| There was a few locals smoking in front of stewards and police in the stand too, the steward just told them to do it more subtly. Not too impressed, not really sure what a club with facilities like that adds to SL either, I hope the RFL knows something we dont about where they're going.
I guess all of us standing right in the middle of the popular stand rather than behind a goal or, to one side might have been a bit provocative to some of the locals. Not defending the spitting though, thats disgraceful.

wow should we start a who adds the most to superleague argument? are you sure? should we start with crowd numbers or is that off limits? How about we are both great non-heartland clubs spreading the word in difficult territory and support each other as best we can? what do you reckon?

| Guys, thought you might be interested in this.
Safo, who posts on our own fansite and on here is one of the higher-ups at Brewery Field and recently responded to the spitting incident with the following feedback:-
......
Hi everyone, just to let you know, the Quins fan did put in a letter of complaint, and we have been in touch with him, explaining the "on the day" actions and the continued actions this week. The Box where the spitting came from was spoken too and further action is being taken this week. Most importantly the Quins fan has been given a much more detailed account of EVERYTHING that is being done, (more than I will explain on here) but suffice to say he can see that we do take matters like this seriously and view them with disgust. Every sporting club will suffer from mindless prats like this on occasions, and whilst no one can gaurantee that incidents like this won't ever happen, we can gaurantee that as a club we will treat offenders harshley and make sure they do not have the opportunity to re-offend at our games!! Most feedback we do receive is positive re the welcome visitors receive at the Brewery Field from most of our fans. This is only our 4th home game in Super League, and we are obviously getting new and different fans coming along. People will learn over the season that we will not tolerate behaviour which is unacceptable to US as a club. We won't the new supporters, unfortunately, some of the new supporters visiting us I feel are just curious "one game" on lookers who don't mind stirring things up. Let's continue working together to build, both on and off the field, a stadium that's a fortress on the field, and a great social occasion on the terraces for ALL fans. This is a "first year" for us all, and I have been supprised at some the issues we have had to deal with already. Glad to say though the supprises have been all to do with "newbeys" to our stadium. See you all in 2 weeks.
................
As he mentioned he has been in contact with Quins and the person who made the complaint too.
For what it's worth guys, we are as disgusted by the spitting cretin as you are. You brought a sizeable, humorous (always a good thing) and very friendly support with you and deserved better than to be spat on by some hospitality box freeloader.

| Oh and Tre Cool,
Visiting fans are VERY welcome in our main stand. That's how we always watched Union there, and I'd like to think it's how we'll always watch League.
Was wetting myself with laughter when we were all celebrating scoring a consolation try and the Quins fans started up with "We're not singing, we're not singing, we're not singing anymore!"
Priceless!
I hope you will consider coming down again next year for more of the same (though hopefully with a better result for us) and without the dribbling yokel above you.

| It's good to see that Crusaders have moved to address the matter. I was stood just behind the spitting victim and it was disgusting.
I do have to say though that, on the whole I really enjoyed the visit to the Brewery Field. The atmosphere in the bar under the stand afterwards was superb and I enjoyed chatting with many of your supporters, with whom, I think, as the only other non-heartland club, that we have some affinity with. I will definitely return to Brewery Field next season.

It is my opinion that the Crusaders are not ready for SL and should not have been admitted with a stadium like that and such little grass roots RL. Succesful new franchises (and i dont include us in that) come from areas like Perpignan, Auckland, Gold Coast where there is good grass roots RL, good financial backing, good stadia and a solid fanbase. Im not for the model of us (as was the London Broncos) or Celtic Crusaders being admitted into SL, it lowers the standard of the competition with the romantic hope of top down development. Not for me. But I hope it works and i support what you are trying to do.

| Twaddle, Les Cats took a pasting in their first season too, no one would now say they have not enhanced the competition.
As for using NRL teams get real, what comparison is there to be made there.
Sure Crusaders will take some beatings but I bet they will suprise a few teams too. As for grounds .... lets throw Saints out then.
Only time will tell but if Crusaders can make inroads in the RU heartland of Wales then good on them.

Les Cats took a pasting in front of 8000 fans a week and a developing fine stadium with a squad with a high percentage of locals in it.

| Crusaders are taking their beatings in front of larger crowds than Quins RL, thank god (or should that be judicous calculation) that was not the only criteria applied when handing out licences, their ground is under development as is their team.
Cats were overloaded with Aussies and Kiwis to start as well, their stadium is nothing to write home aboiut either, two stands very little facilaties once inside the ground, they just have the benefit of very nice weather.
If SL was down to crowd size, home grown talent and a decent stadium it would be down to a competion of one, As most clubs are deficient in some areas.
I for one am happy to give Crusaders a chance for three years, same as Cats were given when they were promoted into the competition.

| Glad I stood to one side of our crowd since I left my umbrella at home. Being gobbed on isn’t my idea of a fun day out.
If Celtic are on a mass recruitment drive for new fans, then some of the first timers are likely to be more used to watching Cardiff City, a team who, let’s be fair, have fans who have something of a reputation.
That said, I see no reason why, given time and people letting them know when the problems happen, the one or two idiots who spoil it for the rest won’t learn that’s not what RL is about.
I thought Celtic’s ground was OK, sure it ain’t the JJB or Huddersfield (I hate Huds ground by the way), but I didn’t come away thinking it was dreadful. I confess I tend to prefer my grounds to be a little rough around the edges.
I’ll certainly be going back again.

| I thought the ground was perfectly adequate and as for the gobbing incident most unpleasant but I noticed the stewards keeping an eye out once reported and seems steps are being taken to address the issue.

That's not quite true. They did of course beat us at home in their first season. And Wigan, St Helens, Salford, Wakefield, Castleford.
6/13. Basically half their home games.

Bill to be fair, the only venture that failed was the Giants/Seagulls. Now seeing your location, you would know one of the great reasons that they failed was simply the location of Seagulls stadium.
Chargers were withdrawn while turning a profit (during the SL years, doubt anyone bar the broncos turned a profit during that time) as a pawn on the ARL side of the table.
You'd also know that the Titans are currently one of the most succesful clubs off the field from community up.
If only Quins RL was put together with the detail of the Titans. A fine example of how to create a new franchise. Quins could learn a lot from an exchange with the Titans.

Bottom line with any new club getting off the ground now has to be someone with plenty of money backing it. If Leneghan hadnt run off to Wigan I think we would be much stronger on and off the field.
Having some money backing Hudds has got a good team on the park and the lapsed supporters back through the gates.

There was an attempt to learn from Melbourne a few (7?) years ago. One of the Broncos staff members was sent off there for a few weeks to "learn". Never saw any evidence of anything he may have learned being applied and he left a few months later. Think he got himself a job in Oz. So I suppose he learnt something useful to himself.

IL may have run off to Wigan but he is still bankrolling the club to the tune of 600K per year, plus sponsorship through Workplace Systems. He still holds 60% of the shares too, hopefully the RFL will not be too strict on forcing him to get rid by the end of the season, if they do in the current climate god help Quins RL.
