| A lot of Whitehaven fans have us down to win this one.
They are more negative about the game than us, surprisingly.

| TBF we should beat Haven as we have home advantage. But I'd expect an Haven win up in Cumbria.
Was actually considering going (might be one of the very few games they win), but taking wife away for Valentines, so thats out

Seems a fair price for these 2 teams.

Agreed but it was the word brilliant that almost had me chocking on my biscuit. Could they be sued for using that word for promoting a game?

| Twiiter = Preaching to the choir ......this would be the time for the local free paper, door drop and local radio stations....
I suspect a lot....and I mean 50%+ of whatever gate we get on Sunday will be freebies or close to it. No push on corporate hospo? Is it full?
On the park, we need to win. A loss and we're dead in the water before the season starts.....and FWIW, Whitehaven have a core nucleus of the team that beat us last year.....ignore their 2 losses to date.
I see our landlords are skirting with relegation. Rhey have three tough games starting tonight followed by a 6 pointer.... Birds of a feather.....

Well Kevin Sinfield is going to be working for Channel 4 SuperLeague coverage, it's going to be interesting what they deliver!

Where did you see this news ? Can he take the Wire shirt with him ?
Looking at the ticket site looks like a much reduced crowd for Whitehaven unless there are a lot of late sales.

Just went to ticketing site, looks like less than 500 sold right now, and we are 4 days away from game. Not looking good, we should be over 1K at least and more like 1.5K if we are to build on the first game?
Where are the repeat Dons fans, was the spectacle on offer not engaging enough for them to come back?

It's a little bit more (my counting me be questionable mind), but that's picking hairs and I take your point. At the weekend the sales had squeezed past 500 by a handful of seats. Appears to be circa 125 sold during the week.
I only glanced before the Widnes match, but the final attendance looked a sizeable increase on what was sold on-line a day or so before.
I haven't bought our tickets yet. Basically there is no need when there is no prospect of a sell-out. We take the same approach for anything such as the Theatre, only purchasing early if it might sell out or the good seats go (more an issue at the Theatre than Plough Lane). In the current global climate it's just not worth pre-purchasing for a single event to be honest.
My guess is the final number will exceed 1K comfortably. At a stretch maybe closer to 1.5K, but probably won't reach it. The lack of 400+ Widnes supporters will have some impact, I assuming less than 100 from Whitehaven?
Regardless the figure will be interesting, but only the club is likely to have a true(r) insight in terms of offers used, returnees etc. Assuming there were a large number of first timers for Widnes what percentage would be expected to return? Not huge which is why continuously introducing newcomers is critical. A hit rate of 30% only creates 300 returnees out of a 1,000. At most the number of first timers v Widnes can't have exceeded 1,000 by much (or at all).
I still question the apparent lack of engagement locally and the almost total reliance on AFC Wimbledon supporters to form the additional new fan base. I don't have the baggage of the club's historical issues, so for now I'll accept step 1 is AFC Wimbledon with local residents being targeted as the summer weather approaches. There is some logic in that as you will probably get one, two at best, opportunities to hook people, and a cold February afternoon may not be the best time.

Thanks for this, if this is true and we get over 1K then we still going to correct direction. This would be one of the lowest attended games in the season anyway, so we keep over 1K, then at least we are not going backwards even if we are not building on top of

This is the one to come to. We really should be competitive in this. If not we have problems.
I’ll guess an attendance of just over a 1000
On another thread I’ve banged on about off field stuff we don’t do anymore. Things I missed off included visits to schools - not sure who would do that now and the Food Bank PR stuff isn’t really doable where staff are part time. Broncos management have a lot to think about, a large to-do list and not much time. Tricky times.

| There does seem to be a plan for community fan base building - whether it's a good one is not yet clear.
To be fair experience at other clubs shows this work is invariably slow burn in terms of generating a support base. I think it made sense to go big on Dons fans first. It certainly won't make sense if it becomes clear attracting Dons fans was the only plan.

Yes, I'm on board with everything you say there and little is gained by going all in immediately.
There is also the Community side which I know nothing about. I think orangeman explained there were about 600 given free entry for Widnes, so that is already a second route that should hopefully generate more future business.
I'd like to a solid 1.2K/1.4K attendance on Sunday plus some improved Broncos presence in the ground, especially a programme/leaflet or similar with player info, basic rules and a bit of info/interviews about the club.

Easy to put together.
Simply trawl the web for broncos stories from the last week, get a face to face with Coleman, team sheets, rules of the game, competition.....local high street printer will run off 500 for about £2 each..+ set up. Sell them.......or better still, give them away until we can arrange a better quality.
Club shop. Surely a pop up marquee can be manned by volunteers?
I'm too long in the tooth to be going over this again, but nothing the club needs to do has to cost loads, but it takes man hours.....step one is build bridges with the LBSA.

| 500 A5 proggies should cost much less than that. Stress-freeprint.co.uk do 500 full colour 24 page A5 proggies for £342.09 + P&P.
There's plenty of firms specialising in non league football proggies so you may find cheaper out there.

| Just a note for the marketing department who have been giving out free tickets. How about this idea for good publicity to get a crowd in? 205,000 NHS staff in London with many not paid well. How about offering them discounted tickets which could get bums on seats and offer good publicity for the club as well.A bit late for doing it for this weekends game but maybe a thought for the next game.
They might not come back but it is better than an empty seat and can also claw some money back from food and drink.

They could start with staff of St George's which is close to the ground.
