| Overall the best team won today, purely because they took their chances and we didnt, simple as that.
The ref was second rate, I wonder if he couldnt see what the saints players were doing because they were camoflaged in their green strips.
He certainly didnt see them lying on, grapple tackling or passing forward.
Ah well, any other team we would have taken to the cleaners, and the final score is just an insult to the tightness of the game.

Which isn't a problem with a level playing field, Saints spoiling all game with offsides and holding down, penalties given to Hudds when in OUR OWN 20, Penalties given to Saints when IN HUDDS 20 not their own?
3 Tries Dissallowed, need to see these again before make comment.
The RFL have introduced the salary cap to try get the competition on a more level playing field like Australia now, much more interesting to watch.
Then they have refs that lean towards the so called Bigger teams "Saints today, Leeds at HKR ect.
You wanna try putting up with it every week then you might understand all we ask for is a neutral ref, but you wouldn't want this would you due to the risk you may lose a few!!

The referees this season are allowing teams a lot more time to get off tackles. Its therefore not a case of the ref not penalising players, merely a change of interpretation from the RFL which puts us more in line with whats allowed in the NRL.
FWIW i thought the ref had a very good game today. He tried to keep the game flowing but penalised obvious foul play. He was far better than the aussie ref in the Wire v Catalans match who was shockingly bad.

| Thought the ref was pretty fair in his decision making. Saints were lying on but we were offside a fair bit so it evened itself out.On another day we could have won but i have got to say Saints goal line defence was awsome and thats why they won ,not because of the ref's performance

| The ref made a few mistakes, but on the whole he did pretty well. Our defeat had nothing to do with him and more to do with our playmakers not making enough play IMO. I thought, to a man we tackled well and ran the ball up well, our field kicking was also very good, we just lacked that bit of creativity, hopefully this will come as the team gels.

| thought the ref was poor today for both teams a lot of things missed some blatant. Also a couple otf times Tj flagged and he did not follow their advice.
However saints were the better team today and that little bit of extra class told. they scored their chances and we did not. to be fair i was pretty impressed with saints they look better defensively than they normally do and they worked overtime to keep us out.
the only thing that concerns me is the slower PTB which seems to be an RFL directive. in the pre season our PTB was quick and we took teams apart. If it is going to be slower then we have to adapt. If the game is going to be more like the Australian game then it will not be half as exciting as it was.
we need to think more about plays to break down the better defences

| We weren't quick enough with our distribution today IMO and coupled with Saints' excellent defence it meant we only scored the one try.
To be fair though we were much better second half compared to the first.
Saints defended really well though.

| Overall I feel proud of our efforts today. We made mistakes but I thought we showed a lot of promise. I am not disheartened by the loss. We kept Saints from scoring for 35 minutes in the second half which takes some doing. If we can build on that today and correct the errors things will get better. I am looking forward to the next game already.
I was also very pleased with the size of the crowd, it was more than I expected, lovely to see masses of people walking down an hour before kick off, and even more so to see the pathways jammed with fans on the way out. Lets hope plenty of them come back.

Surely it is better to get a penalty when you are under the cosh in your own twenty than in the opposition twenty?
The referee was poor for two teams, both teams held a lot, both teams were never square at marker and both teams were constantly offside. The better team won.

Having paid £27 for my two tickets, I'd be pretty annoyed if they were giving the feckers away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You always send us a load for £10 each but I was in work today so couldn't take up the offer. I wouldn't have minded watching today either!

| Went to the game today as a neutral. Referee wasn't that bad overall I thought. A lot of whinging by the Huddersfield faithful over nothing, similarly Saints.
He did miss a couple of things. Saints were offside a lot in the first-half and Alibert failed to penalise them, but that comes part and parcel of the game.
Put it this way - they cannot win. They blow for penalties and people moan at the stop/start nature of the game. They don't blow and they're crap because they are letting the game flow.
I thought the result was an unfair reflection. 12-6 or 18-6 would have been fairer. Very disappointed with Saints' performance though. They were pretty average really.
You had Saints on the rack for the first 30 mins of the second half, but apart from that I thought your attack was very flat and too many mistakes cost you. Defensively good however. I thought Scott Moore went very well and was good, while Kevin Brown had a solid game also.
You should easily make the top eight - top six too - if you keep these performances up.

| I think most people are forgetting that we played against one of the best teams in the world today. Both defenses were brilliant imo and the only reason Saint didn't look in top form is because we were up on them before they could do anything. On another day the scoreline would have been the other way round had we just managed to plant a few of those balls down. A matter of inches was the differences between us winning comfortably today and losing. All round I was happy with our performance today and thought Mason and Moore were our best players. You can't expect the halves to be splitting the defense open at will against a team like St.Helens. That performance would have beaten almost any SL team today. Also today I witnessed the worse case of holding down by a side that i've ever seen, yet the French bloke never took any notice of it.

Was that when you were doing it? Both teams were as bad as each other for holding down, though I thought that we were penalised more for it. It does, as others have said, look as if more time is being allowed for grappling this season though. I cannot comment on the offsides as I was behind the sticks.
I thought Huddersfield played well, individual mistakes in the first half such as people dropping the ball cost you field position, they seemed to be cut out a lot in the second half and you had a good proportion of the game. Two great cover tackles by Wellens stopped 2 almost certain tries, which would have made it a different game in that last 10 minutes.
All in all, IMO you look a lot better side this year, Browns coaching has definately taken you up a level.

| As I said, we missed too many chances to win the game, saints didnt miss theirs, simple as that.
The only thing I am dissapointed in is letting the soft tries in at the end, the moment Saints broke the deadlock I knew it would happen.
Still, we took the minor premiers all the way to the wire, and didnt let them play for long periods thanks to some superb defence, our young lads played well, Brown and Robinson worked well together and our forwards looked very good.
As an aside, and without any reflection on the match, how does Wilkinson manage to not get sent off every single week?

| Thought we should of been well clear at half time and could only see us running away with the game but Giants really got at us in the 2nd half and had they scored then I think you would of won.
Gutted the pub next to the ground wasnt open...gone from my top away fixture now!!
Think you will win alot more than you lose and glad we dont have to visit you again
