Whatever people say about the coaches this year they should be congratulated on making decisions and changing things that is a positive IMHO'"
I honestly don't know Durham as none have the experience to show they make correct choices. My comment was due to the fact that someone else said we haven't made wrong choices in the past. That is true- and if it was those same people making these choices I'd perhaps feel more certain.
I guess we will find out if they make right choices-but by then it makes no difference.

| Quote ="Durham Giant"Weird post.
Baloo has brought in Ta ai, Mullally, Fileden, Kopczak and BLacmore.
In a first season that is a good few changes. Due to contracts and available players there has been a lot of changes in personnel
I was praising them for making changes and freshening things up.
That is what we all wanted and all said needed to happen at the end of last season. Maybe not some of the changes we would want but they have made changes. I applaud the coaches for doing that.'"
My point exactly all bar Kopczak have alot to prove. To be fair not much change is far better than a mass exodus which could well have happened with Brown's departure. If the likes of Ta'ai can live up to the hype and Fielden stays fit the coaches will have proved themselves very astute movers and shakers in the off season but lets just step back and see a few games before we decide.
Saying that having just read Anderson's thoughts on the Eden move I think he deserves total respect for coming out and saying exactly why it has happened and fair play to him for that.

| murphy for me at full back next season now eden has left.
as for andersons decisions i feel he has got most correct so far, as for his signings if we go by ferres he knows what hes doing as ferres was very good for us back end of last season.

Yeah Ferres and Lunt are no brainers and Kopczak for me is a great signing if 2 or 3 of the others work out it is great business but we can not know how things will pan out for a fair few months such is the joy of an off season.

| PA likes grix, I can see him getting the nod because of his style of play as an extra half back - murphy is old school and a different fullback altogether.
ferres hasnt impressed me massively - would rather have kept kirmond!

Were they???
The question was "Who would your full back be?" so infact no one was wrong.

I disagree with you on this one Jools. I liked Kirmond, as a lot of fans did. The choice was never between Ferres or Kirmond, however if it was; I would prefer Ferres. We saw just how well Ferres can break a line in the Leeds game towards the back end of the season, not just by picking a good line but also by having ball playing skills.
Kirmond should never have been pushed up to prop, and it was disappointing to see him leave, but the fact is I think we have a quality selection of second rowers now; a selection that I think Kirmond would struggle to break into.

Ferres had a good game against Leeds I agree- but it's the only time I've ever really noticed him(apart from when he dropped the ball or missed tackles). If ferres plays like Leeds every week then great- but he didn't back that up for me.

| I agree with that annoying, but understandable given his injury lay off time.
personally I havent seen enough good stuff from ferres to convince me to put him in before chan or bruno, and although LOD (or ferguson) wasnt great at the end of the year I have seen what he can do.
Ferres will have had a full preseason training and time to learn the systems and could turn out to be great -Im just going on what I know of the players based on what i've seen personally.
By the start of the season they will all be in a different place and dependant on how they have performed in training PA will make his decision and Ill maybe rethink mine once I know more.

| Ferres was outstanding against Leeds, a danger every time he got the ball, which was generally going forward at speed of a good ptb. before he signed my perception of him was a dangerous player going forward who was not so good defensively. From the little I have seen of him in a Fartown shirt I would stand by that assessment. a good preseason and knowing the systems better will improve the defence, but I suspect that will always be the weaker side of his game. If the forwards get on the front foot enough and he gets good ball moving forward at pace I think his strengths will certainly outweigh his weaknesses.
As to how we will play next year, I think a lot will revolve around BF and whomever plays second row on the other side (Chan, Bruno or Ta'ai?) big powerful running and ball playing second rows with LOD and the props providing a platform for them to get on the front foot and attack the edge like BF did so well against Leeds.
