No, the legal adviser will have advised that and used a broker to find an insurance company to do that. The solicitors will have been paid out for their time from the policy.

ATEOD I can only speculate based on standard practice from the industry. Someone had to sign and pay the premium. If they went in bare then expect to be burnt.

Fair does to Keith. He had a case, based on things I read yesterday he had a strong case. Thewlis sending emails with with subjects like he did to his agent is just amateur. I hope the club will learn from this. A more professional approach is needed from several areas as the back of office is not matching the onfield.

Your cheap BTE policy ( Before The Event) is very different to an expensive ATE (After The Event) Policy. You get a cheap policy based on you jumping through a set of hoops. You policy is cheap because the chance of payout is low based on thousands of people paying into the pot with a couple of payouts. An ATE policy is based on something that HAS occurred and will happen. The premium is much higher and therefore doesn't need the hoops.

Ginger ,there is the cost of the trial the Barristers the insurance pollicy Masons team will have put in place in case they lost.

The whole of RL needs business acumen - not something I possess, but if you do then go for it. There are too many people involved who think they know what they're doing but in truth are out of their depth (I don't exclude the club I love from this), but I wonder if they keep real talent out as it would show them up for what they are - amateurs.

What is important is that we learn the lessons from this event so there's no repeat. There are other clubs that seem unable to do so. And equally, some fans!

Boydy, The ATE policy will cover all that except the cost of Keith's policy. That will have to come out of Keith's award as Keith's out of court expenses won't be covered, that's his policy and owed by him. The benefit of a policy is someone checks over the costs so paying Joe to carry Keith's bag won't be covered and everything will be checked.

Listen mate KM was awarded 167 which will increase when his legal cost and expences are callculated in so he his looking at about 200, then the barristers will have to be paid plus the insurace plus the cost of the trial and that will bing the cost to about 300 and unfortunatly the Giants will have to foot that bill happy days for KM.

The costs of the legal teams will probably be borne by the losing party i would guess that both teams had a minimum of a barrister plus a junior and a solicitor in attendance. They would have been paid by the parties at the private rate that would be a minimum of £2k a day for the barristers ( anyone half decent would have been charging £5k a day).

The legal advice and conferences held before the trial would also have been at the same rate. I would be amazed if the legal fees were less than £50 k

The Judge was definitely a Leeds fan fed up of the kickings.
We need an extra 10000 fans to turn up to pay the ridiculous payout.

The club statement from Ken Davy was very good and laid out the standards that the club expects, and I applaud him for his stance.
The Judge in the case was very soft and too liberal, although I liked Mason, he let the club down.
