| I saw more enthusiasm and the players that played well last year by and large played well today. BJB is obviously a handy addition. But that still leaves us way short is most departments.

| It was 20 minutes before we had the ball in the opposition half and besides 5 minutes the 1st half was dreadful
There is just no creativity for me and no stage was there ever a thought in my mind that we would win
Liked the simplified seating arrangements, probably about the crowd expected...........poor and for all those who derided me for saying that replica shirts should have been available before Xmas by saying as long as they were there for the start of the season its OK................well they weren't and its pathetic
And to see a quote from the coach saying
"I was excited by our defensive performance in front of our try line."
well we would all be delighted by that if there was any hope of scoring at the other end but at home against a team who we would probably consider in our mini league then I am not sure its enough to get excited about

| Tend to agree about the ingenuity in attack. However I thought the defence was superb. I also thought the attendance looked bigger than it might have been for the same fixture last year. To me we looked badly in need of a run out prior to this game.

| Defence was excellent.
Attacking was ... variable. No platform in the middle and a bit too rushed when it went out wide. But we had so little possession in Wakefield territory that it was obvious we weren't going to win.
Crowd ... I thought it looked around or just over 4,000 but it's been announced as 3,800ish?

| Thought both sides better in defence than attack - not surprising for so early in the season (when I could see properly - why didn't I remember to bring my baseball cap ). The difference seemed to me to be the number of errors and penalties against us which meant Wakefield must have had a significant advantage in terms of territory. Goal line defence - and it was excellent at several times in the game - only goes so far. We have to cut them out, but again - first game. If there has to be a choice I'd rather start slow and pick it up than follow last year's pattern.

| think its very negative on here. personally thought quins played some good rugby today. defence was superb including being on the line for three sets. also thought they moved the ball nicely out wide which needed some desperate tackles.
ollie wilkes will give 100%, jones bishop looks a brilliant prospect and with the class players of dorn and purdham to come back i think quins could do ok
glad to get away with the points today

| It may be negative and that is probably clouded by the fact I haven't seen us win since early June and our next five games are:
Warrington
Catalans Dragons
Melbourne
Hull
Leeds
And I can't see us winning any of those either.

Yes, correct. 8 months since a home win, a grim battle for bottom place awaits! This is our thinnest squad since 2001.
So much for early season enthusiasm. Still BJB what a player, how long before Leeds recall him. Boo hoo.

If we can compress the opposition defenses under the post and whip the ball wide quickly to him so its a 'one - on - one' situation then he will score us loads of tries. However, BM never managed to do this with Dorn so I doubt he will manage it with BJB either. Lets pray for lots of broken play for him.

| Personally I thought Quins played well given the players you were missing. Luke Dorn ripped us apart in the second half at your place last year and his absence was telling.
BJB is a great prospect and I think you'll enjoy having him this year - he played well today, just as he did for Leeds when we played them on Boxing Day.
I'll see you all again when Melbourne are in town!

| I thought we went quite well. Attack was limited, defense was good. In the past we have come out of the blocks to fast and faded in the second part of the season.
Can people not see that Hughesy has cut the cloth. We have lost Hill, Paul, Robinson, Maclinden and not replaced them. We lost 1.5 million last year- Its great talking about players of the past but the club went bust on poor crowds. We are in a transition period bringing through the Londoners.

The cloth has truly been cut and I suspect there is not one London RL fan who would blame David Hughes in any shape or form. The club is indeed in transition, the real worry is whether it will be around to come through the other side of the transition.
So much has remained unchanged, sod all marketing to boost the crowds, a playing kit that was seen by the masses for the 1st time today, most other clubs had replicas available before Xmas, we still do not even after the 1st game. The PA system was awful (not necessarily Quins RL's fault) and still when you are sitting there shivvering in the cold you cannot see the game because the bleedin sun is in your eyes. The only two stands where the sun has an impact are the ones used for Quins RL games....................has ANY thought gone into the match experience for thr fans
The focus needs to be on how we can attract and keep fans through this difficult transitional period

Tough one as defences on your line are taught to move up as one and slide.

| Went better than I thought / worried pre game - thats said there is plenty of room for improvement, but some nice new touches and variations along with a solid defence (how tireless is Tronc??), some 'pre season' lack of cohesion and understanding and annoyingly too many errors and penalties (probably on the back of lack of match fitness). We were up against a HUGE pack and we matched it. What we didnt match was the creativity in the halves.
Poor show on the replicas, and I thought the crowd was pretty decent - I look forward to summer rugby though.
But most impressive, firstly the improved engagement by the club with the community with the excellent pre game tag tournament (hopefully many more of these to come) and secondly another London boy on debut (prouder still as he started as a junior at St Albans Centurions ).
So not the best start but from my perspective far more postives than negatives.

Arhh back to the sun argument
Match day experience is great- The band after the game was excellent. Im not sure what other RL club you base the poor match day experience against but having watched RL for 30 odd years living up north for a large proportion, and living in Sydney for 6 months watching matches every weekend at a variety of grounds the Quins day is without question the best.

I guess it depends what you want from the day. To some the pre-match and post match stuff is important and I have no doubt that its very good. Personally as I do a 110 miles round trip by car to each home game I prefer to arrive at say 2pm and leave at the final whistle, so the important thing for me personally (and I know not for everyone) is match experience, not a match DAY experience and not the quality of the booze up and live music afterwards.
Its an undeniable fact that the sun spoils the viewing of the game and me personally (and again not everyones view) I would prefer to sit in my seat and not have to shield my eyes from the sun on a freezing cold January day.
So its all about appealing to all fans, sadly having the best after match party as we are continously told will NOT put bums on seats, its the thing that happens between 3pm and 4.40pm that will decide that and yesterday it was not a fun experience.
Just my opinion
