Although I would love to have Ellis at hudds I'm glad we didn't go for him. Hodgson came for a pile of money and did a good job - but by letting him go it freed up the cash we have managed to put jerry, leroy, Bruno kev and robbo on long term deals- who would we want to lose from that lot? that means that our future looks good. If we signed Ellis we wouldnt be able to sign up larne and bobby. And it would mean a very good player would have to sit on the sidelines... Lod...faalogo...or our future in ferguson.....Bruno, the giants are in an excellent position with a host of good young players coming through- for me the club have got their recruitment policy absolutely spot on.

WTF? Is it standard procedure for fans of a club who failed to get their target to immediately imply that the club who did paid way over the odds and couldn't possibly be a more attractive club than their own. It said in our paper that he will be on significantly less than £200k per season.

Exactly.....as good a player he is i would be quite disappointed if we did sign him and have to lose out on signing more potential youngsters for the future just for the sake of having one player for a couple of years !!

I think thats what Nathan has installed into our club - 3 or 4 years ago we would have been excited about having this one marquee player in our squad but now its almost a sigh of relief we didnt use a large chunk of our cap on 1 player.

I wonder if these big name signings are worth the dosh. Gareth has been superb in Oz, but so was Fielding before he went to Wigan, they paid a helluva wedge for two fairly good seasons and the remaining part of his contract for being in the sick bay. In retrospect - not a good deal! How many good kids could have been brought through for what was spent on him?
To my mind these are short term fixes which have repercussions in the long term.
The way the Giants are shaping up with all the young talent on show and in the pipeline, tells me that this is the way to go.
One marquee signing does not make a team, it's the other twenty odd team mates playing for their colours that will triumph in the end.
