| Good luck to them.
The simple fact is few sponsors working at our level will interested in Wigan and few sponsors looking for a Wigan type investment / return would touch us. Unless you happen to know the CEO sponsorship decisions are business driven generally and, sadly, we currently appeal to very different sectors. Hopefully London may be able to piggy back a few deals if Wigan open doors for RL down south. Possibly a few converts to the sport too.
It will be interesting to see what their planned investment in London rugby league coaching is. A few token lessons the week before any such game will be nice PR but no more. Fund a development officer or two down here to replace those lost a few years ago and southern RL could win big time.
Not totally convinced how long this will last mind.

| They are talking of bringing a Super 8 match to Fulham or QPR, already have appointed two staff for their office close to Buckingham Palace, be interesting to see what results long term, and how long they will keep up the operation.

| I'm happy with that along with one of the England v NZ tests being held at the Olympic Stadium as well. Any top level RL showcase in London is a positive and I guess the Pies are looking longer term rather than it still being thought of as an M62 slip road competition at the top level.

| Surely there is some form of displeasure to be aired by those at the Broncos with Wigan trying to prosper on their patch? Wigan's presence in London is bound to have a detrimental effect on the Broncos and if Eric Pollard really was a man of integrity or class, he'd be investing his money into a London side.

They are after blue chip and financial. Companies who want national exposure, not local exposure. Probably TV exposure, access to corporate networking, big event schmoozing for their clients etc. The sad thing is Quins RL could have done this, and frankly the Quins name would have opened a few doors, but they blew it. (As an aside the Wigan board suggests one of their London employees is ex Quins RU so quite possibly headhunted by Ian.) I'm not convinced this will work for Wigan but good on them for doing it. I do hope they don't play a Sunday though as Broncos / Skolars will then be hit.
I used to know someone at Slough Jets ice hockey. Slough Trading Estate was on the doorstep and they spent hours trying to get sponsorship. Sadly these firms demanded TV exposure, national and sometimes international exposure. Many would sponsor football etc, even other ice hockey teams when the Elite League was on Sky. A team offering exposure in the local newspaper was irrelevant to them. A lack of money was one reason Slough Jets dropped two levels last season.

| I reckon they'll do more and achieve more in the capital than we managed in 19 SL seasons.......good luck to them. Goes to show that the RFL were idiots for not letting him keep us as well as Wigan and Hughes was a gob for burning bridges with him!
