Sorry Dan but I will never buy into that excuse, as a "business" one thing unique about any sporting club is that there will always be a core group of people more than willing to assist their club for no wage in order to help out resource wise. Website work especially [due to it's non location dependance is an area the club would always [and used to get assistance in if they only but asked and had a volunteer co-ordinator to manage it. Even in the days of SAG though there was always felt to be a mistrust sometimes of their own supporters, or even a "they are only supporters so how could they be trusted to do it" mentality, which is pretty damn odd as in every crowd on matchdays there will be professionals from every walk of life, who if asked, would help out using their talents wherever they could, and yup, that even includes marketing. For all his warbling preaching to the converted on here [waste of his fingers Gutterlax could and would have helped this club for a pretty damn small ROI.
There are so many areas that supporters could assist in [coaching
Seriously though, it sounds as if they are too proud to ask these days. It saddens me to hear this and it's amazing what you can achieve when you ask. My daughters small school asked us to use our particuler talents to help raise money at the Easter fair last Saturday. Over $30,000 raised and well run, because they they asked and then used the right people in the right areas to make it work. Nothing complicated just a lot of passion and work, of which our supporters have in bucket loads.

Dead straight Homer. I never wanted to turn a bob or 2 out of the club as I did with other "customers" I genuinely care about the club getting it right and my warbling and preaching are only caused by a sense of utter frustration and despair at the continued fkcing up of almost everything at the club.
I also would say that if the prople at the club are asked to juggle a number of tasks and find themselves unable to do so, then it's time they buggered off to pasture new.....apparently the 02 arena have a history of taking on waifs and strays in their marketing department

| Good turnout in the Kings Bar after the game on Saturday, considering the low turnout and the fact that Wakey fans had (quite reasonably) gone home. The win obviously major factor.
We had a good guitarist/singer in the bar and as usual, it wasn't advertised on the web-site or fbk.
Not expecting any entertainment on Thursday or for the Dewsbury game, but when we next have something going on at the game would be good to see it flagged up on our and the oppo's website, as well as fbk (surely only a few minutes work and costs nothing).
I live in hope that someone gets the message (you know it makes sense!).

| Matchday experience! Turn up come through turnstyle, watch 26 blokes running around a field throwing a ball around trying to score more points than the other.
get very excited at times, get very frustrated at times. Applaud or whinge when it ends then go home! Thought it was a rugby game I was coming to not a music festival

| If its a rugby game you are coming to then your match day experience will be very good also. Nice ground, cheap entry, sit where you want, no trouble, no bad language, plenty of parking, 2 touchies to slaver over.....
I take it you dont buy a programme, wear the home colours, sit with the home fans......... as its just a rugby game you go to.

| I think mickyb is missing the point (probably on purpose to emphasise the fact that he doesn't want anything other than the 80 miins of Rugby).
I am not making a judgement on whether we should or shouldn't have anything going on other than a rugby game , but it is just common sense that if you are paying a band/dj to entertain people, you need to make punters aware of their existence. It's not blimmin rocket science.

What was up with the music though - such a depressing atmosphere - dim the lights and blare music over a pa

| That's the nature of the solo guitarist though, I guess (picture Paul Simon on Widnes railway station writing Homeward Bound...no wonder he was depressed!
I'd be happy with just a dj (or anyone) playing some up-beat stuff (wonder if our matchday MC is up to spinning a few tunes?)
Anyone on here up for it? Surely Pop Pan has got some George Formby at home.....Paddock must have some Lady Gaga...would be an interesting musical mix if we all got to contribute

no, I have no George Formby, but he was a good Uke player, probably one of the best.
I am really into country, 60s, soul and rock and roll, and have deejayed in the past. I doubt whether anyone under 50 would appreciate my style of music! I have also done stand-up comedy - I am a green comedian - I recycle old jokes. I'll get my coat.

| Yeah, Formby is a bit too "Wigan" for my liking
Would be an eclectic mix of tunes if we all turned up with our own musical preferences.

| I am being a bit bloody minded yep, but yes i do get the point if the club do have "entertainment" on it should be advertised!
My point is if the post match entertainment is more important to folk than the actual rugby then its pretty sad, will we get more punters in coz we have a band on post match NOPE we will get more punters in when the results start going our way.
As for match day experience, it should be aimed more at making sure kids enjoy the day! No i dont bring any kids but if the kids enjoy it then they will want to come again
Should the players show there faces after the game! definatly! interaction with the fans is a brilliant way to get people attached to the club
In answer to the question, I have probably 40 rugby shirts and 15 to 20 of them are London/quins shirts etc
No i dont buy a program
No I dont join in with "football" chants!
And I sit where i get the best view of the game, but trust me i make a lot of noise

| Players may well return to being "visable" after the game later in the season........I am led to believe.
Matchday at the Stoop for me was always roll up 15 minutes before KO, get a couple of beers in, find seat, watch game, 3 mins before half time, beer o'clock..second half, couple of beers after the game and hang around if the band are good or we have mates with us, otherwise leave about an hour after the game.....
I loved the atmosphere at Stripes in Brentford, but once the "jesters" presentation took place behind closed doors, another part of the community club feel dies IMO.
The after match party has always been commented on by away fans as a great thing....it should be used to attract people to the games.
After the Manly game in 2009, Mrs G overheard 2 aussie ladies conversing in the loos after the game.....
Stall 1: "Bloody Brilliant! Footie, beer and a great band....what else would you want from a night out"?
Stall 2: "Yeah, I know. Best night out in ages, we should do this again"
Yep, we come for the Rugby................ but we only come back if we've had a good time!

| We used to fly down from Edinburgh for the Wigan match , race back to Heathrow and get back the same day . Not any more . Get down on Friday night get into the Stoop as early as possible on Saturday , usually a kids tournament on watch the match then have a good swally at the after match party , stagger into Heathrow late Sunday lunchtime .
Best away match "experience" of the season , one the Bronco's should be very proud of and use to their advantage .
Regards , EW

| That's good to hear, EW and exactly why I have started this thread....I have heard so many good things from our away fans over many years (but there will be many that have never been here and don't know what to expect).

Well good on them...that's all that's needed (although I wouldn't have blamed them for not forking out money for entertainment when it's a late KO with a v small crowd)

| I was there for the Leeds game last year and stayed right through for the Rob Purdham race night with a handful of other Leeds fans - I live in London so it was easy enough for me to stay but I had no idea this was happening till I got there - many others would have already made travel plans back so couldn't. I had a great time all afternoon (apart from the match itself but thats a different story) in the bar and the players lounge but thats the first time I have aware anything like that goes on
