
GOOD LUCK QUINS FOR NEXT SEASON

Thank you for your kind comments and without wishing to put you down London is actually a rather large place. To say go and play where the kids play is no help at all. RL is taking place virtually around the whole perimter of the M25 Medway, South London Storm, Elmbridge, West London Sharks, Hemel, St Albans, Brentwood so the Stoop is as near to any as anywhere else is.

| Hey, what about re-naming us "The Jellied Eels"? We could twin with Parramatta and we would have a raft of sponsorship opportunities, i.e; Tubby Isaacs, Manzes, Macfisheries maybe even Rick Stein would want to get involved.
Obviously we would re-locate to Eel Pie Island

But when will people realise that playing and watching are two entirely different things
Very few if any juniors or senior players from Leigh East or Miners go watching Leigh Centurions
Watching can result in wanting to play , but rarely does playing result in watching

| We have St George in the NRL and St Helens over here so it has to be St David in honour of our benefactor.........if we are quick we could get the Pope to pop round to the Stoop, the vatican might even be up for a bit of sponsorship.

I think the name thing is a red herring, the empirical evidence suggests name changes don't fundamentally make a difference. I think attendances will rise in the long-term, simply because we now have thousands of kids playing the game in London, kids whose parents never played the game and never had any interest except via Grandstand in the days when that was all the sport on TV.

Yes, but how many of them watch Wigan or another SL club? The other thing is that in Leigh and other RL towns on the M62 strip there are cultural links to RL, most people know someone who plays, or has played, or who watches, that doesn't exist in London. So just getting thousands of kids playing is sowing the seeds of a RL culture, no matter how weak, there are thousands of boys and girls who are now aware of RL in a way they once would never have been, and if even just a small percentage of them carry it through into later life we can get a roll on.

Sorry Kelvin but I can't accept that, names are important as it is an identity, don't you even accept that some may seee Harlequins as that union team near Twickenham Stadium?
No we have to have London in the name and not just that alone, it needs to have something to go with it and not Harlequins or Quins, this is no red herring!

| Believe you're right, Surreyben.
Doesn't seem to be much point in this perennial discussion whilst we are still playing at The Stoop (which is 2011 at least).

| Things change when they can't continue in the same old way. I can't think of any re-branding which could be done whilst we are called Harlequins. We have tried every angle to get the RU lot watching and having Harlequins as a name has hardly brought the sponsors flocking. The Stoop is a great venue but has never shown that it is a factor in attracting a big crowd. If we were to have a makeover, badly needed IMO, it would have to be a name change with a change of strategy. IMO we should target soccer fans and working class people in particular, that is why Twickenham is a problem. The connection with Harlequins/Twickenham is a turn off.
I have no solutions only problems.....................The only quick solution would be to be taken over by a Premier League soccer club and rename accordingly, not likely, I know. We certainly need to turn things round PDQ, winning would help, but other than that we need some miraculous events to grow crowds quickly. Maybe the Pope could help,

| Personally find out where the core support comes from (time to gather some personal info on fans) and also find out where the majority of amateur clubs are located. At a guess i'd say the north west quarter of the M25. Draw a map of the majority area and locate in the centre of that, find a rich person to build a 13k stadium and rebrand to London <insert name> job done, in 15 years time it'll be full every week.

| Whatever borough the new ground is in (anywhere but Twickenham), that followed by RLFC. I cannot believe people think the current name and location is acceptable, absolutely deluded. I'm also shocked to see people suggesting names involving 'London', it's akin to having a team called 'Midlands Raiders' or something, if not worse given the population.
