I think this is an excellent opportunity if it works. I guess its a bit far for people in North/East London but there must be loads of RL fans who support other clubs let alone Quins who would like a pub where they can be sure of watching SL games on sky with a good chance of some banter with like minded fans. When people have made friends/exchanged phone numbers you can make sure your new mates will be there. Could develop into quite a crowd once the word filters round. Maybe Chris Warren should announce something about it at half time.  |

Right on! I'm pretty sick of watching RL on my own or forcing people who arn't particularly interested in it to watch it. I also hate the trips to Walkabout or Sports Cafe, having to beg the bar staff to put the match on.
I went to see Hull Kr V Wigan the other week at Sports Cafe and was surrounded by a sea of loud and p*ssed up Latinos who eventually managed to persuade the manager to change the one screen showing the SL game to America V Brazil, just like the 100 other screens in the place.
One of the things I love about going to watch Quins is the banter and just being round other people who love Rugby League- it's pretty easy to feel isolated down south (I know I felt that way in Leamington Spa), great that we have a community in London, even if it is a small one.
I think if people start going to the Bloomsbury the word could spread and they will certainly get alot of bussiness from it. Also, don't wanna be greedy, but any chance we could get sound on? Not the same without Eddie and Stevo's 'informative comments'. |

Pubs are struggling for trade. This may prove to be a money spinner for these people. A pub in London where you you are guaranteed to get SL games shown and overtime near guarantee you will have other RL fans watching with you. When it gets off the ground and can seen to be working it should be shown on the club website as well as a sticky on this forum. Worthwile all those attending spreading the word to every RL fan in London they know  |

i think this pub thing is a non starter
went after the quins game and watched the Wire game, it's a nice pub BUT overheard the landlady with the black eye saying it was costing too much [sky and she was getting rid of it when the contract is up. £1000 a month

Which is why she is welcoming us and any other club that wants to watch their sport on SKY. Stick with it and see. If she can get two or three sporting clubs in to watch games, spend on beer etc SKY will eventually pay for itself. The more who turn out the better the chance of keeping it. It will definately be there for this season.

Keep the faith mate....
40 people turned up for the wigan game and I drank 7 pints (1 armed steve still owes me a beer btw ). When I left, there were still 10 guys chewing the fat...........so I reckon, including Brian and Alisons meal (great size portions) that she took £15 a head from us. £600 at 33% is £200 towards her £1,000 bill.......and that's 1 game of league. Come the start of the wendyball season she will make the £1k easily.
As an ex-publican I can assure you, No SLY TV is bad for business..... |

| I think it's definately a good idea for the Quins game, as I'm sure alot of the supporters live around that area, and the place will get alot of bussiness from it.
As for the Wires match, only 2 of us there and dead empty (on a saturday night as well). I'm sure the place is struggling like so many other pubs at the mo. Don't like to moan as it is great that someone is prepared to put RL on SKY in London, but can't see the place turning into some sort of RL utopia- might be better to find some sort of convenient point in central London as whatever part of London your from, your never normally far from the centre (unless you live right out in the sticks). Took me about an hour to get to and I'm only in NW London. Got a right earful from the missus who I stupidly dragged along  |
