| Why go for a traditional shirt that looks identical to all the others. I loved the Maori tattoo one as it was something different and had real meaning. Why harken back to the past we should bd dragging the club into the modern world! Just hope that the colour goes back to the proper claret instead of that purply colour. Supposed to look like the wine in my glass!

| It would be boring if we had just hoops every year. Might aswel have the same kit every year. I like it when they are abut different. Abit less busy please this year though. Tryed having too much design on last seasons.

Aresnal - same kit every year (bar last season at Highbury)
Leeds - same kit every year
Saints - same kit every year
Yes we can have variations, but Maori Stripes? No.
Claret/Gold/White is best.

| Barcelona have had the same kit for years and are one of the richest clubs in the world. Their kit is simple and iconic, because they never change it. It's farcical to suggest that changing your kit improves sales. It doesn't. All it does is mean you are selling to the same small market over and over. You sell more by establishing the brand. Look at Coca-Cola, red and white is so ingrained as their corporate colours that people still believe that they are the reason we depict Father Christmas as being dressed in red and white.
Claret and Gold hooped home kit, white shorts. Vary it a bit occasionally.
Predominantly white away kit or possibly Gold.
Third strip with an alternative design and or colour scheme. If you want to have a non traditional home strip then have a more traditional third strip.
That way each year you have a new strip which your settled fan base can purchase but you have also got brand establishment as well.
It works in the NHL. New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings are probably the two teams that sell more replica strips than anyone else. Neither team has sigmificantly changed their strip since the formation of the NHL. Indeed few of the original six have. Montreal Canadiens every year play in Red Shirts with blue bands across the chest. it's their strip, it's their identity. Boston Bruins are the Black and Golds. They may vary the amount of gold on the shirt or include some white but you wouldn't see them stick paw prints on their shirts.
ATEOTD it's a uniform, it's supposed to identify you as a team not make Karl Lagerfeld jealous.

Your analogy is not relevant at all! All the companies you have mentioned sell to a much wider audience either american or worldwide! barcelona are a worldwide brand selling to a worldwide market- to suggest that the same marketing strategy would apply to the giants (or any RL club) is ridiculous. My italian cousins would love an english football shirt from liverpool, nal or the england strip - theyd smile politely if i gave them a giants shirt and stick it in a drawer. Giants have stopped providing "ladies" shirts because they dont sell enough! The only people who buy the giants strip are giants supporters most of whom live in Huddersfield. If the strip is almost identical every year the usual people buying the strip wont buy cause whats the point? they may as well wear their old one an noone will know the difference. when the giants start selling their brand abroad then yes the strategy would be sensible - we sell a few thousand every year not a few thousand every month or week!

You don't have to have the same strip, you can vary the trim, vary the width of the stripe, vary the number off the stripes, vary the collar etc. However you will never establish a market identity by changing the strip every year. You could apply the arguement to any sport in the world. the most succesful clubs are those that don't change their strips significantly every year.
I haven't suggested anything about adopting Barcelona's marketing strategy. I merely pointed out that you can't generate sales in the long term by releasing a new kit every year. Whether you have a small fan base or not. People will buy a new kit or not. The suggestion that they will do so because you put a maori tattoo or a swath of baby sick across the front of it is ridiculous. Short term it may help but the reason that these brands are world wide is because they have not changed. Coca Cola changed their branding in the 80's and sales plummeted, it was a massive disaster. Kit Kat produced a bar in a Blue Wrapper, it didn't sell. Rebranding should only be done if a product is failing.

But why do they have to all be non-traditional? Wigan sell shirts that are the same for two years, and have an experimental shirt on the third. OUR SHIRT IS HOOPED. Why do fans want to ditch our history?! A history of greatness, yes, of some failure, but we were at one stage the greatest Rugby League this side of the world - we want to ditch the patterns that are synonymous with our history.

Because Wigan have had the same basic design for 50 years, not played around too much (bar a little in the 1990's).

| Traditional designs with slight modifications every year for all clubs would be great, rather than something that could have been designed by Jim Morrison from The Doors during his worst periods of excess.

| It seems to me that the club are probably losing sales through going too far too often from a traditional shirt. From my vantage point in the Kilner bank there appeared to be more 2008 & 2009 shirts than 2011 in the crowd last season (more of each, not combined), they also seemed to rush out a hooped polo, which I suspect was down to the unpopularity of last years poor imitation of a Huddersfield RL strip.

| Lets be clear the brand is the Huddersfield Giants and not the shirt! The shirt is simply an image that relates to the brand. Claret and gold are clearly the colours that relate to the overall brand and I for one do not have a problem with the club bringing out a fresh image every year utilising the 'brand colours'.
Personally, I dislike having the same design every year as it show a rather staid and complacent approach to marketing. You cannot compare a mass market product (Coke) against a Niche product (Giants) they are two totally seperate market segments and therefore have two totally different (but highly relevant) focused marketing strategies that will promote the overall brand going forward.
I would be more concerned about the relatively poor quality merchandising we keep dishing out, particularly when you compare it to the Rhinos for example. I for one would love to purchase more 'casual clothes' but the designs and quality are poor.

Hey! Huddersfield Giants are not a brand, they are a club, and the supporters are central to that. The Supporters see Huddersfield in Claret and Gold Hoops.
