That result was absolutely crucial! Round 13 last year we also played catalan away and came away bitterly disappointed following a game we really should have won. We then went on to lose, I think, 5 in a row with a win at home to London breaking up a dismal run and our season fell apart. The psychological boost this win will provide is great- especially doing it with 12 men- for both players AND fans. Oh when the giants.....

Excellent result, the French would have been screaming for more red cards/penalties in the last 10.

From what i saw, Brough and Lunt were on top form and Ferres and Wardle looked very threatening on the left.
We're already showing more character this year, last year we would have lost that match !!.

I'm not saying that we would or wouldn't have won this match last year, but let's just remember how we won at Leeds with only 12 men.

wouldnt drive up from lloret de mar and back down again in the same day, just too much of a drive, tiring!!!!

the weather was awful , colder than here. approx 200 giants fans made the trip over and were in great voice.

i have never been to such a biased game towards the home team, it was an absolute joke and so is childs.

anyway , great win and victory was very sweet.

Just looking at the stats and it looks like the Giants did really well to get the win. They made very little yardage particularly down the middle with only the two wingers making more than 100 metres. Our forwards seemed to make very little impact with ball in hand.
Faiumu and Taii look like they got virtually no game time so it was almost like playing with 15 which shows the efoort those players must have put in particulalry after losing Robinson.
Only 12 missed tackles is great defence with Lawrence making 38 and missing none.
We sored 5 tries which is great going against a team that only missed 9 tackles all game.

11-7 to catalans in the penalty count too.

taai played limited mins again but made some strong carries, topped the average gain chart.

Seemed to take an age to get to perpignan on the coach from Lloret ,3 full coachloads went from fenals garen hotel,i would have said about 600-700 giants fans there in total ,agree about the match officials ,they were a disgrace

think the coach got back before me in the car! and i put my foot down .... you must of taken the toll roads?

next time ill opt for the coach instead of driving or stay closer to perpignan

At least 200 came from Spain apparently, we set off from fenals!
Thankfully still in Spain where tom and weds supposed to be hot and sunny!
As for the game child was so swayed by the locals I really thought we had no chance especially when robbo got red but we stepped up against the 15 men in front of our 12!
Can I also point out the Catalans shop giants should take note of their ranges though not their prices ( but then again owt legit in sportswear in Spain/France is double our own prices!) I was quite impressed with their shop!

agree about the shop, great selection, we need to get ISC on board..alot was NRL though. and no fridge magnets!!

we were back in perpignan 25 mins after the game enjoying a refreshing kronenbourg!


you should try it next time mate.
i would have said bout 400-500 altogether as there was some in the main stand as well as our main group.

as for the game, had blanch's try not been ruled out i think we would have gone down.
we showed tremendous spirit to come back off the canvas 3 times!
firstly,after appearing to be crusing after murphy's try,they scored 2 quick fire tries which in all fairness i didn't think they deserved.
then after they went 16-8 up we got back into it with some brough magic,and again after robbo's red card. fair play to everyone for sticking at it,despite the officials,the crowd and at times the game going against us.it was a good sign that maybe,just maybe things could go right this year.

we were chatting to robbo after the game,he was adamant he hadn't done anything wrong and said he was gutted because he thought he had let the team and the fans down.

also what a truly great man ken davy is, going round nearly every supporter in perpignan and thanking them personally for coming over and again after the game,greeting and celebrating with the fans outside!!

a great weekend again,despite the weather!!
for anyone that hasn't stayed in perpignan yet,give it a go it's a great city,friendly locals,and a brilliant laugh,although some of the dancing left a lot to be desired

We had a great time in Perpignan too, both my teams won which put the cherry on the cake!

I've still got a sore throat from all the singing and laughing we did, meast you owe me a rib which I lost when watching you or was it Tinky Winky dancing



Perpignan is a great city to stay at, very friendly and a great bunch of bar and cafe owners who can't do enough to look after you, it feels like home every time I go there, already looking forward to next season's trip.

Nice to catch up with you mate,the only thing about staying in Perpignan is the cost of the beer and the food ,its twice the price of Spain or is it me just being a tight git
