Spoke with a few others who were at the game and the majority of opinion was that there were no more than 250 empty seats in the East stand, meaning the gate was reported incorrectly. The problem/question is, WHY?
Also, the bar staff????What is going on??? The guy sat in front of me on Saturday missed 13 minutes of the game when he nipped in for a refill after about 15 minutes of the first half


Also, (as an ex-publican I can comment on this) why don't the staff start pulling pints 10 minutes before half time??? If the 1 stand policy is to be a hit, then the players bar at the top end of the Kings should be opened as well, together with a beer truck in the concourse. Lastly, why are there only about 6 jugs available...Surely the opportunity to sell 4 pints at a time is one that should be exploited further??

Toilets at the end of the East Stand were half empty.

The toilets at the ends aren't usually busy, it's the one's in the bar at half time and the end of the game.

behave yourself. Griffin park was a toilet nightmare compared to the stoop. There are plenty of loos at either end of the stand and in the bar area....

I suspect there were far more than 250 gaps, it's just that they were thinly distributed, which creates the illusion of more tickets sold than reality e.g. if the unsold seats were in blocks it would be more obvious.



I think they do, there have always been issues with staffing levels, it was particuarly bad in the members bar when that was open.



Having seen the state of the Aussies who did get their hands on the jugs I'm not sure this is a good idea, at least not to take into the stands.

They were hammered when they arrived. You will always get a few who "enjoy" their day a little too much.

Have to admit as a Disabled supporter and get to sit in the Lexus Stand Balcony. when looking over it did look quiet full. There didnt sem to as many gaps in crowd compared to Wigan game.
I dont know if they only print a limtied number of tickets, but i was talking with a steward when it came over his radio that they had run out of tickets.

That's his problem. He pays his money to get into the game, so why can't he just sit and watch it? If he can't last more than 15 mins without guzzling more beer, he'd be better off saving his admission money and just spending the afternoon in the pub.

er.....I think you'll find he bought a pint, decided to wait until the game was started to get a refill, but was mistakenly under the impression that staff would be serving beer rather than faffing around in the cellar area.

In previous years you had to be a member to buy a tie, with membership coming free with some season tickets or £10 to buy on their own. Bit silly really, as if you know a season ticket holder they can buy one for you.

They were saving you the embarrassment of wearing a tie with a T shirt, jeans and doc martins(scuffed ones aswell)

Good for them. It seems that they were mistakenly under the impression that people went to The Stoop to watch a game of rugby league.

EDIT: Just had this thought, would address concerns about the seating arrangements. Open the LV stand but not the bars on that side. Those who want to sup and watch a bit of RL could use the Etihad facilities, those who just want to watch the game could be in the LV. (Am I the only one who thinks that still means Luncheon Vouchers?)

I have often disagreed with Alex BP on here but in this case he is spot on. Wigan is a Rugby League town, always has been, always will be. Just because you have a few bandwagoners desperate to see a bit of Premiership football doesn't make the club more popular than Wigan RL, firmly established in the local community.

That is utterly ridiculous. Unbelievable.

that would depend on your sense of history... and your access to objective info - to say Wigan is an RL town is odd when 20% more people show up to watch the soccer in an area completely mobbed out with premiership soccer. No one is denying that RL is significant but not all Warriors 'home' fans are from the town, and they include their own posse of bandwagoners...
