| Nah, just GF trying to make another point. Have another dig. You know. Missed Opportunity and all that.
Be interesting to hear the point of his post though.
Out of interest. When was the last time Fosters were the main shirt sponsors?

Fosters, who were once our main shirt sponsor up to 2001 I believe, then became a minor shirt sponsor up to 2003, have now sponsored a northern club....that was the point.
The FACT, or as you like to call it, [uthe dig[/u, was for this to have been a missed opportunity , it would have at first have had to have been one in the first place, but as Gus has been on his knees in front of the local store manager at SELCO, I doubt we were in the mix.
Interstingly, I also accused Boss Hogg of the same negligance when he took over the reigns.....he was fairly high up the pecking order in the Beer/Bar trade......yet we relied on IL and Sports Cafe......THAT WAS A MISSED OPPORTUNITY.
The Dig?
If you think SELCO are the only people willing to part with cash for sports sponsorship, then you need your bumps felt......don't get me wrong, it only took Gus 47 games to get a sticker on the front of the shirt, and regardless of who it is, a sticker is a sticker, but 47 games is also 18 months and I can think of no other 'sales" based job where you get 18 months to land your first deal and then get applauded when the rebook, upping from a quarter page to a full page black and white
54 SL games, 18% drop in fans, shirt sponsor for 13% of this time, no additional corporate interest other than a local dentist making gum shields and god only knows how much money wasted on a totally failed name change.....yeah, let's sign him up for another 10 years

| Boos Hogg worked for Foster (Scottish and Newcastle) hence how we got the sponsorship. They have been out of the market for some time
How is Gus supposed to know which companies are looking for sponsorship- I recognise he should be chasing sponsors but everyone!!
Maybe Fosters are trying to grow there sales in the north hence sponsoring a northern club-or would that dilute your argument

Not at all.....our 13 away gameswillbe seen by more northerners and TV viewers that any championship club all season......

Nothing to do with them what we wear or who sponsors us. We are perfectly within our rights to cover up THEIR advertising on our match days if we see it as competing with our own sponsors.......although this clause hasn't had to be used recently, it is in our agreement as tenants (or it was up until 2011).

| You can't even buy Fosters at the bar. Completely pointless, it would make more sense to try and work with existing partners at the stadium than dream up nonsensical deals with rival firms in the same industry.

Here's a fact. Very often, when the club doesn't do something as YOU deem to be the way to go, it's called a "missed opportunity" bu you. Some people reading this will see it as the club failing. Purely based on your comment.

From memory, Is that the same Keith Hogg that sponsored us whilst he was involved the aforementioned Sponsor, Fosters?
The thread is pointless on this occasion.

Few points here.....firstly, the club don't do anything "very often". Next up, regardless of if I agree with their course of action, unfortunately for them (and you) is they have never, ever proven me wrong, but I have often (not very often BTW) called it early and called it right. Lastly, the club are failing...in many ways, most of them of the pitch. Reliance on 1.5 million in handouts on top of a 2 million income from tickets and SKY is not a success......by any stretch......42% of their income based on charity.
2 Marketing Managers employed from Cricket, 2 CEO's employed from cricket and between them, they've seen crowds drop by close to 30%........ticket holders, viral videos, GRAB-ONE DEALS......these all smack of someone trying to be clever without actually doing any work.
Don't get me wrong, I never rated Chris Warrren as a marketing Manager either......staff used to let the volunteers collect the flyers at GP then bugger off home not helping with the door drops.....laziness is part of the club mentality...especially in the back office.
The current CEO sacked his 2 'personally picked' staff in marketing and corporate and replaced them with a PA for himself......do you need me to draw you a map?
I started my 1 man crusade in 2002.......they have ignored me or paid me lip service when it suited and they have never implemented or attempted anything I suggested........whilst all the time losing money, sponsors, coverage and fans.
Why do I care?
I care because there is MASSIVE potential for the club if they'd just bite the bullet and go for it......11 years since I first suggested anything and they are worse off now than they were then.
10 years ago, they stood a fighting chance, but the damage being done now, is getting close to irrepairable....when DH finally goes, I see the club dropping down a tier.....homeless, semi-pro and being raped of all it's young talent by either northern League clubs or Union in the South.....kind of like before the Superleague was even thought of......but some on here call that progress!
it's only my opinion BTW........I may be wrong.....I'll be happy if I am.....but I somehow doubt it on current evidence.

No, pathitic would have been to compare the 1.3 million a year in revenue generated by Saracens through sponsorship and naming rights on a stadium that we aparently looked at but dawdled upon, with the sense of relief felt when we finaly got a shirt sponsor with 7 games of the season left......the first season back as the London Broncos....the "all saving name change season". Saracens get about 6k on average to their home games in the regular season.......does that mean SELCO are giving us 750k a year?
Pathetic could also be the comparisson with the 300k a year that Bradford have nailed down for naming and shirt rights....only 25% of Sarries, but decent enough all the same for a club that nearly didn't exist 2 months ago....are we on that much?
I call it as I see it....and IMO, SELCO signing up for 12 months only looks good because of what went on for the previous 2 years.......which was pretty much nothing.
The Current CEO is learning his trade at the clubs expense. By the time he moves on, probably back into cricket, he'll have gained experience at our expense....he was recruited on a whim (if what I have been told is true, it's even more shocking than you could ever imagine) and has done nothing in 2011 or 2012 to point to him knowing what he is doing.........his tenure is proving very similar to his Predecessor.

Apparently something in there is unfortunate for me? Not sure why you'd take it upon yourself to think that.
None of what you've just said has anything to do with what is (in your opinion) an apparent "missed opportunity" with Fosters. And you appear to have ignored the fact you were wrong with the dates of Fosters being our main shirt sponsor and also you were having a go at the very man who, whilst at Fosters, provided us with sponsorship and the aforementioned shirt sponsorship.
Why don't you talk to Fosters and ask them why they chose Rovers? Tell us what they said.

| Would we have been able to do a deal with Foster's anyway? I know many breweries have been involved with sponsoring RL clubs in the past but these days I thought the RFL were against having sponsors that were seen as 'not suitable for family sport' ie booze, fags, gambling etc..
