What are the thoughts on Billy- Did he do a good job as the conditioner/fitness guru?

I think when he took over we were a 60 minute team following the previous regime- In the past couple of years it seems we have become a first half of the season team and appear to run out of gas in the second half- Did he plan the fitness for the season or was it about getting out the blocks quickly and see where we go. Nobby Nobles teams seem to peak towards the end of the season.

LMS and Clubby seemed to grow in size but lose some of there engine.

He seemed to go well for us, but our fitness levels at the start of the year were amazing this year, and at the end were rubbish
Look what he turned Gareth from and into, he made him lose alot of weight in intensive training, so i think he was good, just maybe worked some players to hard so they were suffering come end of the season maybe.

Hope the next fitness trainer can have Us finishing a season as well as we started last season.

Probably a PE teacher with a degree in fitness I would assume, rather than an ex player trying his hand

I doubt that the trainer will be a "P E Teacher". In all likelihood you'll be looking at a sports science grad who will probably over train the players in season in the mistaken belief that you train hard to fight easy, when what you need to do is not knakcer the players out so they fade badly after the first few games of the season.

I would imagine someone who will flog the players is the top of BMcD's selection criteria.

I'd hope that the location of the endurance running High Performace centre for UK Athletics would provide more than a PE Teacher - and more than someone simply to run the guys around the park.
Billy Peden could have stayed, but chose not to, and it seems to me that the replacement is seen as critical to on-field success and that St Mary's may be able to provide the quality of personnel needed.
