Feel free to point out the attempts (2000-2013) to engage the immediate neighbours (say 2 sq miles).
St Margarets to whitton, Strawberry Hill to Isleworth......the neighbours.

Get real, I would suggest that they are no more or less interested than any other part of London. There is no evidence that where we have played has any significant influence on attendances.
I live in TW2 and I have not seen the club make any concerted attempt to attract people to games.
If the club are as disinterested in promoting the club in a new location then the results are likely to be exactly the same.

It would seem that the only thing with no substance is your comment above. I am happy to wait for the comprehensive llist of activity in the TW2 postcode carried out by the club in the hope of attracting local residents to the game......
FWIW, I believe that the handing out of flyers to fans making their way to the Big House across the road in 2011 for the Barbarians v Australia match there on November 26th, is the one and only time the club attempted anything in the TW2 postcode.
They have begun placinf generic adverts in the free sheets surrounding Twickenham this year, but in reality, that horse has long bolted.
Feel free to put me right on my unsubstantiated asssertion...I look forward to the documented evidence to back up your claim.
[iBTW....David Huges is the one quoted as saying the locals aren't interested......how the would he know? He has presided over the worst period on and off the pitch in the clubs SL history....he has no interest in anything other than match day and being able to watch his "toy", he employed the current CEO on the basis of a recommendation and 1 interview, he appointed Rob Powell against the advice of everyone and has in all probability killed the club as a direct reult of his futile game of Chicken with the RFL over marketing the game in the SE....
...PLEASE...Tell me how I am supposed to take his comments about the residents of TW2 with anything other than a pinch of salt.[/i
I freely admit to the part [iabove [/ibeing my opinion regarding the role of DH in the decline of the club.....if you have an opinion that differs, then again, I have no doubt you will back it up with tales of the marketing and research done in Twickenham, conter evidence that he wasn't advised not to appoint Powell, he did actually interview more than 1 person for the CEO's position and he hasn't steadfastly refused to finance any meaningful marketing by the club.

GF, haven't you just provided 2 examples of the club actually doing something? Something you have said they don't do!
The latter (adverts) being evidence of actually trying to attract locals? Still, they do something and it's after the horse and all that in your honest opinion of course. They can't win can they. Unless they listened to you eh?

Fuck me....do you do thios purely to wind me up?
We moved back into the stoop in Feb 2006....flyers 3 months before the start of the 2012 season and adverts in local papers AFTER they've said this is our last year at the Stoop and you want to applaud them???????
Fucking hell....I don't care if they ignored the 20 point opus or did each and every one.....just so long as they actually did something...oyster card holders handed out at Canary Wharf and 12 London taxis liveried.....together with 2 viral videos shown in walkabouts and 3 (maybe) 4 adverts in Metro/ES.........7 and a half seasons marketing at the club....not forgetting the name change that did absolutely sweet all......and now the move so they can hide their ineptitude again.
Get a grip. I have a pop at them because they deserve to be targeted.....Hammersmith Hills Hoists are better run at present.
You need to remove your rose tinted specs by the way..1997 with 2nd place in the league and world club challenge games aside, the following 2 years saw crowds drop by 42%.......which are still 25% better than they are this year....due to Bransons total reluctance to market the game/club/games......

Where does it say I want to applaud them?
But you do care about your 20 point plan, you keep bringing it up again and again.
It looks by your own admission they did actually do something. But I was led to believe from your postings that they did NOTHING.
What rose tinted specs? Things are shıt. People who don’t agree with your comments, MUST be defending Gus or the club. That attitude is at times, both incredible and laughable.
P.S. If you get wound up you need to think why. All that's happened is someone has pointed out that you've contradicted yourself. Oh and everyone knows about the lack of marketing and aren't overly happy about it. You seem to forget that.

But you are disagreeing with me purely on the basis of your assertion that me saying the club have done nothing to attract our neighbours in TW2 and then saying they leafletted babaas fans in November 2011 and this year have placed adverts in local free sheets is some how contradictory.....it's not.
The clarify my stand point....the club have done nothing of any substance to attract "local" fans to games at the stoop.......and they have only just started placing adverts in the local paper AFTER THEY ANNOUNCED WE WERE LEAVING THE STOOP AT THE END OF THE YEAR
As for defending Gus = Disagreeing with me........it makes no difference if you are or you aren't defending Gus.....you seem to want to disagree with me on the lack of marketing...and where I bow to your superior knowledge of events on the park, my "hobby" is attendances at the club and a pretty detailed list of what they've done (SIC) since 2002........believe me, the effort and money spent since 2002 on marketing the club is less than a club like wigan spend in a season..

Interesting topic
www.onlybarnet.com/forum/viewtop ... f=3&t=5401
Been having a look at the most recent planning application to modify the stands and floodlights. Residents not happy, petition and angry letters. Most of them never knew planning permission had been granted for a football stadium in 2008. Give the residents a car parking zone, free season tickets, make them feel wanted and the applicants will get permission.
www.harrow.gov.uk/planningsearch ... sults.page ( go to quick search on the left and put in application number P/0665/13 then documents)
At least there are no conditions on the original planning permission restricting the number of events they can hold, unlike Copthall.
The whole development looks excellent.

Whilst I advocate the use of leaflet drops to promote the game, I'd suggest we steer clear of the signatories of the petition in this instance

| The irony is that the residents who signed the petition live on Aldridge Avenue which backs onto the tube line. Complaining about the noise from a stadium once a week, when they have a train rattling past every 5 minutes from 5am until midnight.

| For what it is worth, Gutterfax has it pretty much right about lack of local marketing, in my experience.
I live in TW1 - it was a leaflet through the door announcing Broncos were coming to play at Griffin Park that got me to go see the disaster of their beating St Helens 40odd - 6, after which I continued to watch them as the only game in town.
Since then I've seen nothing else through the letterbox and hardly a sign of local marketing worth the name. I know the owner of the local Sports Shop, have arranged to go watch Broncos at Griffin Park and the Stoop with him, and he's never been approached to put up a poster or anything - and wouldn't a link to a sports shop appear an obvious place to advertise - other local sports clubs do.
As for local free papers carrying ads recently (did I get that right?) they don't come through our door.
At least the Richmond and Twickenham Times carries Broncos reports.

Nope....the minute they announced we were 100% offski, any "interim spend" should have been on creating "events"...like opting for a game to run a deal for anzacs, or letting ST holders bring 5 mates for a quid each. The damned if they did/didn't scenario at the Stoop v2 only relates to 2006-2012.....2013 was over when the Warder played his second get out of jail card

| Two different adverts in the local paper for the wire game, one with a chance to win a signed shirt for the outlay of £1! You have to answer one of three questions: Who are LB playing? Wire, Dragons, Gills. Just hope LB do not move to Gillingham.

Maybe a few but the football club won their league averaging 6,600. Attracting even half of that on a regular basis would require a succesful side. I suspect the sort of team we have right now will attract even less than we do at The Stoop.
Of course, for a one off game we will get more especially if the local amateur team do all the hard work to promote it.

Spot on.
It may well be that the Gillingham FC owners are the only people willing to invest in the club. Mr Scally seems to be very astute financially, turning total debts of 13,000,000+ into a profitable situation in a short space of time.
and he likes animals too
