Very sensible but a/ the RFL - lets make the first game at Magic weekend the 2 teams furthest from Manchester and lets give London a Monday night game and b/ the prison warder with his dreams of lebensraum (sic) to The East are involved.
Wait for the announcement about the Saints game and Army Navy! We could end up with 3 games on a micky mouse pitch and see loads of 40 - 20s.

| The RFL when arranging the fixtures can't use a Magic Ball to see if Quins may be at home in cup ties! swapping it to an away fixture seems the most practical rather than another on the road game, but I suppose we do not get to make the final decision on that!

I don't think you would have needed a magic ball to predict that Quins would qualify for a home QF in Heinenken Cup. There was every chance of this happening. I assume the club would notify the RFL of any specific issues that may need factoring into the schedule.

A good reason then for not sharing with a top union club with an overlap now of nearly 4 months of the season then?

What because we have had to move a fixture because of a clash one time in eight years?
I seem to recall the club being chucked out of Brentford for a couple of months every season

Obviously this kind of thing wouldn't happen when sharing with a soccer club.

Wigan.

| bit of a bummer that, I've worked out I can definitely make the massive total of 6 Broncos league games this season and Bradford was one of them. Hopefully it wont be out in that there Kent or that'll be down to 5 - cant see them doing two in Gillingham though, would they try for Oxford again I wonder (sorry, too lazy to check if Oxford United or London Welsh or Oxford RLFC are playing that day). Hopefully it'll be somewhere in London or, even better, Watford (for purely selfish reasons!).

Of course it would happen with a soccer club! (did expect two to jump in quick to that - it was humour) but in Super League there is perhaps only Wigan and us, I'm sure if the good Doctor buys the stadium at Salford he will get First Call to ground!
30 years ago with the RFL we should have bought a small ground and built it up over the years! but that would have been common sense.

The stadium is not part of the deal as far as I'm aware? It is joint-owned by, if I'm not mistaken, Salford City Council and Peel Holdings, and they've no interest in selling. The whole reason why they were even in talks to buy the rugby league club was because without two entities using the ground, they wouldn't be able to get a return on their considerable investment.

Why should governing bodies supply grounds for clubs? In an ideal world clubs would own their own grounds and be able to realise all the financial opportunities from them. Clearly we don't live in an ideal world but I can't see any scenario where this is a good idea.

Really?
As tenants, the club would have booked the 12 days required for matches and should expect to be able to have access to the ground on these days ..if we are paying 200k a year as has been quoted, will the club get 17k in a refund?
Next time I fly back to the UK I won't waste cash on a hotel, I'll just bounce my tenants out for a fortnight

It is part of the deal I can assure you, Salford Council are making staff redundant every day there was always an outcry about the investment they made, so the council have agreed to sell their 50% share, Peel Holdings tend to sell on developments and properties, they built the famous Trafford Centre and it was based on what the guy behind Peel always wanted, but they sold out to Capital Shopping Centres (they are changing their name to Intu Properties. Dr Marwan Koukash plans to complete the roads with the council so the ground has better access, he would also like to build an Hotel (he owns properties worldwide) and also plans to have an Hostel built for academy players, the things you can so for money!
Regards governing bodies, perhaps so! but why then did they buy Odsal? the RFL should have had a ground in the capital which would have been a Centre of Excellence for the South, the London based HQ of RFL could have been based there, sadly currently the RFL though are hardly keeping their heads above water! rather than basing themselves at Red Hall, out in the countryside, it would have made sense to buy The George Hotel in Huddersfield the home of RL and were the game was formed, which recently went bust! but they would never be able to afford it! It's not common sense for me that local councils support purchasing and building of new grounds in the North, when you look at the attendances they are such small percentages of the latest population figures, could you ever see councils helping football clubs to build new grounds? say Liverpool who with their debts can't afford to build a new ground to replace Anfield.
Time we started to accept our game is in a total mess, it is going backwards, while we have allowed Union to take a firm hold, yes the sponsors they get with real Big money, which sadly we can only dream, okay they may be part of the old boys brigade but for rugby league is it not good enough! I know we knock Gus, but who has been CEO of the RFL and has been in control throughout this period of failure? he survives! it is knocking for the sake of it! would he survive as CEO of a big company I doubt it.

| Not sure where you are heading with the O2 aspect but they signed up withh the RFU for broader coverage than just 10 games that may or may not be on tv. Advertising in run up to games, general promotion by the rfu, merchandise sold with their logo rather prominent to thousands who wander around the place most of the time and other media and promotional opportunities. Gillette obviously think the same as regards rl.
Anyway back to the topic. The club assessing the options for this fixture, there is nowt wrong with that. A little hysteria is creeping in that it might be in Kent somewhere. Could be another day that weekend or even swapped fixtures why does the paranoia need to seep in so quickly people.
Lets face it the best product on the market in the rl forum world (general comment) is the new product Insta-RL Mountain. Just add two RL fans stand back and watch your molehill turn into a mountain. Ah we'll the nature of forums.

Sorry but that's not how normal sports groundshares work. The letting team will always write primacy of tenure into their contract, given Quins own the ground they will have primacy of tenure. Will we get a 17k refund, well if it is 17k per game yes we will, if it is 200k per annum no we won't as there are plenty of other dates it can be arranged for.
Primacy of tenure is a standard demand from sports when someone lets their ground out, it's even the norm in non league football never mind fully professional sport.
As Paddock Punter says keep your eyes on Saints (h). That is the same day as Army v Navy, oops!
(For those of you who don't know I am reliably informed the Army v Navy RU is a huge event. I think it got 65k spectators last year. Living in Aldershot it is fair to say this town empties on that day. The bi-annual Army v Navy RL game is held in Aldershot in front of around 150. Some of the Army RU guys are dual coders and play at Aldershot as well. Must be a bit surreal for them.)
